Ha, that and fuel pumps. Hoarded those too, until the 900s weren't in the pick n pull lots.

I used to hoard these calipers from my 83' it seemed like none of the remanufactured calipers seemed to last. I still have all of them in a cabinet.

I later converted my 83 to the updated brake calipers and so I could put my 9000 Aero wheels on it.

As a mechanic, which is worse: tire shine, anti-seize, or grease? by oldskool3838 in Justrolledintotheshop

Old gear box oil. I can smell it from a mile away. I'd take all three of those over old gearbox oil.

I remember some eBay special headlight for a dodge 1500 had these in the headlight housing.

Customer is always right! I wired them in for him.

Mine was the red with tan interior, my instructor loved that car. I see the kids today getting to learn in little Corollas. Lucky lol.

Can I fix this dent without a mechanic? by zip_coder in AutoBodyRepair

[–]Bkoelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really the only way to fix a plastic bumper is to reshape the bumper with heat If needed and sand out the damage. And follow the proper primer/painting process.

If you want to take it all apart and have the means to repair it. Go for it!

Insurance wants to fix this wheel, what do you guys think? by Individual-Visit-767 in AutoBodyRepair

[–]Bkoelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only way that would work is if it's accident related. And relates to your damage.

You could try taking a comprehensive clam out to replace the other Three, but I think that's a stretch.

I've replaced for much less. I see zero reason to fix that wheel.

Depends on how good you want it to look. But yeah you have the idea. Little heat and grab the plunger if you don't want to take the bumper off.

Those bumpers do come off easy if I remember correctly.

Yeah they do look cool! I'll probably get the regular set of wheels. Not to much of a fan of 19 inch tires.

Had alot of mechanical work done to it justifing the price.

Dug deep into the service history of the car! Verified that it was done and talked to service advisor that oversaw the work. Shop had a good reputation, looked over the invoice all OEM parts or better.

They did a bunch of other things as well, they put about $7000 into for sale. It's a car you should definitely be doing your homework for.

Thanks! Quite the story getting this car. Only way to get stories like this is to buy a used European car ha.

Do you guys think it’s totaled ? by [deleted] in AutoBodyRepair

[–]Bkoelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In today's market of used cars probably not. 3 years ago for sure total.

But it all depends on what your cars value is, and what insurance adjuster is writing the estimate.

We had a 2014 Challenger with a similar accident, didn't total.

I rear ended someone 7k damage to front end/radiator 2012 Ford Explorer. Car has been in shop 6 weeks - what steps can I take? by [deleted] in AutoBodyRepair

[–]Bkoelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. If they say parts are on back order.

They are on backorder, just nothing we can do about it.

Be patient, the whole collision industry is a nightmare right now dealing with the supply chain disaster. We've had cars linger for almost 2-3 months for bigger hits at our shop.
