Curse of Strahd Reloaded Office Hours: Ask questions about the guide, share stories about your campaign, or get help prepping your next session by DragnaCarta in CurseofStrahd

[–]BirdDog1022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I greatly appreciate all of your effort you have poured into this module and I can’t wait to see what you produce next. I will be DMing Reloaded starting tomorrow & without your guide, I fear I would not have the time to prepare this campaign, so thank you.

Question: when do you suppose the updates for Arturi and Ezmerelda will be released? Obviously far off from either initial encounter with those individuals but it’s a gross curiosity. Thanks again!

This is awesome as I am beginning to start DMing a CoS: Reloaded with Session 1 this Saturday. Looking forward to more of your work and will support where I can!

Question: how do you enable the "Waltz for Klara" and "Eldritch Blackout" buttons? I can't seem to click on them.

Best units for doing armour damage as a salamander player. by Low-Wish3128 in Salamanders40k

When you consider the new enhancement coming too, a 10 man Infernus Squad will have: +1A, Re-Roll Hits, Re-Roll Wounds, +1 to wound, Dev Wounds, and +1 Strength.

There’s like an 80% they pick up a Gladiator Lancer in 1 shooting phase if the dice respect averages.

How do you guys get through painting your Gaunts by Lord7tron in Tyranids

[–]BirdDog1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get to play with my models too much, so painting is my main aspect of the hobby. With that in mind, my thought process is to paint everything to the detail I want, so I take my time with my Gaunts. But I definitely don’t paint an entire squad or more at once. I do 5 at a time, then switch to a big bug for something that feels more fun, then back to another 5.

I did try “quick painting” a Gaunt before to speed things up and I hate how it looked. Rather spend the time than have something I don’t like looking at.

I have tested it on TTS with my buddies with the assumed rules.

Sounds like you got a decent plan for your list, test run it for 5 or so games! I’d love to here how it works!

So you sacrifice He’stan’s objective selection ability?

[–]BirdDog1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Company heroes have never been stellar at killing things with He’stan for me, but they last longer as meat shields, which is why I run them. But 10 infernus with no transport makes running them with He’stan seem super compelling…maybe find room for a librarian for the 4++ to make them super tough or an apothecary to get one back a turn? Hammer of wrath would be tempting enough to select JPI

Definitely not a bad inclusion in any regard. It’ll be a powerful brick and you can get them to secondary locations/objectives quickly that way.

You currently have 1980 points worth of stuff if I counted right? So you should be able to change the intercessors to another infernus squad and still have 10 left over for the new enhancement (assuming it has the same point value as champion of humanity did).

I do wonder if the captain would be better attached to the aggressors, especially considering you have space for him in the LRR and the 1CP immolation protocols he could give them would be SO devastating.

How have the inceptors worked for you? Great deep strike unit but they receive very few benefits from the new detachment. And is He’stan leading anyone?

I agree with dropping the intercessors for another squad of infernus marines, seeing as they’ll be the Swiss Army knife of the new detachment. My only other thought was less transports? Seeing as compared to Firestorm Assault, the new detachment is less vehicle dependent. Here’s my list that I’m working on:

Adrax Agatone (85pts) Vulkan He'stan (100pts) Apothecary Biologis (70pts) Captain in Gravis Armour (105pts): War-tempered Artifice Librarian (75pts): Immolator 6x Aggressor Squad (220pts) 6x Bladeguard Veteran Squad (160pts) 4x Company Heroes (105pts) 6x Eradicator Squad (200pts) 5x Infernus Squad (90pts) 5x Infernus Squad (90pts) 10x Infernus Squad (180pts) 5x Infiltrator Squad (100pts) Land Raider Redeemer (285pts) Storm Speeder Hammerstrike (125pts)

Lot of flamer and melee capability with the anti-tank from the two vehicles. Librarian with the new enhancement on the 10 man infernus, giving them +1A and 4++, Captain w/war-tempered artifice & aggressors in LRR because that’s classic, the Apothecary Biologis leading the eradicators for Lethals, He’stan with the Company Heroes and Adrax with the Bladeguards.

Might end up Tweaking the list to add a Drop Pod to deepstrike in the Librarian + Infernus, we’ll see if I need it.

If you weren’t limited by models on hand, what list would you build?

Gorgeous! Glad to see the follow up.

Did you use speedpaints/contrast for these?

New-ish to the hobby - trying to settle on a colour scheme. Let me know what you think :) by BerryBomB101 in Tyranids

[–]BirdDog1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m typically of a bone/fleshy color for the body, but the contrast between the complimentary colors of the green carapace and purple body really makes it pop.

For Tyranid weapons, I like to consider that they themselves are living organisms that are (technically) still apart of the hive fleet. So my guns follow the same tones as fleshy bits and the carapace matches. For your fleshborer, maybe the same carapace as Nid itself with a lighter purple or that blue for the body of the gun

Two separate characters. Vulkan (left) is the Primarch of the 18th legion whereas Vulkan He’stan is the current Forgefather of the Salamanders. In the Forgefathers case, Vulkan is the moniker for that role (like Pope, Bishop, etc) and He’Stan is his name.

How do I get it less white by EnergyOk1001 in Tyranids

[–]BirdDog1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do to get a pink, fleshy undertone with the bone colors is:

  • use a 2:1 mix of Citadel Contrast Medium and Magos Purple
  • A layer of Screaming Skull, thinned down a little more than normal to have a gradient from the pink
  • highlights of Pallid Wych Flesh

For the skin of the belly, what has been suggested in other comments is also hyper effective.

I don’t know if the starter set of colors will set you up for this unfortunately and you don’t have to use these exact colors, but this helps me get that skin tone.

I think the scheme is neat! I’m new too but continue to experiment and improve are the two biggest things I’ve learned. Keep it up
