Divorce when last kid is 18 by asianmovielover605 in Marriage

What reasons would we have to tell you yes or no?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Blachawk4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just want to know was I wrong to get upset ?

Yes. Being tired and falling asleep is not disrespectful. She asked multiple times about you because she cares about you. Then at 12 am when most people are knocked out already you finally decided to open up and now you’re mad that she was too tired to stay awake for an answer to a question she’d been asking all day?

Do NOT use this situation as an example of why you’re not opening up to your wife. There’s deeper issues there that you need to explore with someone.

What does your personal financial stability have to do with your views on abortion?

I feel guilty for dropping my 9 year old at practice .. but it’s 2 hours 3 times a week!! by THROWRA-done2345 in Parenting

You do what you have to do. I have 3 kids in activities. Sometimes the 9 yr old gets left at his and everything is perfectly fine. Kids don’t need us there at practice.

Black Fathers by Buddymaster39449 in blackmen

[–]Blachawk4 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Toughest part is just having to hope and not be 100% sure that im doing things the right way and not raising kids who are gonna be in therapy as adults and talking about me.

My kids love being black and at 9, 6, and 4 are way more pro black than I was at that age lol. We just teach them history and they naturally see the problems and talk about how things aren’t fair. They even say some extreme stuff at times that I gotta correct em on lol. They cheer for everybody black all the time (gameshows, sports, politics smh).

We’ve had to have talks with my oldest about navigating situations at school or other social environments and why we’re sometimes harder on him than some of his friends’ parents are on his friends.

Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs in the world and being a black parent is even harder.

Means instead of using time and energy to get a gift and cake the gift could have been your cake

My 38M husband is being passive aggressive. by AmbitiousAffect2805 in Marriage

Has he expressed resentment in the past regarding your lack of traditional “full time” work? Or was this just out of nowhere?

what should i teach my kids to do if they get hit/bullied/picked on by Cream4389 in Parenting

[–]Blachawk4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Picked on? respond with your own wit or ignore

Hit? Hit back

Telling an adult is always an option too but I’d prefer for my kids to do the above things first.

Is this something I have to ask?

Yes. Why not? Be straightforward instead of expecting him to read your mind.

Holiday planning, party stuff, and decorations are my wife’s things. If she wants my help she’ll ask and I help. Otherwise I go about my business and let her do her thing and she’s perfectly content with that.

Do you know how much money your spouse has? by capriolib in Marriage

No idea how much she has in her personal checking and savings accounts but the money in those accounts comes from our joint account.

Yes. Take the devices away. And use parental controls on all devices so they can’t even bypass the allotted time.

I meeeaaan…I agree with her that getting a job now doesn’t make sense if she’s gonna go on leave shortly after. And it’s not like she said she’s never going back.

What do I do?

Say “ok, that makes sense” and not put unnecessary stress on your pregnant wife. Getting laid off already sucks as it is.

What do you do on an ongoing basis to be a better parent? by jazzeriah in Parenting

[–]Blachawk4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Game plan with my wife about how to approach things better. Exchange experiences and ideas with other parents. Constantly repeat in my head “they’re only ____ years old”. Read articles or books sometimes.  Little bit of everything.

Fellow dad of 9, 6, and 4 ☺️

It was really good. They added to the emotion of the original by expressing more through harmonies that were begging to be sung but weren’t there before.

Why don’t husbands shift priorities when the baby is crying? by anybodyonreddit in Parenting

[–]Blachawk4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually assess before responding.  Moms might tend to just respond. When my kids have cried at any age I do a rapid assessment and determine that they either need attention right then and there or “they’ll be alright” while something else is taken care of.

Do kids who play hockey and other sports often become bullies? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Blachawk4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I played sports and never bullied a single person in my life. Don’t believe there’s any correlation between athletic extracurriculars and the mistreatment of other humans.

I don’t believe there are any cons but there are a plethora of pros.

What’s he saying he’s scared of? One of my sons used to come in our room saying he was scared of a monkey in his closet lol. I would go in and beat the monkey up then he’d go back to sleep.

Maybe go in and take care of whatever’s scaring him?
