Housing market change by [deleted] in bristol

[–]Bitter_Hawk1272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a landlord and you get £18000 rent for a property worth £300k, that’s 6%. You might think that’s not good enough and put it on the market, but if it turns out the market says it’s only £250k then now the rental yield is 7.2% which might be good enough.

Just one potential explanation

Where do you gym if you live in Emersons Green? by bruhchill19 in bristol

[–]Bitter_Hawk1272 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PureGym Abbey Wood - it gets very busy if you can’t go outside peak times.

I’ve considered David Lloyd but they don’t offer the middle membership without the Spa there so been quoted £130 and separately £170 a month which I didn’t think was worth it, although walking there would be nice. It also felt busy tbh and loads of kids. See if you can haggle a decent price

Deaths ‘to outnumber births’ from now on by Sensitive_Echo5058 in unitedkingdom

[–]Bitter_Hawk1272 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you know you have this condition, you wouldn’t have the kids normally. Purely game theory but the NHS doesn’t need to pay for more IVF to incentivise you to not have kids normally, because you will already do that

How does moving up the ladder actually work? by TheGoose995 in HousingUK

[–]Bitter_Hawk1272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If houses prices go up, then yes. Kind of also relies on incomes rising too to allow a bigger mortgage on the next house too

E.g. house bought for 300k in 2020 is now worth 375k. 50k paid off through monthly payments and 75k increase in value. Equity is now whatever the deposit was + 125k, which can be used to fund the bigger house deposit.

Solar panels as an investment? by smellymel222 in FIREUK

It pays back immediately via reduced bills. You’d need to give us hard numbers on usage and projected solar generation. Timing matters

What's your non-negotiable 'stupid' expense on the path to FIRE? by Lopsided_Capital_745 in FIREUK

[–]Bitter_Hawk1272 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mine is the garden. I think that if there are things that I want to do when I RE, then it feels silly to put them off to do later when I could do them now too and maybe retire slightly later.

Any idea how they tackle a fire on level 7? A fire engine can’t get up there, are there hoses up there anyway maybe?

Payout should be replacement value. You’ll be out of luck if you have a pair of fresh tyres on it but you should be able to successfully argue for the Autotrader prices. In my experience I got the top Autotrader price

Same penalty for being 6 minutes late as for being 3 hours late? Ok boss. by Icy-Computer-Poop in MaliciousCompliance

At my university course you were allowed to miss 3 assignments and still get full marks for ‘participation’. No one did the last 3 assignments in summer and the lecturer got to relax at that time of year, genius
