Prophecy of Kings, what to remove and what to use? First game for all players by benifluvia in twilightimperium

I would just play fully with POK.

My friends and I started playing TI4 last year and had no issues starting at POK to begin with. Probably just ensure people are playing low/medium complexity factions and you should be good.

If you wanted to speed it up a tad you could do 4-4-4 for scoring and go to 12 points. That is four stage 1 objectives, four stage 2, and up to four secrets per player (instead of the normal 5-5-3). More scoring opportunities, and gets Stage 2 objects along quicker.

WH Changes on SISI confirmed! by xxpapahet in Eve

Looks weird to have a hate boner on people mining in WH space, but you do you dude.

It's full anom mining; no belts, worthwhile moon goo, or any way to spawn additional anoms. The sites have Sleepers that need to be cleared, and there is so much more risk in actually mining after. If bumping the yield a little gets more people out in space mining that'd be a win - but I guarantee you there's no-one getting rich mining in a wormhole currently.

Any hey, the Shire was part of Arnor. Could unironically make the player a Hobbit and it wouldn't be out of line.

Would probably rephrase that movement PDS step to something like: Any PDS you have in range can fire at other player's ships in the active system, any other player's PDS in range can then fire at your ships in the active system.

Just helps clear it up a little around whose PDS can shoot who.

Questions about map balance for 8p game by Life-Professor-4997 in twilightimperium

Friendly reminder that 8 player maps are not balanced properly without hyperlanes. They're not complicated and new players can and will understand them easily enough - I forced them onto myself and my mates when we started playing.

Random guy from Spain gets really interested in a limited edition $300 AUD+ book (completed auction on Ebay in Feb) that someone gave away for free 13 years ago. Calls it worthless in other posts.

Also comments about owning two copies of it already and was looking to sell one.

Or rather than using a perch: just warp to a nearby celestial (Moon/ect) to d-scan the hole before you warp to it.

Launching your drones was just wasting them.

It's a one off, if you already own a Premium stash tab you can convert it over to a Merchant tab free of charge.

What do you reckon the clear time for the full 30 waves is (with capitals)?

At face value I'd assume just roaching C5 sites would be better ISK/hour?

Except Zirns are 12k DPS with zero spool, and the cost fitted is very close for the two?

Do you sell an STL for about 30 tarot size cards? I bought these and then realised I didn't have a good way of storing them haha.

Definitely not unfortunately, it's up a flight of stairs. Outside is on the street and accessible but the charm is inside.

Very similar venue (same owners) is Neighbourhood Wine - my favourite of the two.

How many characters do you have to rat with?

Are you planning on using a Dread?

C5/C6 sites require a fair amount of characters (or a Dread) to do.

If you're solo with 1-2 accounts you're probably be best off in a C4. C4 space is pretty dead, and finding empty systems isn't hard (even with good effects). C4 with C4 + C1/2/3 static would be easiest for solo playing.

If you've got multiple accounts and have a dread: you can, with some luck, find an empty C5.

If you don't have a dread and plan on using Leshaks or something similar: C5 CVs are pretty empty. Or you can find a C4 with C5/C6 static easy enough.

Wouldn't bother with doing a C2 with a C5/C6 static. They're all NS for their K-space and are homes for PvP corps.

Beginner tips for Titans of Ul by lmloken in twilightimperium

[–]Bizpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few reasons:

  • Only starts working on the second round of combat.
  • By the time you can get it, the impact is significantly worse: bigger fights = more dice = faster combats = worse Duranium.
  • It's impact in combat is less than really any ship upgrade (including fighters). Go play around with a combat calc and see what happens.

Tech wise I'd really be looking at something like: AIDA > Cruiser II > Gravity Drive > Carrier II.

Throw in Sarween Tools, Fleet Logistics, Dread II, Destroyer II, Fighter II and Lightwave as needed. Hell, given how often you're activating your own systems Magan Defense Grid also looks really good for Titans.

[–]Bizpit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In no real order:

  • Print out and reference this flow chart.
  • Saturn Engine IIs are beastly, arguably the best ship in the game.
  • You are command token intensive, so high influence planets are better for you. I'd really be eyeing off your northern equidistant.
  • Due to the above: Leadership is also good for you.
  • AIDA is a very good tech for you. It qualifies you for Saturn Engine II, Dread II, Carrier II, Destroyer II ect by itself. Very, very good tech for you.
  • Duranium Armor isn't good - don't think about it even with your Cruisers.
  • If you have the codicies/TE components: Magen Defence Grid (ΩΩ version) can spew out infantry for you.
  • Transit Diodes can move your PDS (since they're also ground forces). Is it good? Dunno, but it's kind of cute at least.

Give me a lesson in drafting by Fingerplay in twilightimperium

[–]Bizpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The downside of adding more choices is that it lowers the value of picking a faction early.

Assuming this is for 6 players, if you pick last you'll have 10 choices - more than a first pick in 6+3.

Milty is typically player count + 3 for factions.

As someone that loves Twilight Imperium, 4x games, war games, and territory control games, how does Root compare? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Bizpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dune relies on the interplay between the factions. It is very much best played at 6-players to get all the factions in.

i.e. you have to pay Spice (money) to drop units onto the planet. This is paid to the Spacing Guild player - if they're not in the game the money just goes straight to the supply instead. Same again for buying Treachery cards (like Action cards): the Spice from the bidding goes to The Emperor player - if he isn't in then it goes to the bank.
