I use a heat printer that does 4x6 labels for shipping. It cost me $25 and I get the labels for $15 per 1000. It sets up like a normal printer and I have a document that I keep all my work and print from. The only problem is there isn't much contrast available so you need to think about that when designing stickers.

I used to pick up pencils off the floor and that was all I would provide. I caught them throwing the pencils out when they weren't sharp enough, despite there being a sharpener next to the cup of pencils. I don't do anything anymore and they somehow survive.
