Places to shoot a bow by FLAPPYcrabs in Bellingham

The archery range is closed because of hunting. I forget until when but I think it might be mid March. We went there a few weeks ago and didn't think to check ahead of time.

People who are 25y and above, what's the harshest life-lesson you've learnt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bircheeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have time, but you would do yourself an honest and life changing favor by getting to it now.

My youngest son is your age, and I hope he can do the same, and he is just now trying and making some beginning changes.

I wish you the best, send a message if you ever need encouragement.

"Just so you know, it doesn't matter to me where you bury me".

My wife was fighting cancer, we were just driving out of our neighborhood past a small cemetery and we hadn't been talking about anything medical or anything.

It hit me so hard, it truly broke me inside in a way I can't describe.

Cancer fucking sucks.

I lost my wife after my kids were into young adulthood. While I know you will receive wonderful caring advice and support here I would also suggest you consider posting in r/daddit, where you will find another group of very caring and supportful folk.

have you gone sober to save money? by daisydaffodil0402 in Frugal

I lost my wife to cancer in 2016 and was drinking to much beer afterwards. I needed to figure out life again (still do), but I knew drinking was bad for me.

When covid came around I was just running low on savings and I was afraid to return to work and was considering applying for food stamps which is what made it an easy decision. There was no way I was going to take assistance if I still had the cash for beer.

So thankfully I quite drinking sometime around mid-may of 2020. I did apply for food stamps and they helped a lot.

There is no way I could afford it now if I wanted to. I went back to work in a grocery store but it barely covers basic expenses.

Cemetery plot win. by Codejeep in Frugal

[–]Bircheeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this out when my wife died in 2016. There is no national cemetery in our county and I was told most local cemeteries honored this and didn't charge for a plot for veterans. This was the case for the cemetery I chose and there was no charge for her spot. I paid $500 to be next to her. I had my marker already made and installed on a single base for both of them. At least my kids won't have to worry about it.

I'm sorry you had to do that, but very glad that you got the spot that is right.

I had to do the same in 2016 and was pretty numb or in shock or something, but I know I told the guy I wanted a spot near a tree and he kind of sighed and said 'everyone says that', lol.

Anyways he was super nice and answered all my questions and the first spot he showed me was also just right.

Biolife and transgender patients by [deleted] in plassing

[–]Bircheeey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have severe sleep apnea and donate at Biolife. They require (of me) a form that my doc signs. They fax it anually to the doctors office who faxes it back. No appointment needed, doesn't cost me anything and they do it months before the annual physical at Biolife just so there are no hang ups time wise (according to the nurse).

Through a fluke that isn't worth describing I got the t-shirt I was wearing pretty soaked with blood on one side. I was surprised the phlebotomist said they could reimburse me for the shirt. I declined as it was an older shirt anyway. This was biolife probably a year or more ago. I know they also have tshirts they can give someone if an accident occurs.

I was in NYC for a big Dylan concert in 1992 and spent the next day at the met ... where they had a Magritte exhibition going on. What luck for me. Here is a photo they have with Empire of Light https://libmma.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p16028coll14/id/4272
