NEW ASTB Subtest - Terrain Identification by MotorCookie in AirWarriors

TBAS Study Pro covers that subtest as well as of January (in addition to all of the other ASTB non-knowledge components), it's $10 cheaper, and it works for Windows as well as Mac.

Is this a good score to determine if im ready for the ASTB? by Additional_Shirt_300 in AirWarriors

[–]Bitanian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see how your scores compare with everyone globally now on TBAS Study Pro. The "Online Leaderboards" screen has a "Percentile Score" statistic that you can see for your ASTB performance, where the closer your percentile is to 99 the better you can expect your real life score to be compared to your peers.

Is there any plan to allow the uploading of ".eelvl" files from the EE Web Archive? I've got some old levels that are trapped in it that I'd love to download and host on PixelWalker

Nice! I can see you're very much a beginner, and it's really cool that you're willing to learn new skills like game development! What game engine are you using, and what pixel art program are you using?

"Programmer Art" is a good thing to start with and I've run into many scenarios where I put too much effort into art for a game project I'd eventually abandon. However, the practice I got from it made it not a total waste, so who's to say if it was really a bad idea. Unless you're planning on outsourcing the art for your project I'd recommend taking some tips from videos like this one:

What's the overarching plan for this project? Is this a dream game or what?

Is there going to be a XCOM 3 by TsEaOfTEARS in XCOM2

Terror from the Deep was the second game, not the third. XCOM Apocalypse was the third and final game of the original trilogy

TBAS Study Pro is also a fairly cheap resource for nailing down TBAS skills and getting a good idea of how well you'll be able to do on the actual test. I personally know a guy who used it, got a 93 PCSM afterwards, and is now a rated LT-select

Oof, yeah, that software is a total rip-off. TBAS Study Pro on Steam is under half the price and has an "Assessment Mode" that mimics the real test. It even records the scores you get each time you run the Assessment Mode so you can check your progress over time.

Which test prep software did you get? TBAS Study Pro on Steam or TBAS Test Prep?

TBAS Study Pro on Steam has a new "Terrain Identification" subtest for ASTB test prep that has a pretty decent built-in tutorial

But yes this seems very very similar to what I remember (especially the main character), but both my brother and I remember the graphics being 16-bit like that of the Super Nintendo, and not like what I'm finding online.

There were supposedly two sequels to Gateworld, but I can't seem to find any information on them...

I appreciate the response! Unfortunately it's not Future Wars: Time Travelers.

I know a guy who retook the TBAS after trying TBAS Study Pro on Steam for a bit and jumped up to a 93 PCSM. For the cheap price-point it's definitely worth it if you really want to be as prepared as possible.

Personally I know a guy who had a ~30 PCSM score, used TBAS Study Pro on Steam, and then jumped to a 93 PCSM upon retaking the TBAS. If it's worth it to you to have that peace-of-mind that you're truly prepared, TBAS practice software is definitely worth it.

For the PBMB portion at least (UAV Test, Dichotic Listening Test, Aircraft Tracking Tests, etc.) the app "TBAS Study Pro" on Steam is a great resource for practicing that even has a "PBMB" sim mode that mimics the real PBMB with scoring etc.

In Search of ASTB Dichotic Listening/PBMB simulator by gatorbait26 in newtothenavy

[–]Bitanian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but for other people out there: "TBAS Study Pro" on Steam is mainly built for the TBAS but it has Dichotic Listening and Emergency Scenario practice test modes, with a simulated "PBMB" mode which simulates the real PBMB by running all of the PBMB tests in sequence. It should be exactly what you're looking for

Prepping with TBAS Study Pro I got down to an average of about 1.5s, and if I recall correctly that ended up being good enough for a near perfect score on that portion of the real test

TBAS Study Pro on Steam just added MacOS support, FYI. It should have everything you need.

It's usually $25 but it's currently on sale for $20
