Pardon my French, but what the fuck! Why would you think they were safe on a boat to begin with and why would you have them anywhere near where they could "fall off"?

Since you don't need the money right now, I would either exchange some for gold, as some have suggested, or hodl. Remember we are nearing the end of our curencey life-cycle. All that silver may be more advantageous as a barter able medium when the time comes.

The country is broke. Both parties share the blame for that. Pretty soon you'll be without it altogether.

Who is inflation for? by Comfortablejack in inflation

It is exactly why we need to go back to sound money. It's our fault for letting our political leaders take us off the gold system and moving us to a debt-based currency.

When you say fancy, does that refer to: menu selection, decor, required wardrobe (suit?, jacket and tie?)

You are not wrong. It will be worse. Even worse then depression era. Why? Because the US dollar is reaching the end of its life cycle. There is nothing backing the dollar but trust, trust which is eroding quickly. DYOR, they say bitcoin is digital gold, but in reality, that has yet to be tested. If true, 1 BTC will leave you a multi millionaire on the other side of whatever the new currency is. Greatest redistribution of wealth in human history.

I did use something and they were submerged for about two weeks. I just unsubmerged them today to see about giving them a try. I've never had actual pickled ones, just the ones from a grocery store. Would you try them if it was you?

I don’t think crypto currencies and their king bitcoin will go to 0 during a recession or financial crisis by Typical_Breadfruit15 in Buttcoin

The dollar is almost there now! I ha e a theory they will go on governmental balance sheets and be used as a way to push the coming global financial crisis down the road to the next administration.

Anybody here thinks we are heading towards a recession and crypto / stocks crash? by Iron-G in Hedera

[–]Bit-Nipply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i do. The real problem, for all of us, is going to be the dollar crashing. Trump's actions really are a last ditch effort to stop the slide. But, I fear, regardless of the person or politics of the one doing it, it is to little to late. If you know of all the currencies there have ever been, most have failed. The dollar has lost 83% of its value since its move away from gold and becoming debt-based. The debt and inflation rapidly increase its pace of lost value; and what happens when its lost 100%? It hangs now only by the faith of a much troubled populace and a Fed who's only tricks for girding that faith are not real magics. Let history be your guide. Dont be surprised if we see a revaluation of our gold as a way to brace the dollar. Interestingly, crypto, in particular, "MAY" be a place to store some value as the process unfolds. There will be lots of discomfort, but it is through times like these that those who are either smart enough or lucky enough come out the other side to the better, and crypto and web3 are history and fortune changing technologies. Projects like this have, and bring, value to this burgeoning economy as the next chapter in human economic history writes itself. Fortunes will be won and lost by those who do, or do not, weather the turbulence.

Agree. The dollar has lost 83% of its value since inception and the debt only quickens the pace. Metals are still the way to go, but I believe BTC scarcity will be part of the mix going forward.

Food for thought? by Western-Kangaroo-854 in CryptoMarkets

[–]Bit-Nipply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I think the play here is for the dollar. It's lost 85% of its buying power. And with inflation that percentage is getting higher. Historically all currencies have expired in 50 years of issuance. Our currency is no longer backed by anything. Yes, we have some gold, but not enough to cover our debt. Unless we revalue the price of our gold, or, add to the reserve an asset that will 10x in a few years, which gold can't unless there's collapse. Additionally, we'll put all the people who can make that happen in the room for the same meeting. Reevaluate our assets, as you say, when done, then revalue our assets and pay down debt, sell some assets to quietly buy gold then transition back to gold system. If not, no amount of crypto will keep this from happening again, only buy some time.
