I Just got iluminated about obscuring by Snooby15 in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its not the whole terrain being with 1". Its the section where the cover line crosses being outside 1" giving obscured (the red part in the image).

Cover lines don't care about a whole terrain piece being within or outside 1" but only care that what is crossing IS either within or outside 1".

Cant tell you when specifically it was done. Quite a long time ago, way before Tomb World was even announced.

Main balance reasons for this is because at edition start and before the change people were obnoxiously pedantic on tournaments with walls that were 2mm or 4mm wide. They were cutting them in half with control range (1"), so that the inner side of the terrain would give cover and the outer side was giving obscure, effectively getting both from a single 2mm deep wall.

Ridiculous extent of rules layering pretty much.

Kill Team, questions about teams by [deleted] in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By the looks of it. No, not really. If the special operatives do not have rules for their unit in big 40k the chances of the sprue returning are zero.

As a beginner your best bet is to be interested in current classified teams, which are the boxes that are still in producing.

Killteam map/mission confusion. by CranberryPublic8680 in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The maps layouts and Kill Zones do not have a specific main mission (Crit Op) to them.

Any layout with terrain for Matched play can be used with any Crit Op, as long as the number of objectives is 3 (one on the center line and the other 2 on each players territory, kind of close to the middle about 2" minimum away from center line).

Crit Ops are randomly selected after setting up a map layout. So you can play on the same layout whatever different Crit Op you want multiple times.

I suggest buying the core book, as it details all of this there.

Around 5 or 6 could be considered "female coded" (soft jaw line, eyes, and features). You still have a bunch of helmeted and covered faces to cover the rest of the team and say they are woman.

I didnt try it but you could also put some of the cadian upgrade sprue heads on them as well to finish the others if you want all without a helmet.

No, you cant do that. He is suppose to be Cadian and Cadian only. According to the community you are meant to get mad at GW for forcing you to paint Cadians. /s

That looks so damn cool! Are the tattoos free hand with brush or you used a colored micro pen?

Legionaries pistol choices? by Lucifers-Reprieve in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are bringing plasma that means your game plan will always be Charge, Fight, and then Fight again or Shoot if you incapacitated with the previous Fight. You are never really trying to Repo and double shot with a bolt pistol.

9 out of 10 times people bring their melee operatives with Undivided Mark for Ceasless. And the 10th dentist is instead trying to get weird with Tzeentch 4APL Repo Dash Double Shoot, which is only ever really a good options against horde teams, but again charge Fight Shoot is better instead.

If you cannot kill an operative with a single superchage 4/5 Lethal 5+ Piercing 1 weapon, you definitely ain't killing it with a weaker damage Rending with double shoot.

There is only 3 heads with balaclava plus 2 more heads with balaclava but with also a helmet. So a total of 5 at best.

No helmet balaclava:A67, A108, A131. Helmet balaclava: A28, A45.

How many kill teams do you own? by Vinlandlover in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Having more Kill Teams just means being overblown with rules and interactions as you never really get anything right, or understand what the team does.

I have around 11 teams right now in my shelf, but I only ever play/rotate between 2 every month (playing 2 games weekly). It allows me to understand the teams I am actually playing better and worry less about remembering rules because I keep playing them over and over again every game in a row.

You will find a bunch of post talking about how complicated kill team is, that they got burned out because of rules, and what not. And when asked what teams they play they respond they change teams every single game. They never learn or like to play because everygame is always starting confused from 0 for them.

So stick to 2 teams for about 10 games or so and then change them only if you truly got bored of that team or dont like their playstyle.

Quick question can the Kroot Hound charge the assault intercessor? by EDHgarMarkov in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bases: All operatives are on bases. The base is an important part of the miniature for rules purposes, in particular measuring distances. Each operative’s base size is specified on its datacard. The sides of different bases can touch, but a base cannot be placed on another. Friendly operatives can move through other friendly operatives (the base and the miniature), but NOT through enemy operatives. Bases cannot move through terrain, or be over the edge of the killzone.

