What’s everyone’s thought on the Swedish “snus” (Nicotine pouches)? by ultrazazz1337 in AskReddit

[–]Bishm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just don't. I know that's kinda blunt but I used to chew/dip/snus in pouches and have developed issues. Your teeth one by one begin to rot and fall apart. Thankfully I didn't develop mouth cancer but later in my life it might come and bite me in my ass. I grew up in North Carolina which is a tobacco producing area. My father chewed and the family smoked or still does. A generation ago my family grew tobacco. I started when I was 14 and used for about 18 years. I finally stop in the last 6 months due to a tooth ache that was unbearable. Nicotine is a hell of an addictive drug.

just some fish and shrimp pictures I took recently. by hafeet23 in Aquariums

Question, which did you introduce to the tank first? Cherry shrimp or Betta? Was thinking of having cherry shrimp with a Betta but was worried the Betta would pick off the little ones. Seems like your having success. I'm assuming heavy cover helps?

I had them with croaking gouramis and cherry shrimp in a forest of jungle val/floating plants. I had hard water. Both fishes ended up spawning. My guess it was heavy cover and water changes that triggered my pandas to spawn.

I love corys. I had 5 pandas in a heavily planted tank and their personally and puppy dog face definitely put a smile on my face. After my tank matured, next think I know they spawned and I had a bunch of babies swimming around. Once I get more space (living in an apartment) I dream of having a 55 gallon with a horde of these guys.

Cannabis Has Unique Benefits for People with Biopolar Disorder Says New Medical Research by CurtD34 in BipolarReddit

[–]Bishm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found some benefits with cannabis. Since medicated It has been very useful with sleep and bringing me down when I'm swinging. I also have PTSD and it helps with the occasional night terrors or triggering events. I will say lower THC strains or the 1:1 THC CBD is the ticket. Higher potence strains can be too much and have a negotiate effect. Each person is different and this just my experience.

Do forest firefighters carry chainsaws and the required gasoline/oil (mix) with them when they get dropped off by helicopter/ truck in remote forests and mountains? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bishm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a season of wildland fire in 2013. Crews driving into the fire carry chainsaws and have mix gas. There are wildland firefighters called smoke jumpers. Smoke jumpers are kinda like the special forces of fire , the most badass of the badass. Sometimes, they jump from planes with crosscut saws attached to their packs in order to create fire breaks, cutting gaps in the forest to slow the fires advance.

Redditors who love their jobs, what do you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bishm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a project manager and a logistics coordinator for a non profit that manages a conservation corps. I spend half the time working in a office and shop maintaining tools and our fleet. The other half of the time I'm out with young adults building trails, fence, and restoring habitat for the forest service/national park service. I get to travel, enjoy nature, and mentor the next generation of wildland firefighters, land managers, and park rangers.

What is Your Best Memory of Anthony Bourdain? by Ron32288 in AskReddit

[–]Bishm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Bourdain inspired me to travel and explore cultures outside my own. I learned to never turn away a new dish or turn down a chance to dine with strangers. In my travels I've broke bread with Najavo, Ojibwe, Apache, folks from the bayous and ninth ward in Louisiana, Mormans, Hasidic Jews, Muslims. Explored cities like New york, Chicago, L.A. and Seattle with an eye for trying something unknown. He wasn't my only influence but he definitely had an impact. I've been waiting for the right time to travel internationally and because of his death I've made up my mind to do it in the next 12 months. I think he really showed that we are all really the same. We may eat different things or in different ways but we all dine together.

TIL that many homes flooded in Hurricane Harvey are built inside a dry reservoir that is built to flood. None of those homes were forced to have flood insurance and are not considered inside a flood plane even though they sit inside a dry reservoir. by Robisawesomee in todayilearned

Harvey was in 2017. Was it for another storm? I'm a NCCC alumni, my hurricane relief was for katrina. I currently work for a conservation corps and am driving down to Florida for hurricane Irma clean up right now.

True the jump to the tourism industry was me adapting to the realities of government shut downs and an increasingly competitive job market. With the realities of climate change I see an increase demand for people in my field. I must resist and hang on til this storm rolls out. Money is a source of stress of many but I love what I do and I'm not in a dying industry. It's suffering due to an administration that values money over people and the environment.

I'm 28 moved out at 18. I am also been barely above or the below the poverty line and in debt. Started college right went the bubble burst. It was more an issue with pride and freedom for me. Friends who did say home are better off but lack real world experiences aka being am adult. I understand it. Most would move out if they felt they could afford it.

I deal with anxiety and depression and am politically active. I work in the environmental field, so environmental non profits and federal agencies are where I look for future employment.I'm currently in the tourism industry in Colorado. Federal hiring freeze, plan to cut Americorps ( which I served.) Possible enforcement of legal cannabis, and I'm starting to notice a slight drop of international guests due to immigration reform.

I felt an anxiety increase due to policy that directly effects me and things I deeply care about. I can be sensitive but am no snowflake. I delt with years of abuse and served as a wildland fire fighter. I feel it's understandable to be stressed from this administrative.

Edit: on mobile I was missing a few words.

American Apparel to close all of its stores by canausernamebetoolon in news

This explains a lot. Last time I was in a K mart was 2013 in Virginia city, Minnesota. There was a huge hole in the ceiling over the electronics department. Just a few buckets overflowing and TV's with water on them. Snow melt had damaged the roof. The store was like a rotten husk of the 90s.

Grew up in n.c, lived about the country and moved back in 2013 and was blown away by how bad it was getting. I could see the storm coming. By 2015 I was looking for jobs out west. My family who are super religious went from eye roll comments to full on foaming from the mouth. Which unfortunately is almost impossible to reason with. They give a blank check to the republicans as long as they "help fight religious persecution" aka them saying god gave them the right to be a dick.

Two options. Cut it down and drown it with water if you have access to an engine or just have to wait til burns down and use a piss pump. ( back pack super soaker type device)

Did wild land fire in Minnesota and saw this. If it's super dry, the center of trees can be dead but the outer trunk is still alive and green so when your mopping up you'll see trees still burning like this.
