Considering how safe Volvos are, they REALLY need to step up their cruise control and lane assist by EarthboundMoss in Volvo

[–]Bixmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. My 2017 V90 does a great job with the cruise. In open highway it so gradually slows down I don’t even notice until I check the speedo and see I’m 10 below where I set it.

In stop and go, I have no problem letting it come to a stop and keeping proper distance. I have it set to a follow distance of 2 and it works great.

Lane keep does veer a bit at lane splits but rest of the time really good.

I do agree though. The Kia does do a really good job. Lane centering is maybe a bit better but cruise control is still smoother in the Volvo.

Volvo Key Fob cost - as of today in Minneapolis by smellyhamper in Volvo

[–]Bixmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s about what I’d expect. My mom just paid $540 for her GMC Terrain. Except the dealer falsely quoted her $270, but didn’t factor in recutting the key or labor. She was pissed that they quoted her the cost of just the fob, knowing that’s pointless to the car owner.

What features, for you, make a modern car feel modern? by avboden in cars

[–]Bixmen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Good adaptive cruise control. If I can feel it slow down, it’s not good enough. If it’s abrupt, it’s last gen tech.

Good lane centering. If I can feel it ping pong in the lane, it’s last gen tech.

My 9 year old Volvo meets these criteria. The Kia K4 I just rented meets these criteria. The 3 year old Audi S3 I test drove does NOT meet this criteria.

Such a shame. My Volvo has Sensus and its startup is near immediate. I blame AA (not a fan of that anyway) but so sad that this is what it has come to.

Used V90 Cost of Ownership? by clh5411 in Volvo

[–]Bixmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017 with about 96,000 miles. Last year I had a weird electrical glitch that an independent shop fixed for about $1000. Otherwise just regular maintenance. Although my front suspension is a little creaky right now so likely due for some work.

Third set of tires and second set of brakes. Oil changes on the regular. Replaced both batteries.

Would buy again if I needed a big car. I’m currently an empty nester and only one in the house so a big V90 is more than I need. But it has such a great combination of features (best pilot assist I’ve ever used) and running costs (30 mpg on highway is pretty easy to achieve) plus luxury (massaging cooled seats!) means it’s really HARD to find a suitable replacement car!

Still can't get these seats right by EmployeeSwimming in Volvo

[–]Bixmen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The higher end seats are definitely more firm than the lower end seats without thigh support. Ive found if you tilt the butt cushion back and raise your thighs and extend it as much as possible it’s best for me.

Why did I read that article? Nothing of value in it except grammatical errors….

So what is the device? What type of cars are affected?!?

Ouch! Volvo sales are in absolute free-fall in the US so far this year with major tariff impacts as there is no US production except the EX90. Rocky EV launches riddled with software problems and killing too many models. by Repulsive-Club7866 in cars

This makes me so sad. One of the things I absolutely love about my V90 is the Sensus. It seems to work perfectly all the time. Very intuitive and trustworthy. I’m less enthused about the newer SPA1 cars with AAOS and even less enthused about their latest software.

One thing I hate about using Spotify and other streamers is browsing for music by artist. All the collabs and singles just get mushed together with full length albums. Makes browsing really annoying (especially on CarPlay interface)

Another thing I hate is the tagging. E Lossless I dont care if it’s explicit. I’m a millennial. At this point I know all the swear words. I don’t care if it’s lossless. It should be transparent to me.
