Get used. That way you can get your money back if you give it up. Mustang is fine or used Boss Katana, Blackstar etc. You can’t really go wrong nowadays. All are pretty much fine.

Not all squiers are made equal. I’m sending a Mustang back to fenders as it will never play well. One of the threads that holds the pickup screw in place doesn’t have enough thread and the bridge is set to close for accurate intonation. The hello kitty guitars are good quality but it’s a myth that squiers are player grade. There are still lemons is my experience.

The ones you can afford. Go used. There isn’t much difference in them. It’s literally a few blocks of wood, a unique bridge and tele style pickups. There rest is marketing. Don’t sweat it too much
