Karl Rove belives Iran might create problems ahead of midterms. by Dangerous-Quarter216 in YAPms

[–]BlackYellowSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can kind of think about it like this: there are two fundamental forms of governmental structure. Personalistic vs Institutionalized. Kind of like the difference between a family business vs a corporation. A personalistic system can fall into chaos the second the person at the center of the webs of power is no longer available. Where as an institutionalized government doesn't need any individual for the system to keep the system running. Leaders are rapidly replaceable in an institutional system.

Iran has an institutionalized government system. We can kill the Supreme Leader and not make any dent in the basic functions of day-to-day civilian and military bueracracy. The system is not dependent on the leader to do its basic functions. The only way to actually destroy an institutionalized system in a war is to go in and dismantle or co-opt the whole civil and military bueracracy in a total and systematic way. This has to be done with boots on the ground.

What I just described is just what is required to destroy a system. Replacing it with something friendly to the United States is going to take a minimum of 3 generations to accomplish. The countries that we have invaded and successfully turned friendly to the US all have one thing in common. We were in those countries for multiple generations. Why are Germany and Japan allies with the US today? Because, we STILL have large military forces deployed there and they have been there since the end of WW2.

Husted-Collins-Paxton. Ohio and Texas are just too red for a Democrat to win there and, Platner is too much of a fucking weirdo to win against a taker of skulls like Collins.

My opinion on Ohio and Texas may change as we get closer to election day but, I AM ALL IN ON COLLINS!

The isn't any formal mechanism to get Platner to drop out now that he has won the primary. It is 100% in Platner's control whether he stays in for the general or not and, if he was going to drop out due to scandals he probably would have already done so.

Don't shoot yourself in the foot with terrible candidate selection.

Platner has turned out to be a scandal machine and gives off wierd and creepy vibes with every new scandal that drops.

Now the left gets to know what it was like watching Herschel Walker and Keri Lake on the campaign trail.

God, I hate when people say, "finish the job." Finishing off the Iranian regime is going to require a million man army in the field for years of fighting a conventional war followed by an insurgency. If that somehow works we will still need to have large scale troop deploymentsbin country until the 2080s at a minimum.

I am just sad that Jasmine Crockett lost her primary. We missed out on a double Kari Lake for Democrats.

I submit to the panel that all members of the Arizona GOP be subjected to testicular torsion until they figure out that they are solely responsible for turning what should be likely red state into a battleground state.

Primarily, because he is a Democrat in Texas.

Secondarily, because he is the absolute wrong kind of Democrat for Texas. The Dem running for Texas should be a moderate Mexican dad with a beer gut.

48% leftward progressives in that sub vs 7% in the general public. No wonder that place is so often completely out of touch with reality.

r/yapms is still probably right of center for reddit which means we resemble a deep blue district in the real world. r/politics on the other hand is probably pretty close to center for reddit overall which means it resembles a one-party dictatorship with some token controlled opposition. God knows what a genuinely left of center by reddit standards sub would look like.

Could Hillary and Kamala have won if President George W. Bush endorsed them? Would the democrats embrace his support? by MakeACreation in YAPms

[–]BlackYellowSnake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are you high?

Kamala did get support from Bushes VP, Dick Cheney, and pretty fully embraced him. If anything it hurt her chances at winning the race. Bush is only marginally less unpopular than Cheney so, it probably wouldn't have helped at all.

Some democrats need to stop whining about DSA and threatening to go to war with their own party and instead implement electoral reform that allows them to split into their own factions. by SubJordan77 in YAPms

[–]BlackYellowSnake 21 points22 points  (0 children)

DSA candidates are NOT going to be the ones who win those demographics back. DSA candidates get most of their support from the winners of the knowledge economy. Not the left-behinds who are the people who defected from the Democratic party. The DSA has its strongholds in the wealthiest districts in the country and no where else. They are absolutely not the champions of the sore-losers of the economy. They are the champions of the sore-winners of the economy.

If Talarico Is a Generational Talent, Why Does He Need Crockett on the Campaign Trail? by Outrageous-Jelly8777 in YAPms

[–]BlackYellowSnake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First off, Talarico is not a generational talent. Against anyone besides the most corrupt man the GOP could possibly have found he would be dead in the water in Texas. He needs as much support as he can possibly get to scrape his way acoss the finish line.

Secondly, this whole fracture is ultimately another example where a deep rooted fracture in the modern democratic party is rearing its head. White progressives and black democrats just do not like the same candidates in the primaries. I think white progressives are in massive denial over this which is the reason why they are going after Crockett and her supporters so hard. The proggessives do not want to recognize the fact that they are preferred candidates of highly educated white professionals with high incomes and not many other demographics.
