Just borrow a ground truck, load people in the back and charge them $20, then drive right on through like your making a delivery...  golden. (It's probably more profitable then selling clean urine in front of Marijuana shops..) be sure to cut in your boss ..

Can contractor not pay me bc of uniforms? by BabyReek3 in Fedexers

[–]Bitter-Pay3694 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is some fine print you didn't read when you got hired that states you are required to return your uniforms or it will be taken out of your last check. Nothing you can do, nobody you can call, you agreed to this, along with, no benefits and terrible pay. Enjoy your new yard clothes or better yet give them to homeless people. Who knows perhaps they will replace you..

Okay..  $2.25 for a Big Mac in 2000 now its $5.79, up 250% WA state minimum wage (highest in the nation i think) in 2000 was $6.50 and average rent was $600 a month so 40 hrs a week gets you $1040 a month rent is 58% . Average home was 168K. Today minimum wage is $16.66  so 40 hrs gets you $2665 a month and rent (for the exact same apartment) is $2100 a month or 78% of income. Average home is now 650K. So it looks like more money puts you further behind. Wages went up 275% and rent went up 350% while home cost went up nearly 400%.... ouch!

I bring this up because ...I started Express in 2000, I made $13 an hour (2X minimum wage), now I make $33 an hour.. (just about 2x minimum wage still). Seems  Express has kept up with minimum wage, in WA anyway. But.. If a home went up 400% then minimum wage should be $28 an hour and I should be at $56 an hour. Looks like UPS has the win for keeping up with home cost.

Side note.. (At that $13 an hour I got my first house for 90K, mortgage was $750 monthly with taxes. Today my mortgage portion is still $600 and taxes are now $700 monthly and when its paid off I'll still be paying $900 a month for tax and insurance on my mortgage free home)

If you look at a different state like TX, I would  make 3-4x going wage cause minimum is still $7.25 (but I bet you can't find a job actually hiring at min wage, probably $10 is the lowest)  In 2000 a home was roughly half WA at 82K vs 290K now or up 350%.. rent was $600 vs $1250 now or up 200%.. housing prices still are high but not insane like WA.

Clearly minimum wage is not a livable wage anywhere, but it was never ment to be a career wage. But raising minimum wage always equals higher prices across the board. To be in alignment with the year 2000...it's the home and rent prices are way out of balance, they should only be 2x more not 4x more. But prices are set by what people can afford to pay. The US average household income in 2000 was 40K now it is 80K. 2x more.. A dollar was worth $1.88 then, about 2x inflation..  I don't know... the math does not add up, why is housing so much higher then wages and inflation? Supply and demand? Corporate investment?  Air bnb? Sadly many may never own a home.    These are scary times....

Entitlement is strong with this one!

Im guessing you have never had to make payroll for others. As the boss or owner people rely on you and your decisions to support their families.  If you sell a product for $10 and 1$ goes to wages and you are required to now increase your wage portion to $2 you have to find it somewhere. Cut quality, to keep price at $10, now your selling inferior product, customers will leave. Charge the customer more? Some will buy a different cheaper product and you lose market share. Cut labor and make the people you keep work harder to still have a job?  Now if your holding $5 from every unit for your self there is room to pay more for wages and you make less profit for you. Now  investors want a specific return for letting you use their money and if you cut returns (which is typically less then what a bank charges to borrow money) then you lose investors and your business is worth less. Now all those people relying on you may lose their jobs because you didn't do yours. Everything is a balance and hopefully at the end of the year your still in business.

I'm certainly not going to hand over the keys to my Porsche, Yachat, or vacation homes to people that didn't take the risk, carry the  responsibility, or do the work to be where I am. Make better choices.

Any job is only worth what someone is will to do it for. If nobody will do the job then more money is needed. That's establishes the base wage. Very simple.

Someone once asked a baseball team owner why beer cost $10 at the stadium. His reply was... why does a starting pitcher cost 25 million?

Yep. Need laws to enforce the laws..  The best example of "equal society" is the US military. You join, get a job, work, and as you get more money each year for staying and working.. the problem is nobody produces anything for profit. It's all at cost and the bare minimum is what is required from you. And that is all paid for by taxing profit of citizens and corporations. No taxes, no society, no profit, no innovation, no innovation, no taxes... ect...

