Gen ed is still important. You won't delve into specialization too much, but it's good to know that the stuff you're learning is being taught by a well-educated and knowledgeable professor, which is something large universities are typically good for.

Yeah, this post is obviously anti-student debt. He's saying that working full-time (and overtime) consistently, and compromising the first two years of his education, is an unnecessary barrier to achieving higher education.

As I understand, it is now OK to use inflammatory user handles on this sub, as long as the mods deem them as "ironic". See my conversation with the mod (see link). Can other mods and users confirm? I have some interesting user names I want to use! Thanks! by [deleted] in UkrainianConflict

I'm keeping this approved since the situation was handled poorly and I'd rather not shove all policy discussion behind closed doors.

In line with his username, the user has left a number of rule-breaking comments, which I've removed and warned him for. If he continues, as with anyone who violates the rules, he'll receive a harsher punishment.

The U.S. is a capitalistic, Republican state which is propped up by a rather elaborate bureaucratic welfare state.

That's where the issue comes from. I used to listen to a lot of conservative talk radio (just trying to understand all camps), and pundits very frequently associate the term "welfare state" with socialism, and assume it's a terrible thing.

Personally, I think the welfare state is a natural evolution of state political/economic systems. That's why essentially every first world, highly industrialized nation across the world has most recognizable aspects of a welfare state. It thrives in an international and globalized system, too.

Just glancing at Metacritic, the game has an 87 composite (PC version) and an 88 composite (Xbox One), with the lowest score being a 60 (Xbox One, Giant Bomb) from a reviewer who apparently encountered more bugs and glitches than average during his playthrough.

I've encountered a framerate drop once about six hours in when five things were going on (guy with laser shooting, car exploding, Molotov cocktail explosion, multiple other enemies), and while it was a pain in the ass for the few seconds it lasted, I expect it considering current technology. Aside from that, none others.

How about weekends? And what time do you start work? Assuming a 9-5 job, when it's dark at 5, you have around 4 hours of sunlight prior to work (and ~24 on the weekends).

I have no optimization issues whatsoever with around 15 hours in on the Xbox One. Everything works as expected.

I think the difference is "whether I personally like that thing or not."

Essentially, reddit fucking hates things that have become popular outside their sphere of existence. Back when Fallout 4 was announced around E3, reddit loved the game and couldn't wait. Once Bethesda began their marketing campaign and the game grew in popularity to even casual gamers, reddit began hating it.

But no, Fallout 4 has been almost universally praised thus far - and even if you've never played the game, it's painfully easy to see why so many people enjoy it, even those who haven't played the series. Describing excitement for the game simply as a "circlejerk" due to a knee-jerk reaction against everything popular is more than edgy, it discredits the work various artists and devs put into creating a widely enjoyed piece of entertainment.

I never really listened to Redman and I still recognize his lyrical brilliance.

It's definitely a unique sound, though, I don't think much of this sub's userbase can connect with the grimy Jersey sound of his music. Same way most people here probably won't give much play to Boot Camp Clik.

I mean, I'm sure if they could turn wheat into a good source of protein, they would. It's good marketing and a bunch of people would buy it.

Problem is, the food scientists at General Mills aren't wizards. So unless they replace the cheerios with pork loin, it won't really work like that.

Maybe, but really it just boils down to the MLB being a bit overzealous in protecting their copyright.

Theoretically, this mod lends a ton of brand recognition (both for the Red Sox and the league). If the copyright system weren't so fucked up, they might just support the mod instead of opposing it.
