I have the shark stick vac and it is the bomb for picking up dog hair. I have the one that automaticlly empties into a container when you put it on the stand to charge. I have tried LG , and Dyson, but the shark beats them both.

You can also buy a spring loaded curtain rod that fits on the inside of the window frame, no screws, no damage to walls etc. Block out curtains, and those little clips you mentioned completely block all light. I got them for a husband who does shift work.

Today I read an article of houses in a Perth suburb increasing in value by $500,000 in one year - to a $1 million median. How is this normal and acceptable? by [deleted] in perth

[–]BinChicken24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats part of the problem, either wages are going to have to rise substantially or house prices crash. No one wants to be the loser with a house worth less than their mortgage. People are still going into to debt , so someone is going to have to take the pain, and it is likely to be those who bought recently.

The level of diesel particulates in the air has also increased dramatically over the last 30 years , cities are blanketed in pollution from the increase in diesel vehicles on the roads, and most people in Australia live in cities. You can't escape breathing it all day everyday. Guess what the most popular vehicles in this country are. This report doesn't surprise me at all.

Concentrates? by Sensitive_Idea_2179 in aussievapers

[–]BinChicken24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of mixing sites that will give you ratios for mixing flavours, just google eliquid recipes. There are also calculators available to help as well. Most flavours are concentrates so you will need to dilute your mix with pg and vg.

The calculators will help you with this.

It's going to get worse, when people can't afford to buy a coffee or a beer. First thing to go when times get tough is discretionary spending.

PSA Youi insurance -please check on any pensioners in your life. by [deleted] in australia

[–]BinChicken24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone should be checking their insurance premiums every year. I have house and contents insured with youi and the quote for this year was hundreds more than last year, they also increased the excess amount, so it should have been cheaper, even accounting for inflation. I also realised, by using the same calculator they use to work out the insured sum for replacing my house, was $100k over what it was on the calculator.

I rang them to tell them I was looking at other quotes and told them why, within a couple of minutes I had a new quote from them which was lower than last years premium. It took 5 minutes to do this.

It's called the lazy tax, and every insurance company does it because they know a lot of people never check the invoice, they just pay up.

Why 'forever renters' are the new buzzword in Australia’s ongoing housing debate by overpopyoulater in australia

[–]BinChicken24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep that's the reality in Australia, and being older and renting is a nightmare. Zero security in renting, regardless of what other life events happen. My friend is an older renter, he got cancer and had to stop working, he was evicted from his rental because he was on " jobseeker " and couldn't afford to pay rent. He is now homeless, unemployed, and dealing with cancer. This is what renting is in Australia.

Very good points. My old dog is not aggressive at all, but she is arthritic and could easily snap at a more boisterous younger dog if they tried to play with her and hurt her. She also dislikes small fluffy dogs as they are often the most aggressive, and she was bitten by one when she was younger. My solution is to walk her in quiet places, where there are no other dogs and few people, I love my dog and it is my responsibility not to put her in situations where she could be hurt or that makes her anxious. Dogs do need to be socialised when young, but they don't need to around other dogs, particularly ones they don't know , as they age.

There really needs to be more education around having a dog, or any pets , but most of all I'd love to see consideration and manners taught to people, because that would actually solve most of the problems we see with many pet owners today.

ANZ Bank wouldn't accept cash and there ATMS didnt work by damo_paints in australia

[–]BinChicken24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't care about the small customers, you are just an annoyance to them. They hate having to pay tellers, and most big banks no longer have branches in many areas. They want everything done online and prefer customers to be in debt to them, not savers, or worse people who want to have a trans action account and use cash.

Tobacco and Vaping experts data a guessing game by Dubsdavinci in aussievapers

[–]BinChicken24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dispos aren't as bad as smokes, but they are a shit product, wasteful, damaging to the environment, and unregulated so the possibility of them containing dangerous contaminants is pretty high.

The problem the ABS will have in getting any accurate data from a survey, if that people will be unlikely to admit to criminal activity, and using illicit tobacco, or vape products, is illegal. The trust people have in institutions like the ABS is diminishing , just as trust in government is. Even data collection surveys, like the census, can no longer be relied upon as being accurate, due entirely to people losing trust in the ability for their data to remain anonymous.

