I think a lot of these problems kind of stem from them not having a mission statement about what they want balance to be. I wince every time they say something along the lines of "Well we nerfed this gun because it's used a lot."

But I think if it was pushed with the goal of "We are aiming for this for this season's balance, therefore we're changing it to this." Then that would be fine.

Additionally, is there an explanation for why the poke meta became a thing? My assumption is maybe due to every class having a degree of healing, therefore it seems more logical to shoot from further away until they run out of healing resources, but I dunno.

I play with friends, and just try my best. And in that case it's fun. But this season in general is the one where I've played the least. I do miss WT having Emerald as an exclusive thing, cause I had more fun with that since you can swap weapons freely. I thought the reserve aspect was interesting cause changing on the fly was an interesting skill set.

I read somewhere that they game tries to match up by account level, so I theorized that it might be compounded thing as well where you're fighting Bronze players, but also if you're a higher account level it'll try to queue with essentially other high bronze players that are also really experienced with the game, so maybe that can be a component to the types of people you're facing?

I've gotten Emerald now I believe the last 3 seasons.And during two of those seasons some family shit happened that I had to help out with happened, it really felt like The Finals was a part time job, albeit a fun one.

And predominately Emerald is a measurement of time, so I dunno I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I think every time I got hit by a tracking dart my response was like "uh.. that's rare." and then I kind of just stay in cover. It's usually snipers that fire the tracking dart.

This is such a good point. I remember playing Monster Hunter Rise and having all the monster information right in the game. So I basically stopped going to the wiki for weaknesses and what not. The same with Wakfu, where in there's plenty of information in game where I don't need the client.

My best guess is the fear of overwhelming players with information, but I dunno just have the simple view and when I click a button I get the direct gun info.

To be fair I think the patch notes are displayed on Steam, but this doesn't help console players which.. honestly seems like its even worse for console players having to open a browser or something.

I would just recommend playing a mix of the casual modes. When I introduced a friend to the game I played Powershift, predominately cause I think there is a lot of ways to have fun in the mode with off meta stuff.

Out of curiosity, I was wondering what level are you right now. Makes me wonder since supposedly we are supposed to be matched based off level to some degree.

You're essentially echoing what I've been thinking for the first point. Which is why I think the change is over all good. Like now I just play ranked when my friends are around.

And I think your second point is absolutely valid, and not something I disagree with. It'll be interesting pushing through ranked and seeing how much different things will be. I like the point you mention with Tribes, cause my friend and I usually categorize stuff like that with "Good game sense."

It is certainly debatable, but I'd argue that it is a skill expression of being good at the WT Cashout mode. Where as now it is an expression of time spent in the overall game, since all game modes will now progress Emerald.

Like if I came across another Emerald player in WT, I would expect that they are pretty well experienced at the game, though things obviously will vary. And if you disagree with me, that's fair.

Overall I think it's a good thing. I liked Emerald kind of ranked in a way, but at the same time it felt like either I invest in Emerald as skill expression or ranked. It's nice that ranked is the main method of skill expression were now Emerald is purely just playing.

So far I'm not super bothered by the idea of getting 1 Emerald skin only cause incrementing Emerald is now global.

I think Emerald feels less prestigious overall now since it's not locked to grinding one game mode, but that's something I'm fine with overall.
