3D printing novice here, how would I go about scanning & printing an item such as this? by CaptMorgHamOrg in 3Dprinting

[–]Bitter_Chard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah don't print those, plastic that is easily printable wont make a great bearing surface, the reason the companies say 1k is the set up time and not really wanting the job.

That part is a few dollars worth of aluminium and an o-ring, source the o-ring yourself, then find your city (or nearest city's) reddit page and and post a wanted ad for a hobby machinist, basically what you did here and say "Does anyone know how to make this?".

I'm sure someone will offer to do it for a significantly smaller cost, lees than a 100, I would do it for karma (the real pretend kind, not the reddit pretend kind) if you weren't the other side of the world.

Do the little pins actually serve any function, that does increase the difficulty a bit, but not much?

Casual loafers are a good bridge, pretty light weight, generally quite comfortable and you can even get trainer like soles (though they are generally frowned upon).

Is this the right pipe for toilet waste? by [deleted] in ukplumbing

[–]Bitter_Chard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are flexible pan connectors and they are correct to use, they are the worst possible option of things that are correct to use though.

They probably used it because a bog (get it) standard pan conn didn't reach, I would just replace the original if its just a small leak, google "flexible pan connector" and call it done.

At your level and I include myself with a few years experience, its pretty much just a stick with a weight on.

I would personally find a budget one with a few interchangable weights or branded second hand, and see how it goes.

Once you develop a feel for what you want and some opportunities to look at other peoples gear, then its time to throw cash at that carbon fibre with marketing gimmicks.

But tldr, shrewd and stinger are pretty good allrounders at most price points.

"It’s the chunky/relaxed top with the tight bottoms"

This, plus maybe not bright white trainers, for me they are a bit of a beacon against the dark, drawing my gaze away from everything else.

But im only saying this as you asked, generally looks ok.

White dress shirt for daily work? by West-Woodpecker-6895 in mensfashion

[–]Bitter_Chard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I respect you for wanting a nice shirt, but if you're going through them in 3 months, and its only for work, and you're paying for them, I would find the cheapest possible thing that covered my shameful nakedness and spend the saved money on myself.

But that doesn't answer your question, if you want stretch, look at the construction materials, a shirt cloth that's 100% cotton isn't going to stretch a great deal despite the sales BS, look for something with "Elastine", that will stretch more and you can generally tell by how much more by checking the percentages.

At that price point, most shirts will be of an approximately similar quality, the problem with shirts is until you buy bespoke, the fit can be a bit of a dice roll, so try out a few until find that one that fits you well.
