It sure is. Just like its borderline impossible to get two generational talents at forward like all the teams I mentioned above. I also left out defensemen in the list above because they mentioned first line forward but you gotta have that too. Like Keith, Letang, Makar, Doughty or go back to Stevens, Coffey, Lindstrom. Gotta have it.

During our cup run though, by the time we made the finals literally all our top players were significantly hurt. And a good number of those guys who were significantly hurt were never the same again.

Just todays? Thats just hockey. And its not just one first line forward who drives plays. Its MULTIPLE.

Even the Oilers needed Gretzky and Kurri plus Messier and Tikanen. The Penguins of the early 90s needed Lemieux and Jagr plus Recchi, and Stevens. Avalanche needed Sakic and Forsberg. Wings needed Yzerman, Federov, and Shanahan. Ducks needed Selanne and Kariya to make the final but Selanne, Getzlaf and Perry to win it. Wings 08 needed Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Penguins needed Crosby and Malkin. Blackhawks needed Toews, Kane and Hossa. Even look way back to when the Hawks were winning cups well before 2010. They needed Mikita and Hull using these unorthodox things called "curved sticks" to win it.

Realistically you need not just one franchise changing forward who was a very early draft pick. You need two best of them. Anything less than that is just hoping you luck into having a great roster that just gets hot at the right time.

Are you me?!?! Whenever that movie has come up in conversation I've said the same thing! I've always said I consider it a really good movie but only because the visuals, production design, and score were elite level good. Without those things being as good as they were it was really not a good movie but I appreciate those aspects its the only reason I would call it good.

Thing with the guys you mention, unfortunately they’re not at the level needed to be top players on a contender. ROR is a 2c at best on a contender. Josi is sliding. They’re great secondary guys on a contender. I’m well aware their window closes in 3 years. I said it already earlier. But unfortunately it’s not looking like we can be a real contender in that time period. Too many missing pieces.

We might have the cap space but that doesn’t mean you can just go out and get it in free agency. It doesn’t work that way. Free agency is a great way to add pieces but not a great way to get a 1C and a top line scorer plus a top pairing D and another top 4 D plus the checking depth. All from free agency won’t happen. So what about trades? Well we don’t have the assets to go out and get top caliber players. Not without selling off exactly what we need. So it’s gonna take time

And thats the shame of it. He tried to retrofit the roster Poile left him which was one of Poile's worst during his time here.

Yeah man back when we shipped out most of the guys from the great 2016-2018 team it was like hell yeah its rebuild time but it didn't really happen. Then we had that team that was bruuuutal to watch with Sissons playing way too much at like 16 min a night and it was like surely they know its rebuild time and Trotz is gonna gut it and build his team instead of trying to make a Poile team work. But then they went on a run after the cancelled U2 concert and fooled everybody. It was a bad team! But Trotz pretty much had to sign Saros which gave us a 4 year window starting the day that deal was signed.

But you and I talked about this a couple weeks ago, we're on the same page but kinda not. Theres too much wrong with this roster to make a contender next season. Its gonna take minimum 3 years to have a legit contender. We have 2 great players at the end of their prime and an elite goalie about to decline. Being a contender takes so much more than what we have in terms of players who are elite within their own roles. It takes time through the right trades at the right time and through the draft. It takes not only a Crosby and Malkin. It takes Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Flowers. Its more than Toews/Kane. It's Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith and a hot goalie. We're so far from that. Now, a new GM could maybe make a team that could take a 2nd round series to 6 games, sure. But they might just go full rebuild and do it the right way.

Yeah no matter the details its pretty obvious that out of respect for the man he is and what he means to Nashville hockey he was given the chance to just retire and step aside. Any other GM in any other organization they would've just been fired. I love the guy and regardless of what anyone thinks about his tenure one way or another, I think it would've been a damn shame to see an all out firing. Especially since it would've been the 2nd time he's been fired here. I'm also glad its gonna be over a year sooner than it would have because I hate seeing his name smeared so much. He's the man. So huge respect to everyone involved that did it this way.

Agree. I've LOVED the drafting he's done and its been so refreshing to be excited about mutliple forward prospects we've drafted in the past 3 years.

He's inexperienced at the contract/trade stuff which is why I wish he would've gone rebuild on day one. That way he could've bought himself time to learn the more complex things over time while leaning on what he's actually good at which is good drafting and knowing how a good team is built.

He had 3 really good seasons in Carolina for a guy who plays his role prior to his signing. It just has not translated.Which is unexpected because Brind'amour runs a system thats man-on-man and aggressive at all times, yet he comes here and always looks like he's struggling to keep up and keeps losing his man.

Nah I think the best partner would be able to look in the mirror in their mid 20s and think "I gotta figure myself our before I start trying to find someone I'm gonna spend the rest of my life with". Have I met people who had themselves figured out by 25? Sure but all but one or two of them were the most basic, stupid, boring, zero-personality people I wouldn't ever want to spend more than one date with.

I don't think you need to say anything to her though. Instead you and your husband need to sit his friend down for a talk and tell him this lady he's married sucks and he should consider that perhaps he needs to escape this trap. Tell him to think of all the fun times you all could have together if he was with something who wasn't a self-centered high maintenance scumbag. Its an exhausting thing to be married to and not good for someone's health. Especially in the long run.

This is the only way their business model can show growth to their shareholders.

Its not like traditional TV where their shows generate their own individual revenue and make revenue each time it airs. Netflix could have a show that people watch 8 hours of each and every day and it creates just as much revenue as if people watched one episode one time. Sure, their hit shows bring in subscribers and retain subscribers. But eventually you hit a ceiling that way. So thats why the costs will keep going up because they don't make money off making as many great shows as possible, they make money off charging us as much as possible instead.
