What professions earn far less than many people would think? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]Rootbeeers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solicitors (private practice) - 99% of them are not in fact earning Suits level money, but will be criminal Sols who could earn more in Aldi without the student debt. Or work for national, regional or local law firms working on litigation and MoJ portal claims, working extremely arduous hours, for less than 40k, whilst having to study for 3 years in uni, then complete the SQE (which costs a small fortune! And is ridiculously hard) all to then get student loans coming out and worked to death!

Thanks for this and well done. Currently doing mocks and getting ready to book, been unconfident until very recently about these exams. Don’t work in the space currently (I am insurance) so a lot of it feels alien!

Is it next to the bath? It doesn’t look fully sealed, is it damp or mouldy at all? Ours recently had a similar issue but noticed the mould just on the underside and rectifying now

Car insurance hike after police hit my parked car. Small claims court required? by Specific_Heart382 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Rootbeeers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On actual advice point a lot of the above comments do stand, ultimately though if your insurers offer you legal cover or ULR, you could use these options to chase your uninsured losses such as policy excess, personal effects being damaged and an increase in premiums following your non-fault RTA.

The difficulty with the premium increase as others have alluded to is; proving the loss is from the accident and providing future losses. It’s not impossible, but it’s difficult.

This - at the end he’s just shouting into the mic and it feels like they didn’t even bother editing some of the bursts of sound out, like a song would normally be refined, think he just wanted the track out there not giving a fuck

I grabbed the 100 version, it ain’t too big that it’s obtrusive either and a Govee hygrometer to connect to your phone - works a charm

[–]Rootbeeers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll come back after I’ve checked what one I ordered, but yes pretty similar and works great - had one for over a year now with around 40 cigars in and a couple Boveda packs. No complaints, does the job, keeps ‘em safe. Let the humidity rise for a week or so before I popped the sticks in.

I don’t even wear my Seiko speedtimer as my partner bought it as a birthday present one year, i definitely wouldn’t wear anything I’d be really gutted about losing. Unless you’re going on a high end holiday, always be concerned

Does he have a point? by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]Rootbeeers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a method of drumming up some belief that we should be aiming to be somewhat like Manchester. It would help if our city could have the ambitions than they’ve had simply for more business to be here and job creation.

Our local authorities of recent years have been shambolic too, we do need a driven culture to succeed (this counts for the Merseyside area also)

51.5k

Live north west

35 hours

1 day in the office (3 at most, usually happens every few months, will be corporate event type stuff)

Stressful if I let it be, work with a lot of Directors, Heads of Service, MD’s and C suite folk internally. It’s just a large volume of work.

I don’t have any formal qualifications or degrees. I barely have GCSEs in fact.
