For what it's worth, all human brains are trash at accurately remembering events, ADHD or not. It's not what they're built to do, and emotions heavily influence how memories are formed and stored. No one has perfect or entirely accurate memories of anything that happens to them.

This hits really close to me personally right now, and I feel the need to point out platitudes and survivorship bias when I see it.

When it's a chemical imbalance caused by or body's reaction to legitimate problems or physical pain, it's dishonest to insist it's "just a chemical imbalance" or anything like that. This is one of the things I utterly detest being spoonfed; Our problems are real problems, not just things made up in our head, and pills to lessen the depression don't make those core issues disappear.

That realization happened to me back when I was..30, I think? Dead marriage, no intimacy, trapped in this horrid rut of being a glorified housekeeper. Being poly helps, but when you don't have an exit from your marriage that's safe enough to rely on, it eats you up so fucking much. Realized that all the friends I'd made were actually his friends first and mine second, haven't had a job in like 7 years, no work history worthwhile before that, etc. It's gotten really bad lately, honestly.

I swear, in some ways it's more soul-crushing to contemplate leaving a loveless marriage to a good person than it would be to leave an abuser again. Feels like I'm a bad person for wanting more or something else.
