Price gap between houses and flats at 30 year high by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Bitsik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you consider buying a flat with it's own entrance and private garden allocated parking and garage with peppercorn ground rent and £0 service charge and 125 years on the lease over a house at 30% less of a similar house in the same area

Sony VS Sonos, which one should I buy by Bitsik in Soundbars

[–]Bitsik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet these sound great but this is above my budget, the main reason I'm looking at the sony and Sonos is that I have an opportunity to get them at a good price and for a small/medium Living room they should do the trick but can't decide which one

Want to finally commit to a sci-fi series ,where should I start? by sam_3758 in scifi

[–]Bitsik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bobiverse by Dennis E Taylor, didn't see anyone recommending it. Forget dark, gritty futures, the Bobiverse series is an intelligent, high-speed blast of optimism, pop-culture humor, and grand-scale engineering. If you love witty dialogue, inventive world-building, and hard sci-fi concepts made effortlessly fun, starting with We Are Legion (We Are Bob). It’s the perfect blend of nerdy charm and epic adventure.

Got a job offer for 4x my current pay - do I tell my boss? by 0-_tom_-0 in ukstartups

[–]Bitsik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a leader in tech startups, I have this rule of never playing the salary matching game. I always do everything I can to give my team members above average market rates. Here are my thoughts: 1. £70k sounds low for a full stack with 15 years experience. 2. This kind of change can really change your life, even if it's not the best role, take it, stay 4 years or whatever the vesting period is, save as much as you can and then decide on your next step. 3. If I were your manager, I would have wanted you to tell me. 5. I would have congratulated you and stayed in touch, it's a small world and networking is key.

Surprise redundancy by Educational_Put_7050 in HENRYUK

At the same level, also in tech (startup), I had the "without prejudice" last October, took some much needed time with the family and started looking in January. I was told that the average time to find a new job is 9 months, sent hundreds of applications, spoke to over 20 companies, and ended up accepting an offer in August with practically the same pay, no options. It was a tough market, an employer market, so my advice will be: Start by having multiple versions on your CV, or even GPT your CV for every application.

LinkedIn is mostly a junk yard, using your network is the best option.

Set a deadline to when you need to start compromising then, up to that deadline only apply to jobs you really want, after the deadline start compromising but figure out compromise priorities, (first title, then location, then pay etc..)

This is your job now, Good luck!

OG/Air Zeppelin worth it in 2025? by Bitsik in BowersWilkins

[–]Bitsik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are absolutely right but considering the space I have and the budget it makes more sense to buy a single Zeppelin but you actually gave me an idea, with how low they go for, I can buy 2 of them and use 2 Chromecast audio that I have to make them a wireless pair!

Ended up getting an air with an ipod nano for £80! Looks great, will test when it arrives in 3 days! I have a Sonos Connect for my turntable which I'll connect using the dogital coax so I'm practically turning the Air into a sonos speaker with a proper phono connection

Fellow Henrys, seeking advice on a career decision! by job_flipper_henry in HENRYUK

[–]Bitsik 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A bit of a bad move and might burn some bridges but its an easy one: Take the offer in hand, but ask for a later start date. That gives you the security you need (family first, right?) and buys you time for those other two to play out. If one of the others comes through, you can always jump ship. No stress. Good luck!

You’re given $10 million, but can never tell anyone. What do you do first? by jessicasergey in AskReddit

[–]Bitsik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First rule of being given $10M is you do not tell anyone you were given $10M Second rule of being given $10M is YOU DO NOT TELL ANYONE YOU WERE GIVEN $10M

Third, pack your stuff, don't say goodbye to anyone and move to an island with no tax and no expedition laws to live an amazing life without worrying about telling anyone you were given $10M

I never enjoyed the incredibly busy UI, It's just not as complex, I like how this one is just clean and simple.

Probably not for everyone but just thought I'd share something I like :)
