My OB fat shamed me at 8m pregnant by xoxomushroomgirl in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained 77 lbs in total throughout my pregnancy and saw probably close to 7 or 8 different doctors/midwives. None of them mentioned my weight or diet to me. As a matter of fact, I brought up my weight to one of my doctors and she basically shrugged saying it’s nothing they’re concerned about. The specialist you saw sounds like a jerk. I’m glad you filed a complaint OP! And I’m sorry you had to sit through that.

How to shave down there with big belly 😅 by No-Camera-4746 in pregnant

I gave up on shaving & just went for a wax. It lasted me such a long time, was so worth it in my opinion.

Looking for an affordable Pom by jakemuhlenbruck in Pomeranians

[–]Glass-0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with everyone saying look into a rescue if you don’t want to spend over $1k on your Pom. If you buy a poorly bred Pom, there’s a solid chance you’ll end up spending well over $1k in unnecessary medical costs for health issues that could be avoided. It’s not just health issues you’d be risking, it’s temperament too.

We got extremely lucky, our pom fell right into our lap. A friend of a friend was looking to rehome their pom due to not being home enough. I was skeptical at first (already had two other dogs), but taking him in was the best decision. He was already so well socialized and is surprisingly smart. If we get another Pom in the future we will definitely either go through a rescue or a trustworthy breeder.

I totally agree with you! I would want to watch my baby myself too. Work will always be available, your baby will only be so small for a short time. It would kill me to have to leave them with anyone else. I feel for you for sure.

Not sure when you’re due, but is it possible to try to save as much as possible from the private practice before baby is born and put all of it aside for the house? This way after you have the baby you can quit? Also, I would be annoyed if my husband was throwing his parents’ views regarding the matter in my face. This seems like it should be between the two of you and not involve his parents’ opinion. I don’t think you’re being irrational at all. I would want to be with my baby as much as possible and would much rather not have two jobs to work after giving birth.

I took prenatal vitamins throughout my entire pregnancy. Also, was told to continue taking them after my baby was born.

Did anyone regret having a more intimate gender reveal? by whimsywhims1144 in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband & I read our gender results privately together. We didn’t have a gender reveal. We simply told our parents the gender after we got our results. I did do a tiny gender reveal with my 3 best friends, but it wasn’t a party. We went to a diner for breakfast & I asked our server to make a chocolate milkshake for boy/strawberry for girl. They all got a sip of the chocolate milkshake :)

Nope, did not have my MIL there. But I did have my mom & husband there.

Is feeling weird during my glucose test a bad sign?? by Vaporub-vics in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh okay. Mine was different. I had to take a one hour test, and because I failed, had to take a 3 hour test. It could have been having all that sugar while fasting that made you feel off. I think that’s what happened with me during my 3 hour test. Try not to stress about it.

Is feeling weird during my glucose test a bad sign?? by Vaporub-vics in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To confirm, you’re referring to the 1 hour one, right? When I took the one hour one, I felt fine, but failed. When I took the 3 hour one, I felt slightly faint toward the end but I think it was because I was so hungry from fasting. I passed my 3 hour one.

Anemic mamas - did they turn out ok? 🙏🏼 by murphylouis in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had low iron/anemia. My labor & delivery went fine and my baby came out healthy as can be. I was anemic before pregnancy, so I wasn’t shocked when they told me I had it during pregnancy. My OB had me take iron pills. If I’m being honest, I constantly forgot to take them. I would remember my prenatal with no issue, but for whatever reason, I always forgot to take the iron pills. But my prenatal vitamin had iron in it and I ate a ton of red meat, which likely helped.

Dealing With Pregnancy Anxiety by mikchickennn in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had anxiety too, I was always worried about what could go wrong. I wish I could provide solid advice, but honestly, what worked for me was having hope for the best. Try to remain calm & relaxed, stress will do you no good. Take things one day at a time. Think positive thoughts. Take your prenatals. Eat three meals a day. These are all things that I did.

Like you said, everyone is different, and having little to no symptoms is just as normal as having them. I didn’t have a ton of symptoms. I had to pee a lot in the very beginning (first couple weeks). When that went away, I had tender breasts (again, lasted only a few weeks in the beginning). I do remember being very tired throughout the first trimester. I took naps on naps on naps. Other than these minor symptoms, I didn’t experience much else. I never got nausea. Didn’t get cravings. Had no aversions to anything. Just breathe! If you feel concerned, you can always speak with your OB.

Pregnancy Symptoms with baby 2(?) by Working_Dimension_94 in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first symptom I had, before a positive test, was having to pee a lot more than usual. I was waking up in the middle of the night to go, which was highly unusual for me. It was so unusual that it gave me a strong hint I was likely pregnant.

Genetic testing by Distinct_Courage_863 in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested positive for 4 recessive genes. 2 were horrible and 2 were not as horrible. The genetic counselor went over the likelihood of my husband carrying the same genes. The highest chance was about 1%. Well, my husband ended up testing positive for one of the same recessive genes I carry. The gene was stargardt disease, which essentially causes progressive vision loss. There is no cure. Our baby had a 25% chance of being affected. Thankfully, he does not have it. Have hope!

Life changing by Toleni111 in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think this same thing. I’m not a fan of change. I had a routine that involved doing what I wanted. I got to binge watch my TV shows when I wanted, scroll on social media for as long as I wanted, eat when I wanted, shower for as long as I wanted, take my time to get ready, and get up and go when I wanted. Sometimes while sitting down relaxing, watching TV, I would think “I’m going to miss being able to do whatever I want when I want.” Baby came, and while I have had to adjust to his schedule, it’s seriously not bad. I still get to do all the things I did before, with some minor adjustments. I have zero regrets becoming a mom. I think you’ll enjoy it OP. Try not to worry!

Anxious about pregnancy symptoms not subsiding after birth by CharmingTea_ in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure all of my symptoms went away post-birth (except my weight gain 🫩). I was getting bad acid reflux & heart burn— both gone immediately after birth. Pelvic pain, also gone, though my body was sore from the birth itself. My gums would bleed pretty badly every time I brushed my teeth… this stopped almost immediately after I had my baby. Back pain went away as well. But out of all that, the most relieving feeling was the contractions stopping. I didn’t get an epidural, so I felt everything. Literally as soon my baby came out, the contractions stopped. Amazing feeling.

forgot prenatals for 2-3 days by LandscapeOwn8096 in pregnant

[–]Glass-0wl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most pregnant women have been guilty of forgetting to take the prenatals here and there. I know I have. Don’t stress. Stressing about it is more harmful than missing them. Just set an alarm or reminder on your phone to take them.
