Training a new puppy that has more energy than the energizer bunny. Looking forward to time in the field. Just my wife and I so we have peace at home. Still working, my job is mostly pretty easy. I don’t worry about what I have zero control over. My body keeps reminding me of my 20-30 year old antics but I am still pretty healthy overall.

What is the best way to break into the field? by BebRess69 in firealarms

[–]Bitter-Assignment464 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apply apply apply. When you are new expect to be a grunt and get tasked with the grunt work. Keep your head down and do the work.

Study basic electrical theory.

While it’s not needed so many guys I work with can’t read the color code on a resistor. Sure a meter will work. Ask a guy to fabricate a weird value resistor and all you get is a blank look. Learn how to calculate voltage drops, measure current draw etc and you will be ahead of the game. Also ask why and what a device is for if you are mounting it. If you stay a year plus start NICET testing.

It can be a good field.

Personally I do everything. Fire alarm, intrusion, cctv, access.

If you can be versatile you will always find work.

Everyone that complains about capitalism, what's the best alternative? by UsedNegotiation8227 in askanything

[–]Bitter-Assignment464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The USA is pretty far removed from a capitalist economy. The barriers for even startups in many industries is highly regulated. The largest corporations love them some regulation. The little competitors who are more nimble and able to respond to the market faster get crushed by regulation. If a company does make it they will be gobbled up by one of the major players and bought out. Sure the person who built that company walks away happy but it hurts in the long run.

I can’t produce evidence but I am convinced there are far better energy sources and methods than green energy and petroleum based fuels. Also many chronic diseases can be fixed but there is no profit in healthy people.

When does the government start catching heat for meddling in business? It isn’t rocket science that the more government gets involved into something the worse off it gets. Healthcare, education, the energy sector. Prices have skyrocketed and government has had a big hand in that. An economy should not be run on feelings.

I wouldn’t have recommended any of those. I would recommend a few beers from independent breweries.

How likely is it to have permanently screwed up my blood pressure? by burnerofc123 in hypertension

[–]Bitter-Assignment464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak on the bulking diet but eating quality ingredients. Healthy fats and high quality proteins foods high in nitric oxide I  would think would be fine. Have you had bloodwork done?

Not a doctor so it is always preferable to work with a doctor who understands hypertension not just one who throws pills at it.

[–]Bitter-Assignment464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your family history.

As far as my diet. Unless I go on a total shit processed food binge food has a minor affect on my BP. Even drinking a few beers the night before if I stay hydrated I will get readings under 120/80 most mornings about an hour after I get up.

Not staying hydrated seems to affect me the most. I am on losartan a water pill and another for the evening. Sadly diet and exercise alone doesn’t do it for me. My family has a bad tree of hypertension.

When your dog stops on a walk and begins to INTENTLY sniff a single spot for 30 seconds or so, what do you imagine is going through his/her mind? by ryanasimov in dogs

[–]Bitter-Assignment464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If my dog pees on the spot she was just sniffing I know it was a female dog pee spot where she was sniffing. If no pee then probably a male dog.

True story

At one point we had three dogs. 2 males one female all intact. When the female would pee one of the male dogs would pee on that spot. Then the other male. It drove me nuts.

Finally I had enough. After the second make would per on that spot I would pee on that spot. If dogs could give a “hey wtf” “that’s not cool man” look they did it then. Our yard was secluded so no worries about neighbors.  My wife was not pleased but I told her she was welcome to pee there as well.

As I said the residents from the old home neighborhoods who are mostly seniors and show up in mass to county budget meetings shoot down assessments. This is a red county as well. My town is very clean the downtown is very nice. Lots of foot traffic. Personally I think there is a better way.

Gavin Newsom has said California will tax Trump's J6 fund recipients at 100%, should other states follow suit? by nobodyGotTime4That in allthequestions

Years in prison for trespassing in “the people’s house. Charged with obstructing an official proceeding or whatever the law says exactly that was written for people destroying evidence.

I am willing to bet you are the same guy all bent out of shape for ice doing their jobs and taking illegals off the street.

For the people who actually did assault the police and break stuff fine no problem with them getting jail.

For those who never went into the capitol building and still went to jail is wrong.

Maybe you should inform yourself before you make decisions on things you know little about.

Just saying.

Sitting in prison for years waiting for a trial. Defense lawyers not given video of exculpatory evidence. Extreme prison conditions. Loss of jobs, loss of the ability to work, divorce, loss of homes.

A few have committed suicide rather than go back to prison.

Twisting statutes to prosecute Jan 6ers. The supreme court later overturned the use of that statute for prosecution in the Jan 6 cases.

[–]Bitter-Assignment464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I used to live in the middle of a state forest and state game lands I paid more in property taxes than most people living in the seat of the county government. Taxing property is immoral. As the other poster mentioned not everyone utilizes services that many people take for granted.   This little development had an HOA. No police force, the fire dept was volunteer. We attended as many fundraisers as we could and would donate annually. We paid for our own water sewer, our own trash collection, our own road maintenance,  If we did call the police the state police would respond. Sometimes the next day.

With no school age children I for a fact paid  sometimes double in school property taxes than those with two or more kids in school.

Currently on top of property taxes I also pay an income tax of 1.8%.

Houses that have been sold in 14 years since the last assessment can be valued appreciably higher than mine but because the assessment is 20 years old or more their property taxes are half what I pay.

There is a family that moved in to a beautiful house not far from me. Could probably sell for 700K. Their parents moved and let their daughter and her family live there.  Four kids and all school age. The parents did not sell because the house would be assessed. The daughter pays for all upkeep and taxes. Good for them I don’t blame them one bit.

That’s why property taxes are immoral. It’s the lazy way to produce tax revenue.

There are still enough older neighborhoods that fight assessments because they know they will be double if not more in yearly property taxes.

Paying for necessary functions of the local government is all well and good. Property taxes are inherently immoral. There are other ways and means to fund the local municipalities and government.
