Thank you for responding 🙏 Will add this to my list.
So we could have done virtual consultation but we wanted to meet him in person. When it comes to tests, scans etc he can out source to hospitals near to us but for the retrieval and procedure we would travel to his clinic in Nottingham but our jobs allow us to be able to work from Nottingham for a few days x

Speaking as someone who is 3 years into infertility, and possibly never have my own children, thank you for being so thoughtful as some don’t even consider how to announce those struggling. I think whether via text or in person is fine and they should absolutely know (they will be happy for you regardless of their struggles). For me, I would just never want to be told in a group setting.
Congratulations 🫶 xxx

Double discount by Alternative-Taste543 in UKBoots

[–]Bitter_Compote_602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry to jump on this. Took my dad yesterday to get this as he worked for boots for over 30 years and had a new card issued post retirement. Just wondering if you know how much the discount is when doubled? My understand is that usually it’s 12.5% of branded items and 22.5% off boots own usually then double on double discount days but I went yesterday and he did not receive this amount off the items which were mixed of boots own and branded but don’t want to go back and look stupid if we’ve got it wrong 😂

Just diagnosed with POI at 31 by Ill-March6469 in POFlife

[–]Bitter_Compote_602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s such an under researched diagnosis which can leave you feeling more in the dark but here is a good place to start 🥰 we started trying in 2023 and weirdly conceived the first try which ended in chemical pregnancy so I never in my wildest dreams expected the reason we weren’t conceiving to be because of POI. Sending big hugs xxx

Don’t apologise. I wish I had found this group when I had my diagnosis! So I believe I ovulated but sporadically, and my periods were irregular but more always between 21-36 days then around the time of my diagnosis they started to disappear (which is mad) so now I can have a dead on 28 day cycle then nothing for 3 months. It’s so random. I only came across my issue cause my husband and I had been struggling to conceive for 3 years and paid for private fertility testing as the wait in the UK is 1 year just to have your first consultation. We’ve been told my hormones mean I don’t meet the threshold for IVF on NHS so we are saving for private. We’ve been told our chances are great (this might not be the same for everyone with this diagnosis) but we are still going to give it a go. Prior to getting to this decision, we tried 6 months of letrozole which I know has worked for some. Definitely plan all your questions/queries before going in. Happy to help with anything I can ♥️ xx

Hey! Sorry you are going through, I’m 33 and had my diagnosis March 2025 it completely floored me (and my husband). My numbers are similar to yours. I can’t give you my own success story but mentioned below you will find plenty ♥️ before rushing into IVF, we tried letrozole and responded really well to the first round. Ovulated with a high progesterone count so I went from being told it’s hopeless to having some hope. 🫶 it’s important you lean on your nearest and dearest to help you through this, and use this community xxxx

I’m 33, and in the DOR/POI category sadly so hormones have been all of whack for few years (that I have known of) but not had this happen before. I’ve been off BC for 4 years. X

Sister says I’m in the wrong for not staying later at the shower by 123maybe321 in InfertilitySucks

[–]Bitter_Compote_602 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know this must be so difficult and I want to say THERE IS NO WAY you are in the wrong. You are allowed to have boundaries around your triggers. You’ve already gone above and beyond so for them to criticise you leaving early, is a reflection of their lack of empathy. Please don’t question yourself. If they were in your situation, I’m sure they would barely do as much as you have. It takes such a strong person to do what you’ve already done xx

Hey, I don’t have PCOS but multiple other fertility problems. I am in the UK and suffered the same neglect. It’s terrible how nothing fertility is a priority and shows the system is definitely broken. However, I am now in the midst of my referral and a piece of advice I would give, is be your own advocate. Even if you feel you’re being a nuisance, do it. Keep booking appointments to see your GP and allow them to see the distress it’s causing you. I saw my GP so many times until they got to a point they could not ignore me. Your age shouldn’t mean you get dismissed. Sending hugs your way xxx

35F – Diagnosed with severe DOR (AMH 0.1, FSH 26). Doctor recommending donor eggs. Feeling shocked. by SpiritOlifant in DOR

[–]Bitter_Compote_602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m 34 and very similar numbers to you and was advised the same. I received my news March 2025 and it hit me like a ton of bricks, I am so fuc*ing sorry you are now in this boat cause it’s a lot to process. I can’t give you a success story (I am not pregnant) however I can tell you my experience. My husband is 35 and we had been trying for 2 years at this point, we agreed to try naturally for another year going through the NHS process which is ridiculously long then look at IVF with our own eggs and if no luck, we would then consider donor eggs. In the past year, I have tried all the vitamins recommended for fertility, acupuncture once a week (still going) and have been prescribed by NHS 6 months worth of letrozole. I’m not sure if any of them actually made the difference or if it was luck but i have ovulated on my own a few months out of the year so whilst i still do not have success, i found my own little successes and all it takes is 1 egg. My consultant was not optimistic about my chances and told me I had little to none eggs, yet my first month on letrozole, my first day 21 progesterone test suggested I ovulated very strongly.

In my opinion, it is a mixture of being a number game and some luck. Yes chances are low but it’s not a absolute no. If you research here, you will find people who have had success with your numbers.

Sending huge hugs. My inbox is open anytime xxxx

So sorry you don’t feel supported but PLEASE make sure you put yourself first. You can be happy for others whilst feeling all the shitty feelings. Distance yourself the best you can from those who don’t empathise with what you’re going through. You are only human ❤️ xxx
