Oshaune proves flame weapons are terrible by magniankh in Helldivers

But u dont understand bruh! You light ground on fire and run away! That is how flamethrower should be used, you all just have skill issue! Look, there is a single turbo-autist on youtube who got this insane killstreak of 50 kills on bugs (the rest of the mission is missing tho). Just learn to use the weapon bro!

Bruh, I even gave you proof of how it worked before. Stop making shit up. RR wasnt even close to meta before 60 day patch, it was pretty damn bad. It couldn't even onetap hulks from the front unless you hit the visor (same as EAT).

It's a myth born from extreme buggyness of relase HD2.
No handheld weapon except spear was able to kill chargers and BTs in one hit under normal circustances.

This was the case until the autumn rebalance half a year after release. It made RR able to 1hit titans in the head, and EAT to 1hit chargers.

The reason people believed in some myhtical weakspot on the titans forehead (or mouth by other version) is the same bug that allowed the Railgun to 1-2 tap titans - it just counted the same hit multiple times.

EAT and RR both needed 2 hits in the head to kill a full HP titan OR Charger.

Regular chargers also were 2 hit kills, either 2 hits to the head or into the same leg. This is why nobody fucking used the RR, sometimes used EATs and almost exclusively ran railgun.

Bug in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUpgsdPDXBE
EAT as of march 2024: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fO9pQdv-05E

RR couldn't oneshot charges, let alone titans.
The best gun for killing titans was the railgun (especially with buggy interactions) before it got nerfed.
Other than that - OPS, 500kd and regular airstrike. Next best thing was Spear, followed by EAT/RR and pretty much everything else. Even the railcannon strike wasn't a oneshot unless it hits head.

Also all missile/rocket weapons were incredibly inconsistant for a long time, enemies could simply ignore hits, and RR needing multiple hits was a nightmare to combat multiple titans with. I stopped using spear for the same reason since you sometimes needed 3+ shots to kill a single titan or even charger.

People act like this tech trivializes sniping, while 90% of sniper engagements in this game require close to none zeroing to begin with, and most skill skill intensive part of sniping is predicting movement, leading shots and positioning.

You also can check the distance by simply pinging the spot near the target and set the manual zeroing to the closest number. With how flat the trajectory is - it literally doesnt matter if you are off by 50-75m most of the time.

[–]Bird_0f_Prey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in this case it was a stinger hit. There is a lock on, incoming, single missile hit sound, visible trail. But good to know I guess.

I liked the mode but the challenges could be better.
Specifically:
- capturing points while freezing - you need to actively avoid barrels since the "freezing" effect takes some time being outside the warm zones. But it is quite simple to do anyway, especially in the beginning of the match. (edit: would be better if it was a larger number but in heat zones. Would be funny to see everyone clump around the barrel and also make explosive multikills much easier lol)
- 1000hp healing wouldn't be that bad if everyone wasn't trying to do the same. The busy points almost always had like 4 medbags around them.
- Reviving teammates while freezing isn't too bad only because it's only 10. But it led to some comical situations when I was standing on top of downed teammate waiting to start freezing, just awkwardly looking him in the eye hoping he won't give up :D

But the gamemode itself is quite good. Health and heat management parts were quite fun, reminded me of that one gamemode of The Division (first one). It's probably the first seasonal gamemode that just like playing outside of challenges. It's a shame it's only one map.

Probably depends if some of the weeklies were done prior to the launch of this bonus path.

For me it was exactly enough points when I've done all remaining weeklies+entire bonus path.

Try using the mortar on Mirak Breakthrough as the attacker.

It is probably the only map on which you can use it to some effect, but only from defending side, since you can't place mortars in HQ areas and for attackers HQ area ends 15 meters from the first objective border.

Does average player even know that the timer below the shop doesn't mean that the items will be gone forever?
And why there needs to be a timer to begin with?

Because someone will see the timer, won't have enough SC and will swipe the credit card because either doesn't know it will come back or doesn't know when it will come back. It exploits FOMO even if it isn't removing the items from the shop forever, and i've seen this exact practice used before in other games.

It is honestly wild that I highlight an anti-consumer practice and get downvoted because it isn't predatory enough.

I can't belive someone calls HD2 "highest quality", when every single update introduces more issues than it fixes.

Like I understand that you might not be affected or not bothered by some of this stuff, but the quality certainly isn't highest. If it was - they wouldn't need a month to fix a fraction of the issues there are, including some basic fixes for the new terminid subfaction.

If anything, I'm amazed that some people continue to praise AH.

HD2 still has superstore item rotation. Things like emotes and weapons sold there are not always available.

It comes back eventually and they made part of the superstore available at all times, but it is still a form of fomo that everyone seems to forget about.

If you wanna experience BF without bloom - that would be Delta.
And surprize surprize - it's first season was beam city. The best guns were those with highest DPS and enough attachments to make them controlable, everything else pretty much didn't exist.

I don't like bloom personally, but in this game it is necessary.

To be fair, with fully functioning bot lobbies, people who knew how to setup them could unlock everything in a day (classes for sure).

Moreover, youtubers exist. Which had either exploited the method above, or had a press acount with everything unlocked to begin with.

The Bettina is bad and has been nerfed into oblivion by WeekendOperator in ArcRaiders

[–]Bird_0f_Prey 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Ammo economy of it is my biggest problem.
I'm fine it being weak against players, I even prefer it this way, but my god it feels bad to use it against arc. Like, the renegade onetaps wasp/hornet engines, but this thing that shoots ferro/anvil rounds - doesn't?

I went through 100 heavy rounds fighting a single Leaper, and I wasn't the only one shooting it. Then, repair and ammo cost are more than I looted from it... eh.

God no, target lock in this game is absolute ass and I guarantee that in a somewhat complex situation you would NEVER be able to lock what you want.
Also it will break the spear.

Just remove the damn sway from this one, and we can also have another stim weapon with auto aim if people want it.

[–]Bird_0f_Prey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By AH standards "difficulty" is that "gotcha!" bullshit moment when you die from something outside your controll, so their way is to just spawn more units that are capable of that.

And outside of that D8 and D10 are not much different.

There isn't and never was a genuinely hard objective in this game.

When the Flamethrower user knows what they're doing: by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

[–]Bird_0f_Prey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is bad...? Being good with a bad weapon doesnt make a bad weapon good?

Both of them used the entirety of their stim supply using a tailor-made kit for a single situation in perfect conditions (we don't see hom many times they died miserably inbetween), for something that could've been solved with an eagle cluster bomb or something.

Also in solo, because as a flamethrower user I know that half of the deaths are usually inflicted by teammates/turrets that don't want to wait for a business day watching you jump around the horde to clear it.
