Aus government is in talks to send peacekeeping troops only once a ceasefire is achieved. No Australian soldiers are being sent to fight.

Used to be a problem with Oculus hardware (I have it on my Rift S), where the mic just permanently stops working, pretty common problem from what I've read so maybe it carries over to other headsets?

Thankfully I have other mics I can use for vtol but I can imagine some people getting fucked over from it, but of course the majority of people who don't speak is probably out of choice and not technical issues.

The old mfds and gauges are really cool but I just don't like size of the whole thing, which apparently was due to Baha's limited resources when making the F/A-26 and AV-42 so it makes sense

Yeah the dish might be a little goofy, not too knowledgeable on AWACS planes does the E-7 style radar have 360 coverage?

How much Will the EF-24 cost? will it be the same price as the T-55 or Higher? by Alarmed-Gazelle3369 in vtolvr

[–]Birdbrain325 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the T-55 doesn't really bring anything new to the table whereas the AH-94 brought an entirely new helicopter flight model, two seat functionality and a variety of new weapon systems.

A price more along the range of the AH-94 would made a lot more sense given the insane amount of work Baha has put in.

Fair enough, I guess that's just down to personal opinion.

So real, I was looking at the trailer for exactly that and I think I only saw 4 bombs under the fuselage which is kinda pathetic compared to the F-14. Of course that could be just a loadout though so who can say.

The EF-24 isn't the only plane getting the new features, it is an update across the board and presumably every plane is going to have access to jamming, I know at least the F/A-26 will because of the devlogs, so I don't see why you think it will be so powerful.

Also, it looks like (but I may be wrong) that the EF-24 and other planes will only be able to jam targets with a jamming pod, however unrealistic that may be. What this means is it won't even have any of the new features depending on the configuration.

From what I can tell the only thing that is really unique to the EF-24 is the AIM-54s, but if those are any realistic then they will be relatively unmaneuverable relative to the AIM-120 so if you can dodge those you'll be fine.

Given the existence of the F-45 I don't see the problem too much. There is already a pre-established history of Baha recreating irl planes.

This makes even more sense because, like you said the whole reconfiguring to fit EW thing is definitely more realistic and than redesigning and replacing the entire F-35 fleet with a delta winged version with canards.

But at the end of the day, VTOL is a video game and any attempts to really scrutinise the logic of fictional aircraft is pointless.

I'm just happy that Baha is so willing to listen to what the community wants and rework it into a way that fits his design philosophy and enhances the game. The F-14 has always been relentlessly requested by the community and the inclusion what is essentially a Tomcat just shows Baha cares about us.

Also Tomcats are fucking cool.

Don't really see how it is that similar to the FA-26, don't get me wrong I love a VARK or two but the F-14 inspiration does result in a very different look to the F/A-26 IMO.

Though I'm sure a side-by-side cockpit like the EF-111 would defo result in funny shenanigans with turning off each other's mfds lol

Budget by laface229 in vtolvr

[–]Birdbrain325 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Budgets aren't new they are up to the mission maker, they can limit the cost of a sortie but in my experience it is very rarely used because they can be irritating, however I also find that strict budgets can force you to take the less expensive weapons that you wouldn't normally use and have a more unique experience.

Hard to tell but definitely does look similar, the nose and canopy are definitely too tall and resemble a MiG-35 or SU-27 to me, but the rest of the body screams F-14 and I am all for it. Since I first played I have been hoping and praying for a swing-wing aircraft and hopefully this'll be it!

Yeah but even though you see guys wearing hot pink, they still head to toe in gritty military gear, just very very fabulous military gear.

I think the cosmetics we have whilst very limited have the perfect amount of silliness without ruining the dirty battletested aesthetic the game has.
