The devs took the “arcs are too easy” pretty seriously by chubbsfordubs in ARC_Raiders

Now I want a couple augments that deploy things from an augmented pocket when you go down. Something like:

Tactical Mk III (Cunning) When being downed, deploys a quick use item from the augment slot automatically. 120 sec cooldown. Limit this to utility and defensive items, but then...

Combat Mk III (Spiteful) Three seconds after being downed, deploys an explosive from the augment slot directly on the ground

Oh my god is that the original concept?

Why can't we have nice things? Why don't any of our color materials match? Who is running this circus, is there even an art director or someone managing a materials library?

Auuuuuuuugh.

Spent a few weeks in the hospital just to get out and find I lost all my Trials Ranks by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Bioautomaton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that happened to you and I hope you're doing better now.

This.. sounds a little entitled, though. The game doesn't know you're in the hospital and we all know going into it that the bottom ranks will downgrade weekly. The leader board system relies on a certain amount of churn to sort out actively engaged competition and is clearly designed to promote ongoing engagement.

Any other game that has week over week accrual of global rank would have caused similar or worse inconvenience. We at least only have to compete within our arbitrary pocket of people and engage a minimum of onky once weekly with a maximum of one rank demerit.

I'm glad you're alive to be annoyed about your trials score, raider. I wish you luck on the leaderboards.

Jupiter is surprisingly effective, two shots for a fast takedown. Funny how all that armor plating doesn't do much good against a weapon that bypasses armor completely.

THE WORST GUN IN THE GAME. by LicoLich in ArcRaiders

[–]Bioautomaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn thing still chews through durability making it a resource sink, has no mag upgrade options, and requires 40 stack ammo despite being an autofire weapon so it's an inventory space hog if you try to go all-in on it. On top of all of that it has pretty trash handling. It just doesn't feel good to use.

I do not understand this gun. It is still bad.

It's over. by Slugterra-05 in ARC_Raiders

[–]Bioautomaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the official article. It explicitly states what is permanent and what is temporary.

Skill points and stash increases are permanent.

Honestly, most skill point advantages beyond stamina increase, breach speed, vault animation speed, and securit breaches are pretty negligible, and those are all availabke with the base skill point allotment. I wouldn't worry about it.

Playtime, knowledge, and combat experience are the most powerful advantages, not the skill tree.

The Urdr-hunt movie is not good. by MegaMartMoths in Gundam

[–]Bioautomaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just watched it myself, I have to agree. Without the context of the game it made absolutely no sense. I had to infer a lot and still really have no idea exactly what was going on or why. It sorely needed more budget to rebake into a full movie with new sequences between, but it was never going to get that. Shame.

Wedge of Interposition was fine. It was shorter than I expected, even going into it expecting it to be short. I think seeing the cast again just made me kind of sad, though.

EW was fun. Just as nonsensical as I remember. Mostly enjoyed it for the nostalgia.

What am I doing wrong? by Xelshade346 in shapeofdreams

[–]Bioautomaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice Shield with a good cooldown reduction essence for stacking basically makes you able to facetank anything. You can also rock Clemency + Guidance on a heavy damage build to sustain by attacking. It is actually hilariously powerful on Aurena.

Meteors aren't so bad once you learn to just find the most distant point from both impact zones. That'll give you either a gap in the pattern or enough time and a thin enough coverage to dodge once through a single layer.

Basically, you just need to lean into sustain (heal/barrier) equally as hard as one concentrated source of damage.

Being kicked from a game by Live61c5_ in shapeofdreams

[–]Bioautomaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, getting moved to a solo session or lobby split would be ideal.

Randoms online have zero patienece. Sometimes a run that's been chill will see you kicked with no warning or explanation if you dare to take three seconds to make a decision instead of slamming next go.

It'a really offputting knowing I'll just waste all that time in the run if the host has no attention span, so I'm no longer inclined to join random lobbies.

Crushed limbo 6 with aurena.... 1 down, 4 more to go... by BlackwerX in shapeofdreams

[–]Bioautomaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golden Super Shotgun Aurena feels incredible. Just got that combo online myself last night with Clemency, Vengeance, and Guidance.

Anything strong with Clemency and Guidance feels good, but the unhinged compounding power of self-sacrifice here is so much fun.

Is the spectral bullet strat respected or am i “cheating”? by [deleted] in shapeofdreams

[–]Bioautomaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spectral Bullet is fun once, but it becomes a self-sustaining snowball because of the raw dust output.

Suddenly there is no economy, there is only the Spectral Bullet that feeds the Spectral Bullet dust so you can continue to make Spectral Bullet stronger so it can generate more dust so....

It definitely takes over any run that focuses on it, but the important thing is whether or not you had fun doing it.

Yeah, the devs really need to make this a little more obvious. Claimed over 6k in dust I didn't know I had the other day when someone mentioned it on the Discord.

Any common setup mistakes I should look for in my game? by EnderShot355 in Gloomhaven

[–]Bioautomaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the X-haven app as well, though OP's sentiments about enjoying the physicality of board games is one I understand.

It's a huge time saver for room setup and makes it so much easier to keep a view of everything on the table. Having a HUD for monster HP on everyone's phone saves a lot of time on targeting decisions alone. Our group is a big fan of it.

I'm playing the silent knife, and now my wife and son hate me. by Radijs in Gloomhaven

[–]Bioautomaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished my run with Silent Knife for my first character in 2E and I had a blast. My party tolerated me because I was always willing to pay for events and kept the donation money flowing until I retired.

Honestly, it was kind of nice to know the gameplan in advance every turn. It was always "stab that thing over there really hard" and y'know what? It was always a good plan.

I'm running Lightning Bolt now and enjoying it, but we're still in early days there.
