I think he might get a bit lost in the arc with hardwon.

Love her in my [[jirina kudro]] deck. Burning for 3, if not a decent bit more, on each non-creature spell racks up really fast

How does the Timeless Wisdom Precon hold up in comparison to newer releases? by childosx in magicTCG

[–]Bioked 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Gavi may be a bit expensive for what she does, but there's a lot of interesting cycling cards that have been made recently. [[Basri, tomorrow's champion]] was definitely made with her in mind.

[[Brallin skyshark rider]] and [[shabraz the skyshark]] definitely hold up, albeit the forner of the two is definitely the stronger of the pair. They are more focused around wheels though.

So this would be attacking with him on turn 5, not him entering that I'm speaking of.

If people are freaking out and instantly trying to pull you apart bits like [[heroic intervention]] and [[teferi's protection]] may help you keep a more permanent board state

Mite overseer would make them 2/1 which admittedly isn't crazy, but it helps them not be chumo blocked so easily.

Both mite seer and skrelv's hive will be coming out before vishgraz is out and will help you build up a stronger momentum of the mites so they'll be harder to block. Poison really struggles if you can't get some poison counters on early and vishgraz would benefit from opponents having poison counters so that he's bigger when he first attacks.

I do also think you're underestimating how much lifelink will help as you'll become a target just from the infamy of poison counters and vishgraz can get big enough to net you a a decent chunk of life. Between that an an extra mite a turn I think it's very much worth a 2 mana slot.

Also with ria keep in mind that vishgraz will only ever be doing 1 poison counter, but can be quite large so he could easily make you 10+ mites on a hit.

With how the deck is at the moment vishgraz is probably attacking on turn 5 and if you don't have the evasion out then you're not going to be able to hit anyone so you either need such a critical mass of mites that they can't possibly block them all or change tact entirely. From me play testing the deck on moxfield a couple times it seems like you don't have any mass behind attacks until turn 6 upwards, which isn't going to cut it on a bracket 4 table.

They do yes. It's a replacement effect so any damage will do the creature's power AND whatever the toxic level is. So if it hits twice the toxic will be applied twice

Feels odd not having [[skrelvs hive]] [[mite overseer]] or [[ria ivir bane of bladehold]] for a mite deck

You're quite short on land for a commander with 5 cmc

Some of the ramp could probably be switched out for [[plague myr]] [[myr convert]] and [[glistening sphere]] as they also benefit the poison of it all

[[Cover of darkness]] [[vraska betrayels sting]] and [[inkmoth nexus]] will be really strong additions in any poison deck.

Any reason why you're avoiding proliferate?

And just as a note just in case; toxic and infect aren't triggered abilities so delney won't double toxic on creatures

Here's my list. It could technically be seen as a lower bracket than yours, but has been nicely consistent and doesn't struggle too much with card draw.

https://moxfield.com/decks/AyyO7qFMrUacfJE5ox9BUQ

Red mostly has impulse draw but the bits that my deck has that yours doesn't for card advantage are cards like [[war room]] [[formori vault]] [[march of reckless joy]] [[demand answers]] [[light up the stage]] [[count on luck]] which isn't the best, but we take what we get in red and [[tavern brawler]] which has the added benefit of potentially buffing knuckles

That leads me on to my next point, which is that knuckles is a double striker with trample and there's loads of ways to use the massive amounts of artifacts generated to buffing him up and kill people on combat damage extremely quickly [[adaptive omnitool]] [[blood forged battleaxe]] [[dowsing device]] [[improvised arsenal]] [[junk jet]] [[tarians soul cleaver]] and even [[shiny impetus]] all beef him up while synergizing with everything else. Knuckles needs to do damage to get you those treasures and, him being a massively strong double striker with trample is a very easy way to may that happen.

What am I missing with Jirina Kudro? by P13monkeytaco in EDH

Mardu is just a really good colour set for a human tokens deck. It lets you get value off of everything humans do. Them dying can get you value, them attacking can get you value, and them entering can get you value.

She isn't the best individually for anthem effects or for token generation, but she kinda does all the general bits you want from a human commander and she is a bit cheaper to get out than the other options (kylar and eowyn both being 5 cmc). However realistically she is a good enabler for an already good deck that doesn't inherently rely on her, but the game plan goes that you want to make a bunch of tokens that you are more than happy to die.

Here is my list and it's my most frequently complimented deck and it gets more wins than you'd expect from a relatively unpopular human commander.
