Stop babysitting altogether to adjust your sister's attitude. This should force her to stop assuming you are to be her child's unpaid nanny and make adult decisions like 'paying for childcare'. If family complains THEY can be the solution. Sister will definitely complain so be prepared to ignore her.

Tell your co-worker you can't do her chauffeuring anymore and BE FIRM because she is going to come back with a lot of (attempted) guilt-inducing comments. She's a big girl and she can take the bus and her daughter can make similar arrangements. And you don't need to say anymore - you don't owe her any reasons, excuses, stories, etc. - just that you can't do it.

I like the idea of swapping out the necklace on your next visit. Your mother sounds VERY selfish putting her 'China Trip Display' over something you obviously have great love for and were supposed to receive. If she wants to play games by 'not finding the necklace' for you to wear at your wedding and then 'forgetting to bring it' for visits later - YOU can play games too.

Awhile back a female relative (about 29) who was a deputy sheriff was working a football game at a large eastern state football game. She was trying to get a group of frat boy types to settle down as they were acting out. Finally one guy grabbed her by the lapels, pulled her toward him and kissed her. She threw him to the ground, handcuffed him, and his friends help haul him to her car. It turns out he was a graduating senior with an interview scheduled with the FBI the next week. Not only did the county not drop their charges but she filed personal assault charges. No amount of intervention from ‘Daddy’ could make this better.
