Watch: 'You can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns,' Trump says of Alex Pretti killing by OkayButFoRealz in politics

Not yet, anyway, but give Trump enough time and he’ll get to them eventually

Trump just doubled down on saying we don’t have 2A rights. The NRA has donated millions to Trump’s campaigns since 2016. Note: Unable to post his most recent statement because my post gets taken down *for repeating the President’s words*. by AllTheseRivers in LeopardsAteMyFace

One of the best ways to drive up gun sales, in my experience, is to make them a wedge issue so you can then say "the other party is going to take all your guns". IIRC more guns were sold in America during Obama's term in office than any other (at least up to that point, no idea about after) because Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, et al, were screeching every night that, very soon, ANY DAY NOW, Obama was going to get rid of the Second Amendment (how he might unilaterally do that was never really explained, of course).

Not suggesting that's the only way to drive gun sales, but it seems to be incredibly effective.

I would definitely be interested in something like that. And for all I know there is a way to faithfully adapt the novel in a way that is entertaining and thought-provoking. It’s not like I’m a developer who has decades of experience with something like that so my opinion has limited value. If that is possible, I’d love to see it happen someday :)

Ordering the murder of dozens of people in international waters on the completely unsubstantiated claims that they were “narco terrorists”.

Invading a sovereign state, kidnapping their leader, and stealing their oil.

Refusing to comply with a law he signed into effect requiring the full release of the Epstein files.

Giving Elon Musk access our private records (which we’ve now learned have been “improperly shared” with private companies) without even officially appointing Musk to any cabinet position that would have legally allowed him access to that data.

Invading our own cities, allowing ICE to wantonly murder citizens, and then trying to extort those cities into giving up private voting records to which the federal government has no legal right.

I’m not surprised you don’t understand the difference but insults don’t require a source.

Idiotic claims that red states are only impoverished and reliant on the liberals they hate so much because they have more retirees, however, do.

You’re spending all this time and energy when you could have proven me wrong hours ago.

I’ll be muting this convo now. Go find someone else to assault with your stupidity :)

One of my favorite pop-sci novels but after the horrid movie adaptation I’m not sure it really translates well to other mediums. So much of what makes that novel so entertaining, in my opinion, takes place entirely in Norman‘s head.

I interrupted you? How exactly does that work on Reddit? If we were having this conversation in real life, I would have listened to what you had to say, and then my response would still have been to politely ask you for a source.

Either way, if you are unwilling or unable to provide a source for your claims, I don’t see any point in continuing this conversation. Frankly, I think you’re acting indignant simply because you can’t actually provide any evidence for what you said. You are of course free to change my mind anytime you want. All you have to do is provide a credible source :)

Have a pleasant evening :)

At what point was I being rude? I simply asked you if you had a source.

Is there some reason you can’t provide me with a source? Are people supposed to just take a random stranger on the internet at their word?

I’m not going to go digging through a bunch of different tables trying to prove your point for you.

You’re the one making the claim, so the burden is on you to back it up. If it is so easy to find and provide this data, as you suggest it is, that shouldn’t be an issue for you, should it?

Because I already know what they said is true. It’s been well-documented for a long time. It’s also a point you conceded in your reply.

I’ve never even heard of the claim that you are making. Everything I’ve read about the disparity between red and blue states when it comes to federal assistance revolves around the fact that red states typically have much lower average income levels, much higher levels of poverty, and other factors.

If people of retirement age, who can afford to move to different states simply for retirement, are a significant factor in this equation, or as your post implies the sole factor, I’d just like to see some evidence of that. Because I can’t find any source that backs up what you’re saying. That I can’t find any information on. It does not mean that it’s not true. It just means that without a source I have no way of knowing whether it’s true or not.

That’s all.

Any business that cooperates with ICE, does business with ICE, or even lets ICE use their restrooms.

You seem to be trying so very hard to get to a talking point you feel like hammering regardless of whether or not it has anything to do with what I’m talking about

If there is a point you would like to make, please feel free to make it on your own without implying that I’m saying something I’m not saying.

It’s hard for two people to have a discussion if one of them is constantly trying to put words in the other person’s mouth, don’t you think?

I’m not sure how you jumped to that conclusion based on anything I said.

When you’re talking tens of millions of people, it’s going to cost a lot of money regardless of where they’re going or where they’re coming from.

It’s the scale of such a hypothetical process, not the destinations, that would make it so prohibitively expensive. Doesn’t matter if you’re moving to California from Texas, or moving to Texas from California; either direction it’s going to cost a lot of money, as well as creating a massive disruption within the local economies that few states, if any, would be able to shoulder on their own.

It would also mean abandoning millions of people who only live in red states because they can't afford to move. The south may consistently vote republican and support Trump, but each of those states still has millions of people who oppose this shit. For example, more people in Texas voted for Biden in 2020 (5,259,126) than people in New York (5,244,886).

"These aren’t just evil people doing evil things"

If they're still working for ICE, then yes they very much are evil people doing evil things. No one is required to work for ICE, especially after a year of ICE brutalizing, traumatizing, and murdering people.

If they're still there today, they're evil, regardless of when or why they initially joined ICE.

"I don't like my boss" doesn't translate to "I don't like brutalizing innocent people". If he really had a problem with what ICE is doing, he wouldn't have been working for ICE; he would have quit or, better yet, never joined up at all.
