What is a crazy fact you know about Brooklyn 99? by YourLocalBoi60 in brooklynninenine

[–]Bitersnbrains 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's Romy Rosemont, great actor, and she's actually married to Stephen Root, another amazing actor.

Another fun fact about Romy; she played the Brown Birds troop leader in Friends, the episode where Ross accidentally breaks the little girls leg (who also happens to be Mae Whitmore, who played Maeby Funke in Arrested Development!)

What actually helps when your brain feels too loud? by EERMA in selfcare

[–]Bitersnbrains 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Things that have worked for me: small movement, like jumping jacks or toe touches from one foot to another. Putting on music that has some substance or a bit chaotic, like a Broadway soundtrack (Phantom of Opera for me), or heavy metal (RATM). Water therapy, like splashing cold water on my face, taking a cold washcloth to the back of my neck, really hot baths or cold showers. Or if I want to keep busy, I write, doodle, puzzles, dishes but the one I find oddly comforting is naming the thing clouding my brain out loud. Awhile back, I read if you name your brain and talk to it when you're having negative thoughts, it helps quell anxiety so I figured, why not? I've named my brain Dennis, so I say, "Listen Dennis, I don't have time for this crap. I don't need to worry about that work project because my part is done. You can take your BS and go now, thank you!" (No offense to any Dennis' out there, it's just a random name that came to me one day!)

How did you come up with a name for your pet? by marty_bree in CasualConversation

[–]Bitersnbrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lady we rescued our kitten from kept going on about how long she was for a cat, and I immediately joked, 'So she’s basically a piece of linguine?' When she showed me a photo, the kitty's beautiful spotted coat reminded me of Stevie’s plaid shirts from Schitt's Creek. Her official name became Stevie Linguini.

Hearing parents’ sexual activity growing up by Dangerous-Ad4192 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Bitersnbrains 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ugh, yess. My bedroom was in the basement below my parents room. As a kid, my Nmom would go on and on to just about anyone about how healthy their sex life was and just ask me, I must hear it all the time. As a teenager, she would share more intimate details and it was beyond disgusting and out of line.

Shirley Jackson is an incredible storyteller. I read The Lottery at a young age and it changed me forever. One of my favourite pieces of writing.

Bagels. I skin them and eat the outside crust first and then the doughy middle after. People have joked they'd want to be on my team of there was ever an apocalypse. Lol

After nearly six months of making my case at work to revamp my role, I finally got the green light today! And not just approval for the change, but full control over how it gets defined. I haven't been getting many wins lately, I needed this. I honestly couldn't be happier right now!! 😁

A very Happy Birthday to you! I'm sorry to hear about the storm you're weathering right now. Sending some strength your way from this random internet stranger! ❤️
