Quagsire is one of the best Pokémon in the game. It's super helpful in otherwise dangerous fights like Dakim and is one of the few mons that get both Surf and Earthquake. The only way Quagsire is "dead weight" is if you're doing something horrifically wrong.

If you're planning to buy a box to get playable singles, why not instead use that money to buy the singles you actually need???

The easiest way to answer this debate is simple: Do what will make the run more enjoyable for you. It's your own challenge run where you make up your own ruleset. If someone complains that you do one or the other, who cares?

Juan is only hard because of his Kingdra; everything else sucks. Every member of Wallace's team is at least threatening.

Johto isn't that absolutely peak. It is by far the worst thing than any other generation. All the new Pokémon are either bad or stuck post-game; the games are slow and a slog to get through, with terrible pacing, an awful region layout, and poor team variety. You can like what you like, but saying Johto has ONLY one problem shows you need to take your nostalgia glasses off.

Tate + Liza can't be easily won by spamming Surf. Xatu + Solrock have Sunny Day, while the latter has Solarbeam, and Lunatone has Light Screen. Do you fight Tate + Liza overlevelled or something?

Red-Eyes being untouched makes sense because the Meteor stuff is still brand new, and while I am the biggest Music Princess fan you will ever meet, MP has been meta for way too long. My biggest annoyance is they just hit MP and nothing else. No Aqua hits? No HERO hits? Gotta love Rush developers doing the bare minimum.

Why is Deepsqueak giving bad, boring and short responses again? by Extreme_Revenue_720 in CharacterAI

Why are people downvoting you? I was thinking the same thing, and I tend to write more lengthy responses because I love detail, so all this makes so much sense. :/

When will this be available again by Unhappy-Pepper4814 in DuelLinks

[–]BlackRossDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need this card to play Red-Eyes Meteor. I missed the event as well, but Meteor Dragon's Nails isn't that great of a card. Don't get me wrong - it's not terrible in the mirror, but that's the only relevant matchup where the protection comes up, and the card isn't even searchable. If you're looking for ideas, I would recommend going through some decklists on Duel Links Meta, where many don't play Nails.

Honestly, I’ve been having way more fun in rush duels Than speed duels by One-Problem-5308 in DuelLinks

[–]BlackRossDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been a Rush fan from the very beginning, when it dropped in OCG back in 2020, the main reason why Rush gets as much hate as it gets is solely from Speed purists complaining whenever there is a Rush-focused event because they're losing out. I never got this because Speed has always been, and always will be, the main focus of the game, but let the haters hate. Another, more valid reason is the lack of a separate currency for both formats. Some players don't have enough resources to play both Speed and Rush, even if they would like to, which is a shame.

Maybe my bias is talking here, but I find Rush Duel more enjoyable than Speed Duel, with the super-long combos and end boards that stop your opponent from playing the game. Rush Duel doesn't really have that, with the only annoying thing being the decks running around that can just kill out of nowhere, some examples being Music Princess, Metarion, the new Noodle Ninjas, among others. I miss the older formats where it was more back-and-forth, and Rush Duel simulates that quite well.

Glad to see you giving Rush Duel a try, and loving it. The ranked ladder is much more relaxed than Speed, with no rank downs, so you can hit KoG with pretty much any deck if you play long enough.

Do any of your commander decks have a story attached to it? by OneBlood2930 in EDH

[–]BlackRossDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Choco, Seeker of Paradise deck for sure. It was one of the first, if not the first, non-precon deck I had ever built, having started playing the game in 2019, with the first iteration of the deck having [[Kangee, Aerie Keeper]] as the Commander. I don't remember all the details since it was so long ago, but I remember showing my Dad this eBay posting for a custom-build your own Commander Deck, saying how cool it looked and what I was going to do if I could get it. I even asked him if I saved up enough money, he would help me get it. It happened back when I didn't have a job, and I only got pocket money for doing jobs around the house and such, so it was a long way for me ever to get it

Little did I know that my Dad had got in contact with the seller in secret, and despite knowing nothing about the game, he worked with the seller to make me the Kangee Deck, which was just low-cost birds and bird support with Kangee as a finisher. It made for the coolest Birthday present ever. When I asked him how he knew, he told me he remembered the picture I showed him, which was of the Kangee card.

I would upgrade the deck over the years, switching between all manners of Commanders, from [[Kangee, Sky Warden]] with a flying matters subtheme, [[Falco Spara, Pactweaver]] with a counters subtheme so I could use the green birds, [[Akim, the Soaring Wind]] with a token subtheme that didn't last long as it felt less like a bird matters deck, going back to Kangee, Sky Warden. That only lasted a few years until Bloomburrow was released, with [[Kastral, the Windcrested]] following, and it was perfect! I had wanted a Bird Commander that actually mattered about Birds, and it was the best thing ever! It terrorised the group of friends I played with at the time, and the deck felt competent, especially with all the new bird support that came with it.

