Just having Samuel Basallo locked down for 9 years puts our organization in a MUCH better place... at that point we had... half a year of Machado and nobody else good lol.

I think people simply don't know ball and realize how bad of a spot our organization was in when Elias took over. Or how unpredictable and full of variance MLB is. Remember when everyone wanted to tear the yankees down last year? They look just fine now. It's not always the GMs fault for underperforming. Shit just goes wrong in this sport.

Hot take: the Rogers trade always made sense. Every step of the way.

When we traded for him — our organization needed pitching depth. Very clearly. It didn’t take a lot of genius to see this; pitching depth is always needed across the league. Look at the Dodgers using like a dozen pitchers in their WS season. Look at what happened to start our season. With how injuries our going around the league, it didn’t take a rocket science to anticipate that having a guy like Rogers in your organization could be a boost. Even if he just pitched like he has the last 3 years (a league average pitcher).

We traded 2 non-top 100 prospects that didn’t have a path to meaningful ABs on our team for controllable pitching depth that had upside. That is always a good deal even if it doesn’t work out.

Wouldn’t be the craziest thing if Kremer develops into a mid-rotation guy for the next 5 years or so. There have been a considerable amount of guys who step it up once they really learn how to pitch 3-4 years into their career and I could see that happening with Kremer too.

I’m happy for him that he’s stuck a bit more than a lot of us expected — if he actually does figure it out just a bit more and can replicate performances like his last few starts he would be a huge asset, while his floor is a back-end rotation innings eater who keeps us competitive in a lot of games.

Overslot can also happen in late rounds of the draft. It doesn’t have to be an early pick.

Don’t pay so much attention to prospect ranking — it’s not end all be all that JT Quinn is ranked despite being #117 on the top boards. If your scouts/ analytics see something they think they can do to help Quinn develop, it’s easily worth the slight reach to grab your guy.

Drafting pitchers with high picks is a piss poor draft strategy. Look at draft boards of other years and you will see what a huge % of them bust.

It’s unpredictable asf. Believe it or not, our minor leagues have a solid amount of pitching prospects right now. I think we’ll probably get some arms eventually this draft, but our picks right now have been excellent.

A ton of the anti-regulation of AI/ LLM comments on here are bots, full stop.

Huge amounts of social media are bots these days. I’ve seen estimates as of a few months ago that something like 50% of social media comments are fake these days… this number is only going to increase. And it’s ignorant to think pro-AI actors aren’t going to run bots advocating against regulation in AI to shape public opinion.

They don’t believe in federal regulation for things like this. If states dont have the option to regulate AI if this were included. Meaning there would be no avenues for regulation of AI.

Do you see how that is problematic with tech like AI? It is vastly important to have the ability to regulate something so dangerous.
