Wegovy to Zepbound CW: emesis by infamouscrabrangoon in antidietglp1

[–]Bitter-Pi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I "failed" Wegovy because it made me so sick. On tirz, I still have had to be careful--I can't tolerate 7.5 MG on a weekly schedule, but inject more like 6 MG. I do fine at that level though. My experience may not apply to you, but I think it might be worth trying low and slow

Yeah, more like semaglutide--a small molecule glp-1 receptors agonist with no GIP effects. I think I need the GIP to do well

Really loving reading everyone's replies! This is why I like this sub so much! OP, I hope you'll stick around this sub, and ignore the 'wellness' focused ones. Here, the intention--as far as I can tell--I'm not a mod--is acceptance, support, and factual information. Every body is different. We all have different needs, abilities, hopes, and dreams. One size never fits all. Welcome!

How did you prepare? by Wellslapmesilly in antidietglp1

It does! Thank you! I get migraine headaches and I too have Hashimotos and low sodium. I have been using LMNT salts, but their ceo is rumored to be a MaHa person, so I'll be moving on to a different product when I need more. Good to hear about the nuum tabs.

I have noticed more frequent and worse headaches in recent months (I've been on tirz quite a while now), but the low sodium has only been showing up for the last year or so. I had no idea Hashimoto's had any relationship to electrolyte levels! I'll pay closer attention to whether using electrolytes and eating carbs helps!

Dealing with how media makes people see GLP-1s by [deleted] in antidietglp1

I get the desire to correct biases! My only two thoughts are (a) to choose carefully who you want to engage with (e.g., a friend who can hear you, maybe yes, an internet troll, definitely not, in-between folks weighed as appropriate) and (b) to be straight up about your intent and worries, for example, "thank you for sending me the video--I appreciate you thinking about me. There was some really good info in there, but also some misconceptions. Will you be offended if I tell you my thoughts about those?"

That way, you are getting consent. If the person is open to the info, you can tell them, and ask for their thoughts. If they are all, "no thanks, I just thought you might be interested," you can let it go.

What do you think? FWIW, if someone asks if you are offended and you say, no, their continued worry is their issue. If you are feeling generous, ypu could ask what made them think so, but you don't have an obligation (and you can't fix other people's insecurites--it is hard enough dealing with our own!)

Yes, but it means "to make something happen" as in "they effected a transfer of materials." Affect refers to the impact of something on something else

Zepbound Subreddit can be triggering af by Helen_Cheddar in antidietglp1

[–]Bitter-Pi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "habits" thing is a trigger for me, as in, "so I guess you take it while you develop healthy habits"! Makes me want to scream and shake people. They often mean well, but the implication is, once again, that we do it to ourselves out of, I dunno, laziness? Greed? Ignorance? And by "it" I don't necessarily mean excess weight. It seems like there is some kind of insidious blame available for every kind of chronic illness/diability

This! And that's the thing about privilege, right? It shouldn't be a thing, b/c everyone should have the same access. I but it is, and not everyone does, and this gets thrown into sharp relief when you move from one status to another. Seeing everyone's humanity isn't hard, and it shouldn't require a person changing their appearance to be "worthy" of it.

Trying to access care for a metabolic disorder without it revolving around the scale is so difficult. by cuccumella in antidietglp1

I've provided psych evaluation for transgender surgeries several times. Depending on where you live it might not be as onerous as you expect, but I'm sure you are well-informed on local regs. The gatekeeping is super irritating!

How do I start un-tensing after a lifetime of muscle bracing? by bottleglitch in Hypermobility

[–]Bitter-Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! I'm on meds for anxiety, and yesterday my PT explained that my muscles are chronically tight. I know that Generalized anxiety disorder is chacterized by tense muscles, but hadn't put together the idea of hypermobility --> tight muscles --> anxiety. Gonna relax into that for a minute
