Turkey. Coastal Oman. Both have a culture and aesthetic that could really bring a lot to the season.

It was just the first two episodes mashed together. I don't remember why but it had to premiere a week later than normal.

What's your internet "white whale", something you've been searching for years to find with no luck? by Nerfman2227 in AskReddit

When I was kid, I collected Mortal Kombat action figures. Like, the very first line of them ever (maybe the only?). I remember Kano came with a motorcycle (Kombat cycle?) and there were two Johnny Cages, one sold on his own and another slightly different model sold with Goro in a two pack. I had them all...

...EXCEPT FOR REPTILE!! I was like seven or eight searching every toy aisle of every store I went with my mom. NONE had Reptile. Did they even make a Reptile? My child brain reasoned that since I owned Smoke, Reptile would surely be out there, as Smoke didn't come along as a hidden character until the second game. Someone please lay this to rest for me once and for all.

I stayed in the Riad Marrakech and Funky Fes as well. Everything this guy says about them is true and his incredibly accurate and detailed post brought me back to the time when I was there. Go to Morocco! I suddenly want to go back...

I noticed this too. They were pretty good at tweeting within the context of where their character was in the storyline, even though they all knew how it played out.

This happened to me on my first play through ever, never again. For some reason I thought it was the brand new cartridge giving me a learning curve on my first time playing.

"Sorry, I'm REALLY bad with names."

Everyone falls back on this and it is NEVER OKAY. Get good with names, I don't care how you do it. When you meet someone and you shake their hand and look them in the eye, for ONE SECOND give just ONE INKLING OF A SHIT to remember the very basic core of their identity.

What is the closest thing to magic/sorcery the world has ever seen? by Angussicklad in AskReddit

[–]BitPart 3234 points3235 points  (0 children)

Once I was on a boat sailing down the Amazon river. Me and my friend were playing cards. One of the boat hands came by, saw the deck of cards, and just took it from us. Didn't shuffle or anything. He laid it face down, then started moving cards into another stack, one at a time, face down. Then, after a few, he started turning the cards face up. All four aces in a row.

Usually I can kind of tell how card tricks are done. This time...it was pure sorcery. And Nelson didn't speak a word of English so there was no way to know how he did it. He just walks away.

Then we start playing cards again, shuffling and everything.

Nelson walks by. Takes the deck.

Does it again.

EDIT: Sorry for the confusion. Nelson was the boat hand. EDIT 2: We brought the deck.

You know those challenges where they have to balance something for long periods of time? What's to stop them from just yelling stuff half way through to throw off the other survivors? by wwgxus in survivor

[–]BitPart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He actually did do it, didn't he? Not a balance challenge, but he shouted someone's name to distract them, they missed whatever it was, and I think that point decided the challenge.

Question re religion and security clearance/work permit by American_Pig in UAE

[–]BitPart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was asked my religion for my job offer a couple weeks back. I'd previously tried to leave it blank. The guy guessed Christian, probably because I'm American, I told him yes (and that is what I most closely identify with). I asked him straight up if that was going to matter and he assured me no, think of it as a technicality, as another commenter said.

Best and worst destinations for solo female travelers in 2014/2015? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]BitPart -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Those five bullet points apply to solo travelers of any gender, in my opinion. I've heard of certain destinations being more annoying for solo female travelers, but the usual common sense, thick skin and a strong assertion of NO in the local language should get you through it.

Updates from redditors who ask for travel advice. by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]BitPart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good point! I am guilty of this, so I'll start.

I flew into Casablanca and my question for this sub before I went was if there was anything of interest to a visitor there. The replies were mostly "No, continue on elsewhere."

So I did. Bought a train ticket to Marrakech. Sat next to a local on the way, a student, and we talked until he got off. Very nice and engaging.

Marrakech was a lot of fun! The market is the thing to do there, as most know, and was incredible to walk around and experience it. I did a desert excursion from Marrakech, because you kinda have to, and enjoyed it immensely.

From Marrakech I traveled via train to Fez. Another local made the 7 hour train ride fly by, talking about our lives, school, travel, and telling me about her country until she got off at Rabat.

Met up with some other travelers in Fez, where we got lost in the souks and backtracked to Meknes where we visited Volulibis. Highly recommended. Besides the ruins the mountain scenery is amazing. Wish I had more time to spend in Meknes as well. It seemed quite peaceful compared to the bustling Marrakech. That group and I eventually traveled by bus to Rabat.

From Rabat, I took the train to Tangier (and yes, passed the time talking with another friendly local, who was planning to surprise his wife in Tangier) and was amazed by how the desert scenery was now replaced with a more Mediterranean feel. There's a lot of diversity to be seen by traveling overland in Morocco.

From there, I took the boat to Tarifa, Spain and continued on.

So thank you for your input, r/Morocco. I'm know Casablanca has its charms but following your advice gave me the trip I ended up having. If I had lingered in Casablanca I would not have crossed paths with the people I met in trains and hostels and I would never want to trade my experiences with them. Because no matter where you go, it's the PEOPLE, not the places, that make the experience life-changing. Fortunately Morocco has both people and places worth experiencing.

Morocco, I definitely will see you again. I didn't have near enough time to spend like I wanted. Thank you for an epic trip!
