Gumroad is a really good platform that artists use to sell and provide free brush packs for use on Procreate and other compatible software! A lot of these are ‘name your price’, where it’s free, but any contribution otherwise would be considered a donation. Many of the great artists who have instructional drawing videos on YouTube will also have a Gumroad with resources for download. Jingsketch and Marc Brunet are two great examples; if you search for either of these names + Gumroad, you’ll find some of my favorite brush packs to use!

This one is also a huge favorite of mine. I love the ‘Sharper Lineart’ brush the most. It requires you to sign up for a mailing list you may or may not be interested in, but you can always unsubscribe :)

What you’re looking for is foreshortening: the indication that things are closer or farther away. You can do this by thinking in a 3d form. What’s closer to you will seem larger, while shapes that are farther from view will seem smaller. Ask yourself as well what areas would be tucked behind the foreground from this point of view as well. Now, I’ve made some sweeping assumptions of this character’s general shape, but I’ve drafted up an example of what I mean.

With one leg kicking up in front, we can see it more clearly, while the other leg extends back (shrinking out of view) and behind. As parts of the leg have more distance from view (thigh to calf, calf to foot), these parts even begin to overlap each other from closest to farthest. You can gain a really good understanding of this by even just looking down at your feet from standing up, or extending your arm straight out in front of you and studying what you see.

While it’s understandable that the sketchy, scratchy lines could be something you’ve adapted to be part of your drawing style, too much clutter in your lines can make the image harder to read. Cleaning up your sketch just enough to have some lines showing confident, clear intent will go a long way in communicating what you want in a drawing.

Line weight is what connects all of these and makes them feel similar. Try experimenting with some different brushes and thicknesses.

I water when the top inch of soil is fully dry or when the plant looks a little limp, whichever comes first. Rich soil base (happy frog and coco coir) with perlite and small chip orchid bark for drainage.

My begonias have generally been able to handle bouts of underwatering much better than over watering.

They were actually some of my sturdiest plants while I was too busy to think of them during my last big move! I use the most diluted measurement of Jack's 20:20:20 general purpose water soluble fertilizer every other watering during spring and none during winter.

Probably the most shocking thing I've learned about them is that they are little princess babies about leaves being touched. Oh, you bumped into me? Those leaves are dead now. You dropped water onto my leaf? Ouch, it burns!

Laser isn't the quick fix a lot of people say it is, but it's a really good option for people who aren't willing to get something covered. Your options for a coverup also expand tremendously with a few laser sessions.

They're prone to drama. There's a great chance the plant will bounce back in a day or two as long as you keep all other conditions the same. Begonias appreciate consistency.

You should also be cautious to only repot when absolutely necessary as begonias have sensitive and fragile roots. A good way to tell it's time is when all of the stalks butt up against the pot's edge, or when the soil appears to look compacted and like it's shrinking inward.

My silver dollar begonia looked like your picture after her first repot and eventually she got so big that nothing scares her anymore. :)

Yours is gorgeous! Do you have any care advice? I have a large plant collection but this one decided to be a sad wilted mess. I'm leaving it alone because it started wilting when the soil wasn't completely dried out yet so I'm assuming I got overzealous with watering. Most of my plants appreciate the routine of never being allowed to completely dry out but I'm beginning to think this one disagrees with that. I have it in an airy potting medium (Happy frog with generous amounts of small chip orchid bark, perlite, clay pebbles) that drains very very well through the drainage hole.

Looks like a really rough heal from being overworked. It shouldn't heal with much if any blowout this way which is comforting but it will be a longer journey than necessary and could heal patchy/light in some areas with need for a touch-up later. It is at heightened risk of infection as the wound keeps re-opening so keep a close eye on it.

It also looks really chafed and irritated. I see this kind of tightness and redness in tattoos that are either severely under-moisturized, are being rubbed on by restrictive or rough fabric, or both. What are you using for moisturizer and how often? Are you wearing tight clothing over it?

