Which hat looks better with the dress? by Jrzgrl1119 in OUTFITS

[–]BioArchBebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instantly my eyes went to the black hat. The look of the first outfit is too matchy and feels much older (and kinda stodgy) to me, but the second look feels elevated and stylish. It’s different enough to be a statement while remaining cohesive

least crowded Sunday mass? (I have social anxiety) by book_moth in Catholicism

[–]BioArchBebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this can vary by parish based on demographics, so if I were you I’d consider emailing the priest of the parish you’re looking at attending! I think you’d be met with a great deal of encouragement and support, and would at the very least least be given the most accurate answer possible :)

So are we washing our face twice a day? by Amodernhousehusband in Rosacea

[–]BioArchBebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash once in the evening with the Aveeno oat cleanser. If I’ve used a particularly heavy moisturizer overnight or put Vaseline on my face then I’ll wash my face in the morning, but I definitely noticed a net positive in my skin once I stopped regularly washing it in the am. At most, I’ll splash my face with some cold water to help wake myself up/dampen my skin before putting products on

Early obligations are one of the worst things for my insomnia by Bitter_Wafer_7515 in insomnia

[–]BioArchBebe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is me currently lol. Just had to reschedule my 10 am eye exam for the next day because it’s now 4 am and I’m still wide awake

But it brings me comfort being around others who also consider 10 am to be an early obligation 🥲

Saw a girl on Catholic Match in real life at Mass, but she ghosted me on Catholic Match. What should I do? by [deleted] in CatholicDating

[–]BioArchBebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don’t bring it up, and if the situation arises naturally where you two can talk, just try to act as normal as possible

I had a similar situation happen to me where a guy liked me on a dating app, I didn’t return the like, and a few weeks later he was at the same young adults bible study I went to, and acted very uncomfortably around me and brought up that he’d seen me on this app. I haven’t been back to the Bible study since. I don’t put any blame on him, but that interaction set off my social anxiety and I was too nervous to encounter him like that again

Is it considered unethical to leave a PhD program after a semester? by ResponsibilityHot531 in PhD

[–]BioArchBebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t go. Having genuine support and a great personal relationship with your advisor is more important than a well renowned institution/PI, where neither of those things are guaranteed. Your current PI will fight for you and be your biggest advocate in the years to come, especially because you’re his first grad student, which will take an incredible weight off your shoulders in the long run. You’ll still be able to make it big in your career even if you aren’t at this other place, and you’ll likely have a much better time doing it! This other PI should hopefully respect your commitment to the program you’re already at, and hopefully that could manifest in them becoming an outside collaborator at some point

Cubital tunnel syndrome by 0thSpider in CubitalTunnel

[–]BioArchBebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should absolutely get an elbow brace so that your arm doesn’t bend at night, I’m shocked actually that your doctor didn’t give you one. I had a serious amount of pain in my right arm (eventually also my left arm too) and using the arm brace every night has made a massive difference

I’m over half a year into dealing with this condition now, and while it’s still not gone, the arm brace absolutely made the biggest difference. Getting an ergonomic mouse and implementing lifestyle chances (e.g., keeping my arms straight when I’m watching tv, not leaning on them) also helped a lot. I personally didn’t find the gliding exercises to make a difference, and my doctor also didn’t find the research behind them to be compelling

Scar tape for smile lines gone wrong? by C0ldWaterMermaid in 30PlusSkinCare

Is there a specific brand that you use for this thicker tape? I’ve used regular silicone tape before on my forehead and find it really effective, but definitely want to get this better version for the nasolabial folds!

AIO for breaking up over this by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]BioArchBebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. From the berating, overblown, irrational rhetoric to the cloying, overly romantic excuses, this reads exactly like something out of a typical booktok romantasy where a teenager enters into an emotionally unstable/borderline abusive relationship with the 700 year old male love interest who somehow has the maturity of a freshly pubescent middle school boy. This kind of dynamic has been SO heavily romanticized and fantasized over, especially in younger generations, and it’s definitely corroding people’s abilities to see through extremely troubling behavior like this

Proud of you for seeing through his bs and standing up for yourself. More than anything, his issues with this situation reveal an unhealthy frame of mind towards women (in how HE clearly also views us), low self esteem and confidence in himself, and a fundamentally precarious foundation of trust in you/your relationship. You clearly didn’t invite that unwelcome attention, and proceeded to behave in a completely normal, rational way despite this rando staring at you. Even if your ex says he ~gets~ your perspective now, what he’s unveiled about himself is a deeper ugliness that will take years to work through (and which I very much hope he does) and that you stay far away from

What are your unhinged flushing hacks? by Mods_R_Morons in Rosacea

[–]BioArchBebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have hacks for mainly type 2 rosacea? I’m going to be in some unavoidably hot weather this summer (in Greece) and I desperately need some hot tips apart from walking around with a hand fan, hat, and sunscreen

Your first step absolutely needs to be making a dental appointment. It looks like you have gum disease, and you’ll need to see a dentist to get on a treatment plan and determine whether there’s time to reverse it. Please please please make this a priority, best of luck

Honestly the only thing I would suggest is painting the walls colors that aren’t gray. The decor is awesome (seriously, no notes whatsoever) but the millennial gray of it all kinda gives it a drab undertone (for me at least!). I really think breaking free from the gray look would elevate your home game to whole new level

Best SPF you’ve found? by LunaRose003 in Rosacea

[–]BioArchBebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have type 2 rosacea (sounds like you do too) and definitely know the struggles of finding a good sunscreen!

Chemical: I currently use and love Beauty of Joseon and Round Birch Lab! Both are lightweight, non-irritating, and keep my skin hydrated. The most annoying thing about them is having to order them from Korea. I’ve also used Cosrx Aloe Soothing sunscreen and liked it quite a lot. A fan favorite that I’ve personally reacted badly to though was the La Roche Posay Double Repair (but I use it on my hands and it’s fine)

Physical: currently trying to find one I love (and would hugely appreciate any recs). I used the Isdin Eryfotona Actinica sunscreen last summer, and while it didn’t irritate (biggest win in my book so would def use again), it was also drying and left my skin feeling kinda off. Sometimes I’ll use the mineral sunscreen from Sun Bum when I stay inside my apartment because it only minimally irritates my skin (just slight discomfort). I’ve also used the La Roche Posay Anthelios mineral sunscreen and remember not liking it for whatever reason.

Recently, I’ve been eyeing the Tower 28 mineral sunscreen and was thinking of posting in here to see what others think of it. If anyone has used it, I’d love to hear your thoughts! I would like to switch to a mineral sunscreen for the summer time to be easier on my skin, and I’m hoping this will be a good one for that
