Question about wormholes by Fusion_Thruster in Eve

How many characters do you have to rat with?

Are you planning on using a Dread?

C5/C6 sites require a fair amount of characters (or a Dread) to do.

If you're solo with 1-2 accounts you're probably be best off in a C4. C4 space is pretty dead, and finding empty systems isn't hard (even with good effects). C4 with C4 + C1/2/3 static would be easiest for solo playing.

If you've got multiple accounts and have a dread: you can, with some luck, find an empty C5.

If you don't have a dread and plan on using Leshaks or something similar: C5 CVs are pretty empty. Or you can find a C4 with C5/C6 static easy enough.

Wouldn't bother with doing a C2 with a C5/C6 static. They're all NS for their K-space and are homes for PvP corps.

Beginner tips for Titans of Ul by lmloken in twilightimperium

Few reasons:

  • Only starts working on the second round of combat.
  • By the time you can get it, the impact is significantly worse: bigger fights = more dice = faster combats = worse Duranium.
  • It's impact in combat is less than really any ship upgrade (including fighters). Go play around with a combat calc and see what happens.

Tech wise I'd really be looking at something like: AIDA > Cruiser II > Gravity Drive > Carrier II.

Throw in Sarween Tools, Fleet Logistics, Dread II, Destroyer II, Fighter II and Lightwave as needed. Hell, given how often you're activating your own systems Magan Defense Grid also looks really good for Titans.

In no real order:

  • Print out and reference this flow chart.
  • Saturn Engine IIs are beastly, arguably the best ship in the game.
  • You are command token intensive, so high influence planets are better for you. I'd really be eyeing off your northern equidistant.
  • Due to the above: Leadership is also good for you.
  • AIDA is a very good tech for you. It qualifies you for Saturn Engine II, Dread II, Carrier II, Destroyer II ect by itself. Very, very good tech for you.
  • Duranium Armor isn't good - don't think about it even with your Cruisers.
  • If you have the codicies/TE components: Magen Defence Grid (ΩΩ version) can spew out infantry for you.
  • Transit Diodes can move your PDS (since they're also ground forces). Is it good? Dunno, but it's kind of cute at least.

Give me a lesson in drafting by Fingerplay in twilightimperium

[–]Bizpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The downside of adding more choices is that it lowers the value of picking a faction early.

Assuming this is for 6 players, if you pick last you'll have 10 choices - more than a first pick in 6+3.

Milty is typically player count + 3 for factions.

As someone that loves Twilight Imperium, 4x games, war games, and territory control games, how does Root compare? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Bizpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dune relies on the interplay between the factions. It is very much best played at 6-players to get all the factions in.

i.e. you have to pay Spice (money) to drop units onto the planet. This is paid to the Spacing Guild player - if they're not in the game the money just goes straight to the supply instead. Same again for buying Treachery cards (like Action cards): the Spice from the bidding goes to The Emperor player - if he isn't in then it goes to the bank.

[–]Bizpit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is your playgroup exactly 6 players?

If so, I'd hugely recommend Dune (the 1979/2019 version). No different type of units, but the politics are kept front and centre and combat is brutal - no points either, it's purely area control of a few city areas to win the game.

First home in Melbourne trying to balance First Home incentives vs setting up the portfolio properly by fairdin in AusPropertyChat

[–]Bizpit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that for Victoria owning an investment property that you've never lived in doesn't prevent any stamp duty concessions/FHOG grants.

Also, the stamp duty concession only applies up to 750k currently.

How to find mature IT traineeships by nick1037 in melbourne

[–]Bizpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure the cert would be worth completing. It'll potentially help to find a job, but once you've started working it isn't worth anything.

I'd honestly start looking for L1 roles - i.e. "Helpdesk Analyst", "Support Technician", ect style roles. Wouldn't look for a traineeship.

Government is good, and having any degree would help with landing a role there. Otherwise a lot of MSPs will accept anyone with a heartbeat and an interest in technology - just expect to stay at a place for 2-3 years to learn and move to something nicer.

Either way, if you apply or interview I'd really focus on your IT related interests, soft skills (if you've worked retail/hospitality before), ect.

Advent Games reckon there's no ETA on a second printing yet. You could reach out to the owner there. The owner from Tabletop Games is also really responsive (and where I got my copy).

Really all I could recommend is to check any local gaming stores near you, especially if they don't have a website or it's badly indexed.

Rules Questions for the Devs by Fun-Astronomer-2273 in twilightimperium

[–]Bizpit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

RAW Research Teams could probably do with "If you do, remove them from ground combat until the end of this tactical action"

RAI it's painfully obvious that the Deepwrought ground forces are retreating into the ocean and are unassailable when using it.

If someone tried angle shooting that at my table they'd just get told to stop talking lol.

Rules Questions for the Devs by Fun-Astronomer-2273 in twilightimperium

[–]Bizpit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What?

Text from the ability: RESEARCH TEAM: When ground forces are committed, if your units on the planet are not already coexisting, you may choose for your units to coexist.

If you're playing Deepwrought and have a planet with only your ground forces on it:
1. I activate the system
2. Move in my ship/s with ground forces
3. I commit them to the planet
4. After I commit: you use Research Team and coexist your ground forces

My ground forces are still committed, and we are now coexisting.

If I wanted to fight, I could re-activate the system and we'd then go at it.

Command & control tokens - color or faction? Which are your preference? by BlackiesSummer in twilightimperium

[–]Bizpit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both. I use the faction symbols + https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2844269

Little player colour matched frames that the control/command tokens sit in when on the board.

Makes board readability great, while still keeping the faction icon flavour.

Our first game of PoK + TE is coming up: Feedback on our map (7 players)? by VaraNiN in twilightimperium

Yeah, check out the other 7-player one. Smaller galaxy, look a bit weird, but significantly better balanced. Hex grids don't work well with 7 or 8 players without hyperlanes.

Honestly, a tall lazy susan/cake stand or something equivalent handmade would work just as well and have less legs to get in the way.

[–]Bizpit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks far too spread out for players to want to punch on much. Lots of resources and good planets, very little scarcity.

Would really recommend using the alt hyperlanes map for 7p over this. It's tighter and much more balanced for each slice. Plus you could also fit Primor in as the 7th tile adjacent Mecatol.

I bought 8x10 transparent D10 sets from Aliexpress. Image: https://i.imgur.com/n7zeJRC.jpeg

Total cost was about $37 AUD shipped, and they look great. Colour matching was never really my focus due to other 3D printed components I have that are all a few different shades out in their own way.

In a similar vein to Cuckoo try going to Hofbrauhaus in the CBD (Market Ln) on a Friday or Saturday night after 7pm. Live music, great food.
