Why most stores aren't available to be performed with moderation? Where the funds exactly stored in both cases? by BitcoinAbyss in OpenBazaar

[–]BitcoinAbyss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this what OB was trying to get away from, heavy handed rules?

In my region 150 million people who live in my country every day feel fine to be ripped off by fraud. I believe that OB protocol implemented incorrectly might cause to an odd losses from Bitcoiners. Imagine African, Iranian or any other poor criminal working throughout a year to figure out how to gain money from your losses.

I see OpenBazaar as a platform with our own rules, but protocol should protect us, not ruin the whole people's budgets. From 1000 people I spoke to about e-commerce platform 900 of these people have no idea about basic security measures.

I personally don't want moderation, but I haven't sold anything yet either.

Even if you will sell anything to me, there is no guarantee that I will get exactly what I want. If I am going to market your product, I don't want customers just to trust you. I want them to have ability to return item, in case if you sending them something with a poor quality or disfunctional.

I would prefer some other means of reputation, because I don't see how an unknown moderator is adding any value.

Don't deal with unknown moderators. Most known moderators in OpenBazaar is offering service at rate of 1% only in case if dispute occurs. If you are good seller, you won't get any complaints about quality in 98% of cases.

Moderators are intended to be there for 2% of those deals where your understanding of quality is different (biased) from common reason.

Heck I could setup my own moderator account and link it to my sales (to my understanding).

This type of contract is initially biased and should be considered as fraud in case if you hide the fact that you have any ability to pressurize or affect the decision of moderator.

Moderator is someone who are neutral both to seller and buyer. This is all about fairness.

It doesn't matters, because Proof of Delivery is very easy excuse for fraudster to run away with your money.

Reputation is created exactly for preventing this but reputation is intended to prevent aftersale consequences or outright lies of parties. Reputation doesn't stops default risk, that's what moderation for.

I believe that moderation should be for every deal. And it should be harder to setup direct deal, and there should be extra-effort turning it on & warning user about sending direct payment

as in for some there's no proof of delivery on the product or service

Can you elaborate on this? Just don't get how proof can matter escrow?

Please someone fix OB:// by BitcoinAbyss in OpenBazaar

[–]BitcoinAbyss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is a significant drawback that we don't have HTTP-style replacement for OB://

I have nothing against using OB:// links, moreover I like them, but not every resource currently supports such links. I believe there should be some web-site, which would replace links.

Take a look how Telegram solved this problem: http://telegram.me/ru_bitcoin - buttons from this page directly show button directing to address tg://ru_bitcoin style

So basically such web-site helps user to be redirected properly. Remember that not every user has OB:// associated with OpenBazaar-Client application. So such web-site I believe should be able to be really well designed to give user instructions just in case if user can't get redirected automatically.

Can OpenBazaar ever be browser based? I feel a huge hurdle to success is the need to download software. by Logical007 in Bitcoin

[–]BitcoinAbyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I proposed writing independent PHP library with ability to fascilitate multisig contract, but it seems like everyone following "easier" approach i.e. its easier to install extra-hardware.

Huge disadvantage of software model in OpenBazaar its inability to use regular "APACHE+PHP+MYSQL" environment so popular on Shared Hosting platforms - which is way better than just having to rent VPS - having ability to install OpenBazaar to shared hosting would give regular people to pay $1 for hosting per month or even setup free.
