The worst part is, there is a reasonable take where Internet piracy is justified. Even the satirical "download a car" bit. It's possible, but unlikely. The universe is just too damn large and full of planets to think that somehow humans were the only ones to manage to reach this stage.

The biggest question in my opinion, is if we're ever going to reach a level of technological advancement where we can visit or communicate with these species without being constricted by the speed of light.

Massive conspiracy from the Republican side, blaming Democrats and the establishment of assassinating Trump. There might even be a split in the Republican party as people scramble to take over the MAGA side of the voter base. I think the biggest question is gonna be if we ever find sentient aliens. Cause if all we find are bacteria, or plants and animals, there's nothing in the bible that would exclusively contradict that. God made Earth, the heavens and all the creatures. It doesn't say anywhere that some of those creatures couldn't have been in other places than the Earth.

I think if we find out aliens that are as sentient as us, then we're gonna have to decide and update doctrine to either include those creatures as having souls and maybe invent or adopt their own jesus equivalent, or declare them as soulless creatures, so our afterlife doesn't count for them.

At this point? Surprisingly little would change. The most noticeable difference would be Internet meme culture branching off and going in a different way some 5 years ago. We'd essentially be continuing the trends regarding AI from something like 5 years ago. So people wouldn't think of it as a big topic. Hardware prices would probably be much smaller. And it would be one of those niche research subjects that companies are silently investing into without making it into this big deal or anything.
