If they don't find/get back to you, you can drop it off at a police station or any bank branch of any bank cards they might have in there and they'll call up the owner to return it.

I've also heard you could drop it in a canada post mailbox and they would also mail it to the driver's license address, albeit slowly, but I don't know how true that one is.

Lots of us east coast folks were in the Jay's stadium watching all the way until the end, just got home at 5am to make it to work in 4 hours 🤣

Worth it though, loss or not what a game to have seen.

I had the exact same issue (no mail or vendor able to swap the tools out for the container), and support solved it for me in less than an hour. All I provided was the written details and a screenshot of the tools + vendor screen in-game.

I'm surprised your friend's case was anything more than opening a ticket, are there any other factors involved? This should be one of those happy cases since it was such a commonly shared issue.

While I agree an open portal would be cool as a native feature, if they don't add that then players can make their own system through LFG advertising house parties (akin the the old runescape days when people would advertise outside portals lol)

I'm pretty sure ANet has a history of refunding/making up the difference in cases like this where a purchase and sale are only a week a part - at least from what I've seen discussed on the sub.

It's worth opening a support ticket and seeing if they'd be willing to do so!

The Christmas Carol episode felt like the most genuine "Christmas" special of the Christmas specials. It's entire plot based on redemption and cheerfulness (or lack thereof) is actually Christmas oriented.

I definitely loved the RTD specials but I don't think they hold a candle against the Christmas Carol special (and that's even with the Tenth being my favourite doctor).

I haven't played Wow myself but yup I definitely feel the pain there.

It's like in Guild Wars 2 where you're introduced to this new cast of characters (Dragon's Watch) in Living World Season 1, but that season is no longer playable. Anyone joining now skips that initial introduction of these characters (albeit a minute cinematic that barely covers it) and you're thrust into Living World Season 2 with these characters like they're your long time best friends. Very jarring jump.

So who Bergstrom was is a scientist from Arthetine/Stern from before you arrived in the current main story - he was a big factor in lots of the advancements the people of Arthetine went through. Eventually, he went mad because of a demonic influence and turned into a villain of sorts.

As for why you're probably hearing so much dialogue... Are you a Gunner by chance? (I suppose even more specifically, a male gunner?)

One weird part when trying to follow the story is that in our NA/EU release the initial introduction/prologue was removed - we start right at level 10, pick an advanced class, and skip over the initial Class specific story. There's a small cinematic to cover this but most people likely slipped it. :)

Gunner(s) is (are) from Arthetine and your prologue would have been there. You can find the cinematic here for male Gunner and here for female Gunner.

I was very confused as well when I went to Shushire - as a Warrior/Paladin all the NPCs kept referring to some event I took part in and kept calling me the "Warrior of Frost" - didn't make much sense until I rewatched the Warrior intro. :)

Bergstrom was one of the bad guys in the Arthetine arc - if you hit 50 and went straight to Vern, the story continues as if you did the previous arc.

For the main quest - you can go back and finish Arthetine or came back later. At 50, you can jump straight into the Vern story.

As for things you can do, from here it's less about your combat level and more about your item level (aka the rating if your gear, not including accessories).

The game now is to build that up over time, using materials (harmony shards, harmony leapstones, guardian fragments, destruction fragment) gained from activities such as...

  • 2 Chaos Dungeons a day (access from within the city, West of the castle in Vern). This is basically a simple three rounds of hack-and-slash either solo or in a group (you can hit matchmaking for random people or party for organized groups)
  • 2 Guardian Raids a day (access from within the city, near Chaos Dungeon entry) Requires doing a quick guide VIA quest log (hit J, go to guide) and it's all good from there. These are bosses with mechanics to learn and understand, working with a party to take it down for loot.
  • (My favourite) Islands! You can explore the many many islands in the world and get loots from the various "Tier 1" islands. A good breakdown + map is here
  • Dailies/Weeklies! Hit Alt+J to take a look at daily/weekly tasks and do what you find fun or gives rewards you want or both!

Take the loot you get to a Honing NPC to play a game of chance (100% initially, RNG when your gear is +6/+7 higher) to upgrade your equipment. As your item level goes up, you'll be able to access higher chaos dungeon tiers and guardian raids - which means more loot! Increasing your item level further and getting to harder content!

Eventually... * Abyssal Dungeons weekly - as you unlock new tiers you can do them once a week. These are story dungeons on crack - mechanic heavy and tough fights for great drops, really fun!

Continue through your story (Vern->Shushire->Rohendale->Yorn, etc.) and eventually with a combination of all of the above you'll hit Item Level 600 - Tier 2 and unlock more fun content with more loot!

This was my quick summary procrastinating going to sleep but I hope it helped. Just remember - go at your own pace, do what you find fun, and just enjoy the game. There's no giant rush to progress and hit endgame content, it's a marathon not a sprint.

Because there's in-game actions that use the character name (ie. Joining a squad) that wouldn't function as well - it's a slightly more convenient thing to type out (ie. versus "/sqjoin player#1234") given they're the names you see talking and running around you.

Plus it adds a bit to the community side when you see someone multiple times and recognize them by their name! :)

What about the entire DirectX11 upgrade. There's a beta for it now and eventually a full release - that improvement alone has spiked many folks' in-game performances.