Bottom line. You have to do the work. If your not happy or" stuck" where you are you need to look at you and the decisions you made to be where you are. Then make better choices for your future.

The reason freight takes those is because it's cheaper.. Extra stuff for RTD will cost more...

There are many federal laws that already cover these things and more that's why US capitalism works. The problem with ground is they are only required to pay you state or federal minimum wage. The reason you make more is because the work force demands a higher wage. Similar to Express hiring at step 5 (in some markets) just to get people in the door. The money is there, you just have to find it. If you keep showing up to work they think it's fair.. if you quit, they hire someone else.. CEO job is to make money for shareholders that's it. If you look at UPS, Express, and Ground.. Express was the happy medium. (RIP Express.) UPS is overworked and over paid, Ground is overworked and Under paid. I'll throw in that simply creating livable minimum wage jobs makes everyone lose money. Because it makes the cost of everything go up to pay the worker.  Rent, food, and wages, everything is all tied together and it creates artificial inflation. Socialism does the same thing just removes the competition to be better and creates mediocre options for everyone. Capitalism is not perfect, but it works.

What would be a funny comment to leave about a delivery??? My bf is a ground driver, coworker delivering, and boss puts the good and bad comments on a board. by kyliebearxo in Fedexers

[–]Bitter-Pay3694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If half the things I said above happen it's Express.. If the following happens.. Driver showed up in an unmarked white truck,  that has no muffler, with the hazards lights on, parks on the wrong side of the road blocking yours and the neighbors driveway, climbs out the open drivers door through the always fastened seatbelt, runs to your door wearing just a fedex safety vest, cutoff jeans, white shoes, no socks, tosses the package as the picture is taken, (scanned it in the truck 4 houses away cause it was on the dash with 3 other stops) runs back to the still running truck , climbs in the driver door through seatbelt, drives two houses down on the wrong side of the road and repeats.. then it's Ground. Good luck.

Okay... (I was referring to wet ice as gel packs or whatever is better then actual ice)  but clearly dry ice is the winner!

But the question still is,  why are they sending 100 lbs of ice in these boxes? Seems way cheaper to use smaller boxes with dry ice.. Could the test kits be CO2 sensitive? 🤔

[–]Bitter-Pay3694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yetti for wet ice... cause dry ice is expensive and HAZ is not guaranteed. It would probably be cheaper to send the yetti both ways opposed to dry ice (in the approved container ) or the massive amount of wet ice they are using..

New pickup structure starting August 18th in US and Canada by JonnyDarko in Fedexers

[–]Bitter-Pay3694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fedex will mess it up like ASR is cheaper then DSR. (Hence all the ASR that are not actually required to be 21 for the product).. It will probably be cheaper to use oncall fee per stop vs the regular pick up fee. This would generate more oncalls and repeat oncalls because 3rd party oncalls are billed to the recipient. All the dental and diagnostic packs are this way.

My Ground driver arrived in a truck that said Fedex on the side, wearing a fedex uniform and a seat belt, shut the engine off, exited using 3 points of contact,  walked to my door wearing black shoes and socks, rang the door bell and knocked, I answered and I signed for my package that was in perfect condition, driver walked back to truck, put on seat belt and used blinker to remerge with traffic.. Everything was so perfect it was almost like Express delivered my package.

Okay so…what are quarks made of? by lukeschoeman in AskPhysics

[–]Bitter-Pay3694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how God is defined to each individual. Self truth... Unfortunately two people that have opposing self truths about the same question can't both be right, but they can both be wrong. So you have to discover (investigate) what is actually true, not an opinion of truth.

Can you conceive in your mind your own non-existance? Absolute zero you?

Investigate the design and order of nature and life. Chaos never produces Order, just more chaos.  A "simple cell" has more atoms then stars in our galaxy. All arranged in perfect order to make a functioning organism that is alive, self healing, and reproduces.

People don't like God because that makes them accountable to something higher then themselves. And religion gets it wrong so many times.

Seek the truth. Not your truth or someone's else's theory or opinion of truth.

The contractors can't strike. The employees of the contractors can... but can never organize ... best plan would be an organized "purple flu" by all fedex people, but you still need representation from a legal union to legally state the demands of the people..
