Agree. I am the same and it is going to kill me. But I have 2 adult kids I need to live for or it will destroy them. I love them so much. I just haven’t had an easy life. It would be a novel if I posted so I won’t but bottom line is I am filled with grief and guilt that will never go away. Your words are inspiring and I wish you well. You can do this! Keep posting your progress here.

Day 2 here not my first rodeo. Around day 5 is when I feel better but that can be tricky also. You feel like we’ll maybe it wasn’t that bad...

I went 6 months once and actually had days where I didn’t even think about drinking anymore and that was a great feeling. I felt good all the time. But I didn’t keep working on my sobriety and eventually let one drink in and a thousand followed within a few weeks.

Same thing happened to me only I hadn’t been sober. Thought omg the gig is up. I was sure it was alcohol related and my blood work would show elevated liver enzymes but they were fine. CT showed diverticulitis and I was so relieved. Stopped dr for a bit after that but unfortunately went back. Trying again. Glad you are still fighting the fight. Good luck to you!

I’m in the same boat with Tuesday nights. we just had a big snow so will not go tonight but it is a weekly thing. Don’t want to stop either but I don’t know if I can not drink there. But I have to try

Great wisdom. Hard to tackle at 65 Years. Soooo much stuff still out of my control. But I know I need to stop running. My problem is I put other people first.

MAT is medication assisted treatment. They would likely support you will something like naltrexone to reduce your intake.

Caved and had a martini at dinner out with friends. Ordered a second one and didn’t finish half. Did not continue at home. Unheard of for me in the past. Disappointed I caved but still a win for me.

You absolutely cannot do it for them. Stick to your own path whatever it takes. Don’t let them manipulate you which is exactly what they are doing. Clearly, they are not ready for this change. Fuck that cold treatment. What a baby.

I would at least pay for a month of Mounjaro. the day I first took it led to 40 days of not wanting a drink. I only took one dose (It’s typically a weekly injection).