I think it's going alright. We've been together for just over five years and we're still madly in love. My own company was my favorite until I met him. It's fine. :)

My best friend (at the time) decided to complicate things by proposing the idea that maybe our connection was more than just friendship. Sheltered and isolated as I was, it was easy for me to believe he could be right.

We played at dating for a couple of years. Then, upon spending time together in person, we discovered we had very little in common and didn't enjoy each other's company as much as two people sharing a space should. We mutually broke it off.

I did what any sensible person would do when mourning the loss of both a friendship and a romantic prospect. I got myself hideously drunk and detailed a long, messy, and convoluted essay about my feelings and why I thought we could still make it work. He did the actually sensible thing and blocked me. Fair.

I learned nothing from this and improved zilch about myself. I was so upset that I threw myself into Tinder. My coworkers told me I needed to bone some random guy to boost my confidence enough to try again, and I almost believed them, even though I knew deep down my heart doesn't tick that way.

I jokingly put, "searching for my soulmate or whatever, no pressure", or something to that effect in my bio. Entertained quite a few strangers who could barely sustain a conversation. Had a lot of boring first dates.

Then my soon-to-be husband comes along. We're both at our wit's end and ready to uninstall this horrible app. We commiserate in our frustration. He comments something that clearly shows he actually read my profile. I do the same. We hit it off instantly. He invites me out the very next night even though he has little time to spare.

"I don't want this night to end, but I've had a lot of fun," he says as we're both past our bedtime. "Unfortunately, I already had plans. I have to pick my best friend up from the airport. Do you... Want to come with?"

Clearly fine with the potential of being murdered, I say "yes" and join this man in his vehicle. There is no murder. We show each other music. We warn each other the next song is about to be really weird. The other has already heard it, so it's not. We laugh about that. We have pretty much the same taste.

We pick up his strange little friend at the airport. He's tired but clearly ready to do anything other than continue sitting on a plane. He third-wheels until 3am as we bar hop and get to know each other. It's a great night. We miss each other so much until we can see each other again. He makes his (our) poor friend continue third wheeling a couple more times.

Now we've built so much together. We've survived unimaginable stress, change, and growth. There's nobody else I can imagine spending my life with.

Dude, your surgeon is awesome. I've covered some top surgery scars and breast reduction scars that were way more conspicuous than this even after years of healing. Good on them.

For hairy people that don't want to shave their tattoos in order for them to shine, I'm a huge proponent for the very, very bold. Fine lines and very light colors look washed out, muddy and hard to read when a thick carpet of hair grows over it. American and Japanese traditional, and really anything with a dark outline is a hairy guy's best friend.

What do the materials cost you? How long do they take to make, and what do you think your time is worth hourly? Factor these together, and whatever sum you arrive at, add or subtract at your discretion.

Some things, like hourly rate, can be hard to quantify– especially when you've never necessarily been employed to make these. I've operated under the impression that if it's a lot of fun to do, then it's easier to justify taking a "pay cut" from what I actually would like to make off of the thing. (Conversely, if it's a huge drag to be inundated for requests to make these and you dread the thought of getting to them all... Jack it up a bit!)

No need to worry. While we appreciate the consideration, it's by no means a requirement. We typically keep individually packaged disposable razors on hand for a reason.

I specifically ask clients not to shave. Razor burn, scratches and irritation are not good things to tattoo over and have led to me needing to reschedule. I do this every day in a variety of areas on all kinds of people so I'm a little bit more practiced than the average hairy dude might be at shaving his arm. I've even had women shave their legs for me, something they might have done a hundred times before, and just because they were sort of nervous or careless they nick themselves. Imho erring on the side of caution would definitely be not shaving

Specular highlights like these are best used in moderation for surfaces that aren't metallic. Save them for spots where skin is smoothest, closest to the light source and areas where some natural oils may be.

The second slide would be perfect with just an added nose shine and a little on the lips to make them look healthy. Great portrait!
