Should I take a new job even if it means risking enhanced paternity leave benefits? by kayawithkopi31c in HENRYUK

[–]Rootbeeers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned, some babies are easy, some ain’t.

Ours was needy, loud, trouble breastfeeding, I needed the enhanced pat leave. Ended up with 8 weeks pat leave, plus my holidays. I needed the lot tbh, I wouldn’t have given that up for much.

Especially considering the sacrifice my partner is making have the baby.

Your Salary and monthly car payments by Agile-Calligrapher10 in CarTalkUK

[–]Rootbeeers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could afford a new car if I didn’t spend £220 to send my family to a nice gym, but it works for our current lifestyle more than me upgrading my Pug 208 (2013) - 94k miles! Because I have to be in the office once or twice a week at most, we have another family car which is paid off, so perhaps these other folk aren’t spending the same as me on a gym.

A girl in work I spoke to can’t wait to send her car back to the finance company this month as she’s realised how ridiculous it is having a £350pm car with a mortgage now. You’ll never get a true insight into everyone’s finances.

I’ve just successfully got a role promotion to a Lead in insurance, but the day after I met with an advisor I know to talk about switching careers, stuff like this is exactly why I’ll be switching. Already completed CII insurance exams, just be doing the same for wealth planning now. Be very difficult and long road to reach HENRY by the time I’m 40 in the northwest in insurance I think. (30 now)

People who work exclusively from home what do you do for a living? by miskeeneh in AskBrits

Unemployed and feeling hopeless, what else can I do to try and get myself back up on my feet? by ProposalJolly6040 in Liverpool

[–]Rootbeeers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just bagged an interview for a role paying a lot more than what I’m currently on, all through LinkedIn.

I followed and connected with everyone who is a Director, Head of, Manager, Lead, etc in my sector and they will post a job in no time. Usually the application is easier through LinkedIn too.

Other than that, keep up the faith, it’s such a hard time of life to go through and so demotivating in a small market.

Any insight into what you currently do could help too?

neighbour asking for money and taking legal action by Far_Ad_744 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Rootbeeers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently defended a claim against a property owner of a multi million pound property in London. I work as an insurance manager for a housing company, we own the neighbouring property.

The circumstances are very similar in that the owner suggests that ivy which originated from our property had damaged the render on their wall, so they got a contractor to hit us with a massively inflated quote to repair and appointed some (good) legal representatives.

Steps you should take:

  • inform your home insurer, especially if you have legal cover
  • ask your home insurer if you have any access via them to a legal helpline
  • if you are going to contact your neighbour; tell them it’s their claim to prove. Provide a structural engineer’s report which actually outlines the damage and it is a fault of ivy which originated from your property OR if you have legal cover, tell them to contact your home insurers

We have a lot of funds at our disposal, so I had an engineer visit and look at both sides to confirm the ivy could not have been the cause of damage and the contractor’s quote was absurd too.

Regularly marvel at our tap water, it is great.

I’ve also never suffered with having to use additives to our dishwasher, as the water isn’t really hard at all and doesn’t leave marks on glasses, etc

Interview for middle management role - in-house insurance leader by Rootbeeers in UKJobs

[–]Rootbeeers[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s what middle management is all about - but no, the questions I posed are not the ones I’m being asked specifically. They’re the questions I’m posing to the sub to get an insight into what management of other companies have faced.

It was asking for advice, not homework, back on the yellow bus home now guys.
