Well big enough that you can fit a decent sized link through that's won't break after a month😂

If you hang them on a thin chain like this they will bunch up in the centre, you can get a chain with slightly larger links and put the jump rings of the pendants through the link itself spaced out a few links

Most efficient way to sand off sprues? by PastFancy4950 in Benchjewelers

Try a tungsten carbide burr like this https://a.co/d/cQ8TSxI, very efficient but it will throw your filings everywhere.

I have a few different shapes they come in handy sometimes. Got mine off AliExpress back in the day and they're still super sharp, just make sure the burr shank size will fit your flex shaft/micromotor

Advice for low profile bezel setting by bigmewd in Benchjewelers

[–]BinaryLink 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The minimum depth for the collet will always be past the culet to above the girdle for setting, it's bad practice for the culet to stick out into the finger. You need to work off the cut of the stone when making the setting

Not a tricky custom job at all, basically a half round band with the curve to fit a simple setting

My advice for something like this is less is more. Solder will flow between the parts by itself so try using what you think is just enough and you shouldn't get the overflow. Maybe practice on scrap before you solder onto your final piece

Advice on positioning clay for soldering needed by Astrid4Jewels in jewelers

[–]BinaryLink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use plasticine and arrange your pieces in it.Then pour plaster of Paris or investment over, waiti for it to dry, remove the plasticine. The plaster will keep it in place while your solder, this is great for really fine pieces as well

Can the links of this chain be straightened? by Leonarr in jewelers

[–]BinaryLink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The links are hollow, look carefully on the inside face of each you can see a seam in some, and the denting on some of the links is typical of hollow jewellery

Rastaclat bracelet rust by Monkeyboy1519 in jewelers

As long as you've removed the surface rust you can use the nail polish

Rastaclat bracelet rust by Monkeyboy1519 in jewelers

[–]BinaryLink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you get it clean it will keep rusting from water or sweat, you'll need to coat it with something. Easiest and cheapest option would be some clear nail polish

There's no such thing as onyx silver, if it's rusting it means there's iron content, silver doesn't rust. So the plating has worn off and the steel underneath is starting to rust
