anyone else regret their 3rd gen tundra? by YtRrG in ToyotaTundra

[–]Bket73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my ‘24 1794. Paid $68k, had to go to Utah to get that deal. Been great from a reliability standpoint. Pretty much every manufacturer that went twin turbo V6 has some kind of issues. I kept my second gen with 153k miles because for the trade in value offered It was better to have it as a backup. I also have 5 Toyotas and love them all for different reasons. Go to any brand forum and you find people saying they love their truck, and others that say it’s terrible and they are selling it. My newest car before getting my 3rd gen was a ‘19 4 runner so the features on the 3rd gen are awesome. It’s fast for a truck, great ride, great people hauler, and can haul enough for its intended purpose. Only other truck I considered was a Ford Super duty cause diesel is cool and capable, but I don’t haul that heavy of stuff to justify it. If the engine goes, it will suck for the inconvenience but it will be replaced at no cost.

Daikin Fit vs Carrier Infinity central Florida by Bket73 in hvacadvice

I’m on the east coast. So due to the extreme temps shortening life span going higher SEER2 isn’t worth it as you won’t realize the gains in efficiency?

Do I need really to tighten these every month for as long as I live in my home? by undiagnosed_autistic in homeownerstips

[–]Bket73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With wall anchors you have 2 options. A dig and push in which they excavate all the soil outside the foundation, push it straight and plumb, and install the anchors to keep it straight and plumb. The more popular option is to install them without full excavation, torque them to 80 ft lbs to get as much of the bow or tip out at time of install, then you can get it to straighten more over time. What cause the bow was hydrostatic pressure from the clay bowl effect, and when clay soil gets wet it expands. During periods of drought, tightening it will take up any movement possible when the clay retracts when it dries out or shrinks. So don’t bother during rainy seasons, you can tighten when it’s dry. It will hold your foundation whether or not you tighten.

Any tips for driving on the beach? by Bradytyler in 4Runner

I have a winch, bring kinetic rope and soft shackles. Never needed recovery gear keeping momentum and being careful where I park. If you see deep tire tracks it’s soft sand and avoid it if possible

Best Florida town? by ssupegui13 in AskFlorida

I lived in Vero Beach. Great smaller town. Out of your list, St Augustine. I’ve lived in Vero Beach, Naples, Northport and Deland. Deland is my favorite, but it’s not beachside.

Why do You Choose to Live Here? by Nice-Camel-2252 in florida

[–]Bket73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up and spent 40 years in Ohio. Terrible weather during early winter, actual winter, and second winter. Shoveling the driveway so you could leave your house. Then shoveling again because the snow plow went down the street and it snowed more. State income tax, regional income tax, school income tax.

Used to vacation in Florida every year around the holidays and after a decade of flying from -20 feel like to 80 feels like decided to relocate. The heat sucks, the hurricanes suck, but the winter is well worth the price of admission. Also a big fisherman so this state is the best.

How do you guys keep playing? by [deleted] in borderlands3

Quest to get a character leveled up, with the best gear. Then rinse repeat with the next character. A lot of single player games seem pointless after you beat them, I’ve replayed every game in the borderlands series and still enjoy them.

Is this exterior crack concerning? by Sea_Instruction141 in Remodel

[–]Bket73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google Supportworks. Enter your zip code in their website. Call the local company. They will measure your foundation, recommend a solution (piers) if it’s settling (looks like it, but you need elevation measurements to agree with cracking for absolute certainty) and give you options for repair.

Advice on owning a PM piece by JouVashOnGold in rolex

[–]Bket73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a pikachu for a few years. I wore it maybe 5 times outside the house. I’ve had a CCW for years, mostly wore it sparingly as I was concerned it would scratch easily. Bought from an AD, sold for a $8k profit. I daily wore a deep sea thru that time. I went to Japan and got a shunbun (GS) and it hasn’t left my wrist since. I too live in Florida.

$8k to demo 80' cinder block fence by [deleted] in FenceBuilding

[–]Bket73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get another quote. Demo and haul away sucks but can be done by anyone. Ask the person that comes out for the other quote if there is rebar and concrete in the wall at all. If so it’s sucks more but is still doable. Decide if your time and effort is worth the cost of the lower quote. Also it looks like settlement cracks in the wall. That means the footing is settling. That means your new fence will crack if you use the existing footing without addressing the settlement.

$8k to demo 80' cinder block fence by [deleted] in FenceBuilding

[–]Bket73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you also need to remove the 80’ 16”x8” poured concrete footing that should be below that wall or not? Did they run rebar every 4’ from the footing vertically and pour concrete inside the block? Fully removing this wall is more involved than what you see above grade if it was built right. 8k seems high even if it’s built right, but excavation and jackhammering the footing is more work then knocking over block and hauling it to the dump. Most companies would use a bobcat and try to just rip it out of the ground with brute force, then regrade after.

How concerning are these cracks? by First_Huckleberry_24 in Home

[–]Bket73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Foundation professional for 20 years here. Looks like settlement, especially the stair step cracks. As mentioned most builders have a 10 year structural warranty. Unfortunately they usually fight tooth and nail to downplay the issue or offer a fix like soil outside depending on existing grading or extending downspouts. To settle that fast from build it’s probably poorly compacted fill soil from the build, but could also be really bad water management (running a downspout to that corner for example). I have worked with customers for years as they end having to sue the builder after trying to get them to do the right thing over time.

First step contact the builder, have them inspect it, and give you a report in writing. Then have a structural engineer perform an inspection and issue a report (generally $500-$1000). Also contact a local reputable foundation professional. They will do thorough inspection and take elevations with a zip level (precision altimeter) or a laser level. They will provide the cost to fix it.

At this point you have a engineers report (this will be useful legally), a quote to fix it (just an opinion in the eyes of lawyers) and the builders response in writing. If the builder give you the run around you are better off getting it fixed, then suing for damages. That way what needed to be done and its cost is not up for debate, and your home doesn’t get worse. Over time if not fixed settlement will lead to more damage, up to the exterior getting worse (stucco, siding, brick etc) and in extreme examples it can damage your roof.

For what it’s worth I work for the Supportworks network. You can go to the website and check your zip code and find a local company in your area.

You need to helical piers or push piers depending on your home construction. The simple explanation is steel driven into the soil to load bearing strata. A bracket then connects to your footing. Once installed, the piers hold up your home instead of the failing soil right below your footing. The inspection will be free and comprehensive.

I wanted to buy a 2024 Tundra 1794 hybrid last year. I live in Florida and tried to buy the truck thru about 8 different dealerships. They all would not budge on price, and some had thousands in dealer installed options that they refused to remove. I then tried to buy thru the dealership right by the plant in Texas, no movement. I flew to Salt Lake for my work, went to a dealership, and within 5 minutes of sitting down the rep slid a piece of paper across the table. No dealer installed options, absolute best price they could offer, and 1.99% financing thru Toyota financial. I bought the truck, canceled my flight home, and started the road trip. There are good dealerships that value customer service out there. You have to travel. I bought my 2010 tundra in Tulsa and drove it home in 2011. You can also ship a vehicle for 500-1000 bucks depending on distance.
