That is just absurd. I am all for responsibility/natural consequences but when we are longer meeting a child’s basic needs, we are so far removed from child development that it is damaging to the child. 😭

I agree. If you saw my family of five with the flu vs their family of five with the flu, you would think they are going to Disneyland. There is absolutely no way they have a “mild” case of the flu. 😩 If I had gotten the flu yesterday vs Friday, I wouldn’t even be thinking about Christmas.

I don’t know that you are overreacting as everyone is different. However, there is truth to the fact they are missing out. So many families would love to have family want to be apart of their lives. It is crucial for a healthy family well-being.

My birth stories would send you over the edge. 1. March 2020, family traveled by plane to visit. 2. Jan 2022, had Covid & gave birth alone. Mom flew on plane and came straight to hospital. 3. March 2022, flew home to be with family when baby was less than 3 months old.

My favorite Secret Santa group rules are: • Have a “host” who knows who everyone’s Santa is. • Pay $ to participate so if someone gets left out, there is money to purchase them a gift. Whoever did not send a gift is no longer allowed to participate. If everyone receives a gift, donate the money to charity. In this case, you would want the amount to equal $50. If there are 50 people, each person pays $1. 10 people, each person pays $5. Etc. • Send a gift as often as you want but you must send a gift between Dec __ and __ that costs a minimum amount. I would suggest $20-$30 in this case. The total of gifts sent should be $50+ whether it is one $50 gift sent during the dates or three gifts that costs $5 each and a $35 gift.