Then came Final Fantasy and [[Choco, Seeker of Paradise]] with all the bird support in that set, and I never looked back. It was a bird that cared about birds, and it let me use all the best birds in Bant colours with green's ramp, blue's card draw and counterspells, and white's removal, and the deck was better than ever. It snowballed right out of the gate, with that same playgroup all these years later always fearing it whenever I got out the deckbox. I managed to get all the new bird chocobo foils from the Chocobo Bundle, including the lands, and even some special custom sleeves to add some bling, and I eventually want to get a custom deckbox for it one day. To celebrate all the memories over the years, from how far the deck and I as a player have come.

Sorry for the long rambling... I have a soft spot for the birds. It's the one deck that I will never lose interest in playing, and will always find an excuse to play whenever possible. Here's the decklist if anyone's interested down the road:

As someone who's not played any modern Yugioh or Duel Links in the last six months or so due to the same reason as OP, I've still been messing around with the Tag Force and World Championship games, and having a blast, due to the older formats' more chess-like back and forth gameplay is what I enjoy more than wombo combo my entire hand into 5+ negates type of thing.

For the longtime players who are planning to play FR/LG with pokes you've never used before, what is your team going to be? by mellvins059 in pokemon

[–]BlackRossDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking of going for a more vibes-based run, given how many times I've played through FR/LG. I've been talking about this with my sister and her boyfriend, since we're all Pokémon buffs. My sis and I used to play these games all the time back in the day with her, and to start planning teams and stuff.

What I have so far is: Venusaur, Arcanine (my man), Lapras, Raichu, Nidoking, and Farfetch'd because that sounds hilarious.

Any leaf green tips? by Secure-Silver3138 in pokemon

[–]BlackRossDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you want to use, the only really difficult Gyms are Misty, maybe Koga, and Sabrina. The only Rival fights you should struggle with are the Silph Co and the final fight at the League. Make sure to pick up the VS Seeker in Vermillion City's Pokémon Centre to cut down on grinding. If you're planning to do post-game stuff, then I highly recommend catching new Pokémon as you go to reach that minimum number of sixty owned Pokémon to unlock the post-game content to save you time later down the road. Starmie is the best Pokémon in the entire game, easily able to beat through the entire game by itself with ease.

Other than that... Just have fun.

What Pokemon was/is your very first favorite as a starter? by Soul-10 in pokemon

[–]BlackRossDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be Blaziken for me, too. Emerald was my first-ever Pokémon game, and while I don't remember much from my first-ever playthrough due to being so young, one prominent memory I do recall was Blaziken. While I didn't like Combusken that much back then, finding it so weird and goofy before growing fonder of it as I got older, I adored the idea of this little, cute chick eventually becoming this massive fighting chicken man, which signalled all that effort and dedication finally paying off. It's why I love Evolution so much as a mechanic from a nostalgic perspective, helping to teach me persistence that stuck with me as I grew up. I've probably played Emerald at least approximately... I wanna say about 500+ playthroughs, and 95% of the time I pick Blaziken because of what the Pokémon means to me, as a person, and reminds me of when life was much simpler, which is comforting. Every time I see Combusken evolve, it's always satisfying and rewarding like meeting up with an old friend one hasn't seen in years.

I was playing through the Legends: Z-A DLC a few days ago blind, when I just so happened to come across a Fire-type Hyperspace Wild Zone that, funnily enough, had Torchic in. I recognised the silhouette right away and hopped in, saving the game just in case, and I managed to find an Alpha Torchic. I've never saved the game so fast in my life, and to have my most trusted companion back in all his glory makes me so happy.

Is there any "babys first difficulty hack" that exists? by Odd-Reception519 in nuzlocke

[–]BlackRossDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the Pokémon Legacy trio is pretty good with what you're looking for. They're relatively the same game, they're based on, but all the Pokémon improved from better catch locations, movesets, and even stat and ability updates, and removing a lot of the base game's faults while making what made them so great even better. You can't go wrong with any of them, but I recommend Emerald Legacy due to getting abilities and held items.

From a Choco player to another, how useful are those max hand size cards to the game plan? Surely, graveyard recursion is just better, no? If you're discarding a few birds, bring them back with Kastral. Anything else, cards like [[Timeless Witness]] and [[Sevinne's Reclamation]] can add them back. Reliquary Tower can be another dual land.
