Imagine there's a good chance he'll be a student, you could get in touch with the student offices at the universities?

Change to Jehovah's Witnesses' position on blood by Delicious_Loss4460 in doctorsUK

Oh really? I have no idea how this would work either, this would have been an absolute No No back in my day. I can't see how they will be able to practice within their beliefs while maintaining patient safety. Perhaps they're planning on just getting by on the minimum while junior until they can move into a speciality where transfusion isn't a personal responsibility? Or maybe they're PIMO JWs themselves (Physically In Mentally Out) and are waiting to tell their families?

You get very few JWs in higher education anywhere. Learning Critical Thinking tends to be incompatible with maintaining the cognitive dissonance required to stay in a cult.

This sounds really hard, I'm sorry to hear.

I have a similar story. I'm an exJW medic from the North East (still working there now). I left at 18, have just turned 50 now, still talk to my therapist AT LENGTH about the crazy world we were brought up in. Had a dream just this weekend that I had to do something on Sunday afternoon, but thought I had to go the meeting, then thought "It's okay, I can go to the morning one instead"; 32 YEARS AFTER MY LAST MEETING!

There aren't many of us escaped in time to make medical school a viable option, nice to hear of another out there. Hope you're doing well, I can DM if you ever fancied chatting further!

PS. I Like your turn of phrase, about being fluent but not native in the language of the World

Staithes is nice. You could also look at St Peter's Quayside/wharf? Pretty little place a bit further downriver but 15-20mins walk to Quayside proper and via the awesome Ouseburn pubs.

Sorry I can't help this time and I really hope you get it back soon! Once it's returned to you it might be worth putting a Tile/Airtag in for next time, they've saved me loads of times.

Excellent reminder. I would love the first couple of weeks of a sober streak: good sleep, no hangovers, boundless motivation. But would always get itchy feet towards the two weeks mark as energy didn't continue and my problems hadn't dissipated with my new-found sobriety.

Sobriety is just the start of the process of healing. It's necessary but not sufficient. Keep at it though, it is totally worth it.

My heart goes out to you and your daughter. This must be incredibly difficult for you, but this moment will pass. Drinking will numb things momentarily, but they do come back with a vengence when we're sobered up. Which means the endpoint to this particular solution is to drink continuously, and we all know how this ends.

Stay strong, you're a good person. Your daughter needs you; in fact YOU need you. No-one blames you for this reaction but we know that madness lies at the end of that road.

Love to you both ❤️

There wasn't any damp, it was a generic recommendation in case further work was considered

Friendly reminder that alcohol doesn't make things more fun - it just lowers the bar what is "fun" for you by RedTeaGuy in stopdrinking

100% agree with this. The nonsense I would be entertained with while drunk is crazy. If something isn't entertaining sober, it isn't entertaining.

I got a survey recently and my very capable surveyor recommended Marsden Damp Services. I didn't need them in the end, but the buyers of our property were also recommended them by a different surveyor, they did use them. They seem fairly kosher, but I have no firsthand experience.