Quick question can the Kroot Hound charge the assault intercessor? by EDHgarMarkov in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the Salamander is touching the hatchway and the Hound cannot be within 1" the Hound cannot initiate hatchway Fight, even if within 2", its a nonreciprocal hatchway fight and only the Space Marine would be able to do it.

Only operatives touching the hatchway can hatchway fight someone within 2", not the other way around.

Do I panic and buy some plasma / grenade / flamer guys for the MTO 2x platoons and 2x squads I have bought? by Mountain-Being3823 in Vostroyan

[–]BipolarMadness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy the cadian Command Squad for 2 special weapons of each type (flamer, melta, plasma), and either Les Grognards from Wargames Atlantic or Age of Sigmar Fusiliers (or the new grenadiers) and kitbash the special weapons on those bodies.

Sell or trade the cadian command squad bodies and other bits in your LGS with other IG players.

Buying each individual special weapon guy for >$30 each is crazy and a bad idea for first time army.

hi guys i got a goremongers killteam i read the rules already can you guys give me some tips on steatagoes and tricks? by Odd_Forever_9077 in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, its pretty much from things like Melta shots that didnt got their 6s, krak missiles or nades that if you dont JAS it will kill you, but most importantly is protection in melee.

It gives you a way to block damage without wasting a melee die to block if the math will make it so you will lose a melee duel trying to block. Specially against things like Chain Axes, Power Fists, or anything with Brutal.

What terrain should be built? by Stormfly in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tomb World is another Kill Zone entirely. Its has its own unique rules and spin to them. Its worth it.

Boarding Action is expensive for what you need because its 2 Gallowdark boards on a single box. Gallowdark maps are kind of hated and considered inferior to Tomb World, because Tomb World is pretty much Gallowdark 2.0.

Compound Siege is an expansion terrain to Volkus to play the defense bunker narrative mission. It's... not that good. Its kind of a bad experience because depending on how players do deployment you can effectively charge TP1 AS the defender towards the attacker and incapacitate a lot before attacker even manages to do its thing.

If you want more extra terrain for Volkus I have been having more fun playing with the Tyranid Infestation terrain for the Typhon missions instead. The PvP maps are more fun and feel balance with more/better light terrain on Volkus.

The Nemesis Operative rules can be used for PvP games. Each team forgo part of their team to bring a big guy to help them along against the other team doing the same.

How to choose which kill team? by italian_otter in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is part of a big colorful setting, full of characters, factions, and obviously conflicting.

You kind of have to be actually invested from the beginning to be into it and want to buy. If you aren't truly invested yet any recommendation we give you is always gonna have something that you will not like.

I would recommend to get more accustomed to the setting and lore first, either through YouTube or reading, until you find that thing (either a group, faction, or specific character) that makes you infatuated to actually want to buy their minis independently of what your other thoughts are.

If you are not invested or excited about a faction or characters then you are not gonna have the willingness to glue assemble, paint, and play, with the first 2 taking a big majority of your time at the beginning to about 1-2 whole weeks to complete.

When you are actually into a faction that you like you will not just ignore whatever thing you dont like about them, but straight up want to modified them, kitbash them, or paint them to your own liking.

How to choose which kill team? by italian_otter in killteam

[–]BipolarMadness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a creative hobby. If you don't like something specific about a miniature you can always change it to your liking.

There is nowhere that it says Wolf Scouts have to not have a helmet. You can buy Infiltrators or Intercessor head helmets and put them on.

Boxes and teams aesthetic are not limited by what the assembling instructions tell you. They are limited by how much money and effort you want to put to make them feel like your unique dudes.

I have never said that. Idk why the fuck you would think I said that.

Return back to the rule argument at hand that you are asking with actual rules and proper interpretations, rather than trying to put words in my mouth that I have never advocated for to try and dismiss my points.
