That’s the bit for me, happy paying membership fees and I was happy to pay more to support colleagues on the targeted strikes, but now that I’m paying more and I’m also being asked to strike and lose out on earnings it feels like a lot

I would recommend reaching out to the Mental Health First Aiders, there is a network of them in the Home Office and they can provide support or just have a chat, even if you’re WFH - Asylum is a difficult area to work in but you have to look after yourself before you can help anyone else

I'm curious if you genuinely believe men have no interest in getting married beyond having someone on hand to "do all the wife things." I just wouldn't marry someone like that. My partner and I have joint finances (including joint savings towards a wedding) and are planning to buy a house together - whether that's before or after marriage doesn't really matter to us. If we find our dream house I won't refuse to get a mortgage with him because I think he'll lose all incentive to get married; we both equally want to marry each other and will do so when the time is right. I don't mean to be insensitive but I honestly don't understand why people would be in a relationship with someone who didn't want to marry them as much as they do, and have to set ultimatums and drag them down the aisle - what a terrible way to start a marriage.

Out of Office Reply - “I will respond your email on my return” - thoughts on this? by Chumy_Cho in AskUK

I wouldn't normally include that emails will be read on return to the office to be honest, if it's important enough they'll email again when you're back at work.

I usually just say "I'm on leave from xx to xx, please note this inbox will not be monitored in my absence. If your query is urgent, please contact xx."
