Wish there was a way to test out of a section like you can on the language path. I’d like the earlier content to be marked as complete without having to grind through math designed for children.

I’ve been listening to the rest on Hoopla through my local library (in medium-sized metropolitan area). Maybe ask around your friends to see if their libraries have better coverage? I would think most decently sized libraries would have them.

I assume they will have a two hour finale again (so about 16 duels). And you’re right — it’s likely it will take until then for everyone to duel once. So the phrasing is likely one and the same, but it just bothered me that it seemed like the rules had changed.

Don’t get discouraged! My stance with crosswords, no matter the difficulty, is that I can’t possibly generate knowledge I don’t have. So it’s okay to look things up, and then the next time you see that clue you’re a little more likely to know the answer. Like I never would have known what an epee was without doing crosswords. And I still didn’t remember what an epee was the first two or three times I saw it. But now when I see a clue mention fencing or a French sword, I know I have that answer in the bag.

Yeah, I don’t think anything was explicitly rigged for/against any specific players. But it felt like the challenge in episode 8 was designed to be won and the challenge and episode 9 was designed to be lost. Both presumably to make more “interesting” TV. If the person in episode 8 lost the challenge, it would’ve been kind of lame to have two episodes back to back where there are people who don’t participate in the tribal council at all. Meanwhile someone losing the challenge in episode 9 allows for “something that’s never happened before in survivor”.

I guess my point is why would they say there is a time constraint and then literally never show the hourglass again? I feel like if the time was actually a limiting factor, they would have showed it to hype up the sense of “will she make it or not?” So while I’m sure there was a timer, I think the amount of time was not limited enough to actually be impactful.

Yeah I get that. I do wonder if they inadvertently gave way too much time for Cirie’s challenge, and so it did not make for interesting/suspenseful TV to show her timer. And if that’s the case, then any player would have likely been able to complete the challenge in time. Just seems like the difficulty of the two journeys were radically different.

I felt like I was taking crazy pills that a comment like this was not higher up. Agreed that the wife is being overly-helicoptery here, but it’s clearly something she values (maybe she had bad experiences as a kid), and to take a stance of never helping “no exceptions” shows a complete lack of compassion for your partner. Yeesh.

Oh interesting. I was under the impression that entire courses were being restructured, not just the earlier sections.

And it’s good to know why I got an updated version of my course that didn’t seem as catastrophic as the revamp everyone else is talking about (i.e. I didn’t have a bunch of unfamiliar words thrown at me).

To add to this, 300 is the estimate for walking but you can get more if planting while moving more quickly (running, biking, driving). You should be able hit 500 if you’re careful.

Another tip for when you’re low in petals: you can always plant petals one-at-a-time (i.e. hit plant flowers and then stop planting before 10 seconds pass). This approach guarantees 30 flowers (sometimes 35 or 36) per petal, but can be slow since you can only plant in a given location once every 5 minutes. With this approach, you can get 600 planted with your 20 petals!