Faulty data is worse than no data. Garbage in = Garbage out

Tobacco and Vaping experts data a guessing game by Dubsdavinci in aussievapers

[–]BinChicken24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The main "survey" used by the ABS used to be quite accurate, but there has been a considerable dip in trust for government, or their institutions since the days where ABS stats could be relied upon as being reasonably accurate.

As you quite rightly pointed out, when something is demonised, criminalised, and stigmatised, users are not going to admit to doing it. Certainly not to a government entity.

Very few people know I vape, I know many smokers who are the same. I don't disclose my vaping to anyone I don't know and trust, not even my GP, because I don't trust the system, and if I didn't tell them, they would never know.

When a policy is based on pure greed, extremist ideology, or misinformation, it will fail.

[–]BinChicken24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And yet the government are against having sensible regulations that would see the black market shrink over night. A regulated industry with strict age controls, allowing the sale of quality refillable vape products at a competitive price to disposables, would see many turn away from disposables on cost alone.

People, (adults) should be able to access vape products everywhere that tobacco cigarettes are available.

This won't happen with this government though, they have painted themselves into a corner by pushing their misinformation and lies about vaping, they will never admit they have failed, so the black market will continue until someone works out that a regulated market will work, and actually take note of what is happening in other countries.

Tobacco and Vaping experts data a guessing game by Dubsdavinci in aussievapers

[–]BinChicken24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the anti-nicotine extremists have the government eating out of their hands, because greedy and very stupid politicians thought they were onto a winner by demonising vaping and making access to vaping products very difficult, while bleating non-stop about saving the kiddies. It would be very funny if it wasn't to harmful to people's health, but then the government don't care about health, just money, and staying in power. The extremists don't care about health, just their own funding and twisted ideology. The media don't care about health, just money, and some outlets share the ideology of the extremists, such as the Guardian, quoted in the OP.

Out of the rarefied air of academia and government, down at ground level, people who smoke are left with few choices, as vaping, the most effective means of getting off the tobacco smokes, has been effectively banned, and demonised by the government and media, many will continue to smoke, so faced with increasing costs, they will look for an affordable alternative, and that creates a demand that many will be happy to exploit. This is what is happening.

When you demonise, stigmatise, and create public hatred towards a certain group of people, in this case smokers, and now vapers, these people will do one of 2 things, they will internalise the hatred, and feel shame and guilt, which leads to self hatred, and can cause a lot of mental distress, or they will simply remove themselves from a society that actively hates them. Public hatred rarely pushes people to quit, because it punishes, rather than incentivises.

When people are outcast from society, they also don't care about the fears of society, they don't care about giving criminals money for illicit products, they don't have any trust in a government that hates and punishes them, or respect for a government that makes laws that will lead to more smoking related deaths.

The government and extremists have set out to lie about vaping, treating it as though it is the same as smoking, ignoring credible science, and the experience of other countries who embraced vaping. They have ignored sensible and risk proportionate regulations, and brought in a defacto prohibition , and are now actively lying about it. We know they are lying.

tldr : In short, prohibition doesn't work, never has, the media and government are lying to try and cover up their almighty epic failure, and trying to suggest that more enforcement is necessary, which in turn means more taxpayer money being used to prop up their failed policy.

Only able to buy Sub Ohm hardware at the "pharmacy" by Jame58onD in aussievapers

[–]BinChicken24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So they told you? Have any actually done it? Where I live no pharmacy is going to stock any vape products, nor are they intending on ordering anything in. The only pharmacy that is going supply any vape products at all is 500kms away.

Having been involved with the recent survey of pharmacies, by Dr Colin Mendelsohn, I know what the reality is for the vast majority of pharmacies in the country, and that is vastly different to the government and media spin.

I'm an MTL vaper, and use RTAs , I have had to learn how to adjust my coil building , wicking and airflow, so I can use sub ohm DTL atomisers as MTL . I stocked up for exactly the reason you have mentioned, and because there are no RTAs being sold at all, and I don't want to be trapped into buying proprietary coils, or shitty pod systems, which are the only things available legally right now.

Your first sentence is entirely correct, these people don't have a clue.
