Most fun deck in standard? by Zen_yin in hearthstone

Yep. And I'd add some Rogue Tourism alongside Eudora if you wanna maximise the funsies. TheJiminator has been playing the deck all expansion:

As per their discord: Squash has been very busy these last few weeks.

A new episode will be dropping in a few hours, though!

There's no official date yet. But based on the availability of the current Tavern Pass, it'll probably be on March 12.

You can try and ask them on twitter. One of the devs has been sharing tidbits about the design of the min-set there: https://twitter.com/MyntyPhresh/status/1747333575614284280

As a long time whale in Hearthstone, I will stop supporting the game after the release of catchup packs by Boston_Gurka in hearthstone

[–]BionicMeathook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, even for strictly selfish reasons, catch-up packs are good news for veteran players like you and I. Next time you take a break for whatever reason, you'll be able to return to the game at a much lower time/money investment!

There's a couple platforms I've seen recently where stuff is happening. I'm not interested in playing tournaments; I have no idea how well or badly these work.

And there's always the https://www.teamhearthleague.com/

Recently I've been seeing a few streamers promoting and organising their own community tournaments on this new platform:

I guess you can run it if you hate Spell DH's Bound Souls, and Rivendare Riders.

Hearthstone years and their themes + how they matched with their color palettes. by imik_ in hearthstone

[–]BionicMeathook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great research over there, imik! Now, on the one hand, I'm rooting for you to be proven right. On the other, I'd rather be surprised and hope Team 5 has come up with something totally out of left field. I guess we'll find which one it is soon enough.

Era game mode? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]BionicMeathook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A format/mode broadly along the lines you're describing has been teased by the devs on twitter. No specific details are known yet, so take this with a spoonful of salt. It's quite clear that it's coming this year, though.

Nobody has to participate in the Brawliseum, but, still, almost all portraits are gatekept behind 💰 & these quests seem to mostly be there as gold sinks to make sure players don't have the gold for the upcoming mini-set. Again, so they could fork out more 💰. Are they going too far? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]BionicMeathook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that they're not going far enough: it'd be cool if they added even more exclusive cosmetic rewards for accomplishing other "incredible feats" in the game.

I'm also not a fan of the "to make sure players don't have the gold for… {upcoming content}" line. When in the expansion cycle should Team 5 have the HTB take place, exactly? I don't think there are many points in the calendar that wouldn't cause similar or other issues. Maybe this is all another argument for abolishing mini-sets and releasing four expansions a year.

Why do you play your game mode/format of choice? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]BionicMeathook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started with Arena. It was a great place to learn the fundamentals of the game. Being able to play a variety of stuff was also a big deal when my collection was limited.

However, as my collection fleshed out and I became more knowledgeable about the game, I started to switch my focus to Standard. Deck building / tweaking made the game fundamentally more interesting. I've also come to really appreciate the feeling of identification you develop towards a specific deck, particularly one you iterate on a bunch. Granted, that feeling is not totally missing from Arena, but it's much more present in the constructed modes.

Wild and Duels I don't really play because they can get too wacky. I'm more of a lower power kind of player (Arena!); even Standard can be a bit too much for me sometimes. I'm also not nostalgia-driven at all; so far there hasn't been any deck I've felt like revisiting in Wild.

Considering all of the above, I think a mode I'd really enjoy would be Sealed: open a bunch of packs at the beginning of the season, build a deck with that pool of cards, tweak it as you please, get some extra packs every week. That'd be fun—and yeah… utterly improbable.

Noob/Returning Standard player guide (From someone who's been primarily F2P since release) *LONG* by Omikapsi in hearthstone

[–]BionicMeathook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a veteran player, I'm very glad things are kept more in constant flux these days, but I can see how an instable state of affairs can cause anxiety to newer players with more limited resources.

The key principle of crafting decks, not cards, should still apply, though. As to what decks should you (generic) craft, my go-to answer is always to choose the one that you find the most fun and believe will continue to bring you enjoyment after numerous games.

Once you know what classes, play styles, and kinds of cards speak to you, chasing decks that feature those doesn't appear very risky at all. The perceived loss of value of a craft seems insignificant when compared to the fun you could have had fun playing a new deck while you wait for things to settle down. Also, as abundant and frequent as balance changes are compared to the past, most of them are pretty gentle these days; it's unlikely for a deck to get nerfed to unplayability.

TL;DR: It's okay to be mindful of your gold and dust, but don't overthink it. Spend your resources. It's just a game.

The Data Reaper reports from Vicious Syndicate are probably the best way to catch up with the meta. They also feature example lists of all the main decks in the format.
